Quote from bladegt :ah ok...thanks for the info..
something else...i have logitech g25 ...
i configured the steering at 900degrees and ingame(for now bmw m3 challenge at 37 degrees ) i cant drift because i cant control the gas pedal very good...
i dont like it's sensitivity... can i configure it ?
it starts accelerating when i press it about at 20% ...the difference then from 50% to 100% its very big...

Change the degrees to 720 or as close as you can get (mines 725). Thats the actual turn radius of most of the cars in the game. cept the single seaters which are 540 i believe.

Quote from Fredthebest :Congratulations and welcome to S2!

S2 is much better than Demo :P

That it is, I think I had the demo for like a day before i bought s2. I had to have some good game that was worthy of the g25.

As 5th gear put it best, it's about car control. When I was learning to do it in NFS most wanted, and finally achieved it, I was quite happy. When I do a nice one in LFS I feel good. Just like when having a fun race. I guess thats why I like using the XRG. Having the oversteer through a corner .

Quote from spankmeyer :Please God, don't let him be a cruiser or a drifter...

EDIT: Or oval racer.

I liked cruising for a time, I enjoyed getting faster on the tracks when the servers were low pop, and it was a nice way to get into mp.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :15-20 secs from WR doesn't sound right...even I'm usually less than 10 secs from WR

If you post a replay of a couple of laps driving the combo you have problems with, I'm sure someone will take a look

I was real bad when I started out. Didn't know how to drive lines or anything. Started learning that stuff when I started doing some CTRA.

Tell me that wouldn't be an adrenaline rush.

I remember reading an article of some navy guys docked in saudi arabia. They rented an accord, and did a drift stunt as it was said doing about 110kph, the driver ended up killing his 3 passengers, and he was executed. So it can be scary, but fun if you actually know what you are doing.

Quote from frokki :Easy. It's a car that's modified to perform better in drifing. You could aswell ask what is a drag car, a race car, or ice-cream van.

And on topic, drifting is popular in LFS because it's fun and easy. You can just jump to any server or track with any RWD car and start drifting. No need to practise lines or tweak setups, no need to care what other people do.

It's true, I can strangly drift better in the xrt on hard track vs a drift setup from team inferno.

Quote from FTY944 :Ok first off, let me say this, I am an avid sim racer, trying everything with a decent physics engine out there...and this is the most realistic by far. But....(yup here it comes)....I have also raced in real life on a real race track in real cars...namely Porsches and did very well. Why do I suck at LFS??? I have a nice momo FF wheel a nice 23in LCD screen and am getting 120fps out of my vid card...everything is right hardware wise....am I missing something??? I am following my lines and attempting not to early or late apex...and still not posting great times. HELP!!

The big difference between racing and a game, is the feel. You don't feel the car slow down, whip through a corner, you don't feel the clutch, the weight transfer when braking, etc.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :Slightly off-topic, but how hard is it to get gfx cards for laptops? I recently got the Advent 9517 (Dual core 1.5ghz, 2gb ram), and it has an Nvidia GeForce 7150M, which I believe is onboard. But I only get about 5 fps on my own in the blackwood carpark (Haven't unlocked lfs on it yet as theres no point...).

Are there universal gfx cards available, or has anyone seen or heard of a card for this machine? Cheers

I think you might be out of luck. As Laptops aren't like PCs where you can upgrade them by single parts all the time. Really have to buy it as is, and stick with it. But to OP, your laptop should be fine.

I downloaded the one from team inferno for xrt, and was practicing. I actually find i lose control too easily, and spin out, rather I can control the hard track setup easier in a drift. Am I perhaps just giving to hard to do the weight transfer? or should I perhaps just use the hard track since i seem more used to that kind of feel?

Also, you are restricted to the XRG i would assume for drifting, instead of XRT. I accidently was drifting (practicing) with the XRG last night lol, the cars look too alike.

Go to livetocruise.net and post on the forums there. I don't think they will have it so others can set it up. Even if they do, you probably should have an s2 license. However good luck on it.

I get a message that MSCOMCTL.ocx is not registered and that a file is missing or invalid. I googled that file name and it is open to download. I just dont know if I should download this that would be put in the system32 dir. Error message also says Run-Time error '339'. Thanks in advance.

I found when driving the XFG and touching the apex, sometimes it would cause me to bounce on my side if going fast and hard enough. Perhaps the setup I was using had too stiff of a suspension.

I agree with OP, having slight slip is okay. It allows you to go in a little faster, and you regain full grip pretty quickly to accellerate out. Also Gran Turismo is pretty realistic on physics, just harder to feel using a game pad. I wish there was a desk I could use to hook up my g25 to the ps2.

I'd like to see damage so that if you are in a nasty enough of an accident, that the car becomes unusable.

I've never done a race in the oval. I don't care much for those races on tv, I like the tigher tracks, where they use so much torque to pull out of corners and such

I use a g25, looked at picture of that porsche wheel. It has a nice amount of buttons on the wheel, thatll be nice for handbraking, the horn and such.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Buy them a BMW M5 and point them in the direction of an airfield.

Seriously though, if they think NFS is in anyway realistic then don't waste your time trying to tell them otherwise, even when I was a child I knew NFS was totally fake. I expect these are the people we have to put up with on the road, took their test 10 times to pass it, don't listen to the instructor, and think they can take a turn at any speed they want without crashing.

M5s solve all of lifes problems. http://www.trader.ca/powerpage ... id=41290&adid=6341146 If only i had 40 grand.
