The Epic Police Pram
JO53PHS
S2 licensed
Many of you have been eagerly anticipating the creation of this. One of you has indeed called the idea truly '1337'. Although most of you probably don't give a toss (If so please go away ).

We're making it for a charity pram race. Whilst there is a prize for best pram, there is no prize for best paint job.

But here it is anyway

Joseph's Epic Police Pram (Work in progress)

So I started by sanding down the areas for painting, which was followed by masking it all up for painting, and then spraying with white primer.

Then, the Flourescent yellow paint went on

And finally, the lacquer

And once all the masking tape was removed, I uncovered this:

I'm a bit annoyed, because in a way it looks too good to have been done by my dad and myself

2 Cans of White Primer: £10
2 Cans of Flourescent Yellow Paint: £10

A Flourescent yellow police pram: Priceless

If you're wondering where the hell the seat is, I un-clipped it so that it didn't get covered in paint. I'm gonna attach some thin bits of plywood to the side to allow me to do a police livery. I have already bought a siren which I shall fit soon, and I may also get some blue flashing lights. My dad wants to run a rotating beacon light off a 12v battery, although that would probably be too heavy, and generally epic fail

More work is expected on the police pram in the next 2 weeks

I know, my beloved pram really isn't that special

My first skin

Hi guys, this is my first skin made for LFS. It's made to resemble the Trans Island bus services livery. I know the skin colouring is abit crude cos I made it entirely in MS Paint using the paint brush. But still, it looks pretty good in game, except for uneven colouring (due to shaky hands )

Trans Island Bus Services is a bus operator in Singapore. It has since been merged into SMRT Group to form SMRT Buses. The livery is of a red and black one. To me it looked pretty disgusting :P The Trans Island livery is way cooler... XD

For comparison:

The real life:

In-game:
the first two attachments of the XRG in garage

For Singaporeans, it'll be more familiar to you. Anyway, enjoy!

P.S. Any kind S2 soul can help me upload the skin to LFSW. If you could help me upload it, great thanks to you!

P.S.2 Pardon me for using the old XRG template as I couldn't find the one for Patch Z in JPG format. But still works a treat.

Quote from Agarash :Maybe our lineup could be 4 XFusion and one driver as a privateer (not fighting for the team points from the beginning of the event). I'm gonna announce the final lineup a day before the race.

Okey... please make sure you do use a different livery for the car wich will start as privateer for this event. For example you can use a red or yellow livery, or even a livery you regulary use for the Kyoto 500 (If you have CART logo pack on it)

Quote from hp999 :So I should strech it down?

i`d say so make the test to find out how much. depending on car some parts wont be stretched.

Maybe you try to make a Samsung livery by starting with the logo big on the sides.

Quote from hyntty :Chris btw: You were very enthusiastic about me passing Yann there... but you could have realized we're teammates and it's not to our advantage to battle very much for positions as a team.

(Why do I have a feeling the above is going to backfire in an embarrassing way?)

Yeah I realised (same livery is a bit of a giveaway you know...) but why did you almost run into each other then?

BrawnGP's livery isn't anything special, although it does look well, I think its only been worn due to the fact Brawn are running away in F1.

As requested I tried applying the Brawn GP livery onto the RB4.

Annoyingly "Imageshack" seems not to allow names containing underscores so you have to rename it after eventually downloading.
(If you can tell me there's a free image host where this is possible, please do so!)

The vegetable racing car that runs on chocolate

May 05 2009
Here's a green motorsport vision with a difference: a racing car built from vegetables and running on waste chocolate.
Conceived and constructed by experts at Warwick University, the WorldFirst Formula 3 car takes environmentalism to extreme new levels.

If you excuse the vegetable, uh, garnish, the WorldFirst doesn't look all that unusual in the photographs. As a Formula 3 design it appears exactly like the miniature F1 car it is trying to be. The differences come at root - haha - level. This car isn't quite as simple as it seems.
Take the steering wheel. It's a composite material, made from carrots, and other root vegetables. The wing mirrors are made out of potato starch. Flax fibre finds its way into the seat shell, the bib, and the wing endplates. The seat foam is derived from soybean oil and recycled polyester.

Air cleaning radiators and biodiesel

The bodywork sidepods are a combination of glass fibre and resin produced from recycled plastic bottles. There's more recycled plastic in the wiring loom, along with recycled aluminium. Recycled carbon fibre is used for the engine cover and damper hatch. Meanwhile the brakes are deliberately not carbon composite for eco purposes.
Soon the brake pads will be constructed from cashew nut shells - an innovation cribbed from the WorldFirst's Warwick predecessor, EcoOne (a small Formula Student single seater that also featured potato tyres and hemp bodywork). Apparently even the WorldFirst's livery is recyclable. And the radiators actually clean the air as it moves.
That's because these are coated with a special catalyst that converts ozone to oxygen. Under the hood, the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine has been recalibrated by Scott Racing to run on biodiesel - incorporating waste chocolate and vegetables - and all its lubrication is based on plant oils. It's a comprehensive piece of work.
As for performance - cornering speeds are up to 125mph...

Meet the team

The team behind the project are all based at Warwick University, encompassing the Warwick Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre and Warwick Manufacturing Group. Project Manager is James Meredith, assisted by Dr Kerry Kirwan, Dr Steve Maggs, Steve Lambert and Ben Wood - who also project managed EcoOne. Best of luck to them.
You might, however, be wondering what the point is. WorldFirst is simply an attempt to prove there's more to green motoring thinking than adjusting the engine technology - as seems to be the case with most of the eco road cars currently available. This project shows sustainability can be far more widespread.
"It's been very exciting working on the project and important for our team to develop a working example of a truly 'Green' motor racing car," comments Meredith. "The WorldFirst project expels the myth that performance needs to be compromised when developing the sustainable motor vehicles of the future"
Right on.

Murray Motorsport Cup Season 2:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A SIGN UP THREAD AND ALL OF THE FOLLOWING IS JUST COPIED AND PASTED HERE FROM HERE SO IF IT SAYS "TO DO SOMETHING IN A THREAD IN THIS SUB-FORUM" IT MEANS HERE

SIGN UPS OFFICIALLY OPEN HERE !

Hi Guys,

After a disappointing first season of the Murray Motorsport Cup, the league is back and better than ever. The rules/ info are found below. The sign ups are not open yet, they will be open 4-5 weeks before the first round (late may early June) so please be patient.

GENERAL:
The Murray Motorsport Cup Season 2 will be similar to the last season in a lot of ways, the car is the main way its similer as its still ONLY XFG. Last season there were prizes for the top three finishers in the cup, this season there will be a prize for the winner of the cup and the highest overall climber from all the races added together. Another small change is that in the Murray Motorsport Cup season 1 the person who got fastest lap got 1 extra point and the person who got pole position received 1 extra point too, but in this season to limit the amount of points the winner of the round will get (as the person who gets pole position, fastest lap and race wins are usually the same person) you will still receive an extra point for pole position but not fastest lap, instead the highest climber will get an extra point. This is explained in more detail at the bottom of the page. We will also be using weight ballasts which are explained further down the page. The Murray Motorsport Season 2 will also have 3 races on half of the rounds during the season and last season we only had 2 races each round.

PRIZES:
The prize for first place in the cup will be Sparco Pit lane shoes worth €61.73 in the colour and size of your choice, the Summer selection(bright colours) are found here and the Winter selection(dark colours) are found here and the winner of the cup can choose (subject to availability) ANY of the runners found in the winter selection or the summer selection. The highest climber will receive any of the following three fireproof, fully homologated racing gloves. If the winner of the cup is the highest climber then we will go to the second highest climber and award him/her the prize. You can Choose from the lico base gloves found here, Sparco Hurricane gloves found here, or the Sparco Land gloves found here. These gloves range from €38.00 to €45.00 and are available in any colour or size. All of these prizes are provided by Murray Motorsport www.murraymotorsport.ie

WHEN?
The cup will start on Sunday the 5th of July. The series will run One day a week, most weeks, it will be on at 19.00 GMT. You must confirm availability before each round in the thread labeled “Round 1 Sign ups” if its round 1 or “Round 2 Sign ups” if it is round two etc... If you do not confirm availability before 17.00 GMT (BST/UTC+1) you will have to start at the back of the grid for race one.

THE WEBSITE:
Our website is under construction and will be up and running hopefully well before the series starts to post the results/cup stats/driver stats/championship standings there. There will also be replays of every official practice qualifying and race uploaded to the website as well.

BROADCAST/ LIVERY:
The series will be broadcasted so you will need to apply number plates to your skin and post the skin in the thread labelled “Skins”, in the MMS Cup Season 2 sub-forum. You will also be asked to have a Murray Motorsport logo on the car, I will post a logo in a closed thread labelled “MMS Logo” but this is not compulsory, but as we are giving out over €100 for this cup we would greatly appreciate if you guys would participate and put a logo on your car if you are unable to due to lack of space etc… we would understand. We will have commentators for the events too.

WHO’S RUNNING IT?
The event will be run by me (Niall Murray[n-murray]) and Andy O’ Brien [aobrien] but Andy and I will be participating in the event so NDR (New Dimensions Racing), who run many excellently run championships, leagues, challenges, cups and events such as LFSBC (LFS beginner challenge) season 1, 2 and now the season three which is running with NDRC (NDR Challenge) Kyoto 250, new year events and many, many more will be running it during the races and helping after with the results, reports, championship standings etc...etc…,

EACH NIGHT:
There are 6 Rounds in the season and 3 of those rounds have 2 races a night and 3 have 3 races. If there are 2 races that night then qualifying will be 15 minutes long and 20 minutes long if there are 3 races, there will be 35 mins (approx.) of racing if there are 2 races a night and 40 mins (approx.) if there are 3 races. Each race night will consist of official practice where the drivers MUST be in the server for it but it is not mandatory, Qualifying and 2-3 races. If a driver arrives into the server late they will be put back 4 places in the qualifying results. If there are two races that night for race 1 your grid position is where you qualify but for race two the top 8 will be reversed to give the people that crashed in race one or qualifying a chance. If there is three races that night then you will start race one where you qualify and start race two where you finish for race 1 but for race three I will draw a number between 1 and 10 will be drawn from a hat and from that number will be reversed (if I draw 8 from the hat then the drivers that finished race 2 from 1st to 8th will get reversed). There will be points awarded for the top eight drivers. Pole position and highest climber will both receive 1 extra point.

WEIGHT BALLAST:
We will also be introducing weight ballast to the MMS Cup. It will be used in all rounds including the first round with the exception of the first race in the first round. The ballast is determined by your result from the previous race. For race Two on in the first round you will be required to have 25 kg if you win race one which means everyone ahead of you will have ballast on there car as the top 8 get reversed. For race 3 that night if you win again you will have to carry 25 kg of ballast. If you win race 3 then you will have to carry your ballast in ALL officially timed sessions (ie: Official Practice and Qualifying) of the next round and race one.

Race Position.............................Weight Ballast (Kg without fuel or driver)
......1st......................................... ..............25
......2nd......................................... ..............23
......3rd......................................... ..............21
......4th......................................... ..............18
......5th......................................... ..............15
......6th......................................... ..............13
......7th......................................... ...............9
......8th......................................... ...............5

WANT TO SIGN UP?
Sign ups will be open about 3-5 weeks before the first round(31st May-14 June)and closed the day before the first event (Saturday 4th June) at 20.00, so we would like you to copy and paste the following into this thread and fill it out.

CALENDAR:
Please find the calendar in the thread called “MMS Cup Season 2 Calendar”.

CHAT:
The rule for chat is from the time when an admin says “No Chat” till when an admin says “Free To Chat” there cannot be any chat. If you chat during a race an admin will give you a drive through penalty straight away and there’s no exceptions (unless otherwise stated from an admin). If you do not take your drive through penalty within 3 laps from the next time you cross the start/finish line after it was given to you, it will go to the next stage and the stages are drive through penalty then stop-go penalty then 1 lap holding penalty [stay in a pit box until leader has passed the point he was at when you first came to the pit box (one full leader lap)] then a black flag(disqualification from session). If you fail to do a drive through within three laps but the race is over during those three laps you will receive a 20-30 second penalty considering the severity of the offence, you will also receive a 20 second penalty if you chat on the last lap.

Dropped Round:
The dropped round rule allows drivers that got hit off or messed up on one round to still be in with a chance of winning the cup. There are 6 rounds, so for the dropped round you drop the round that you scored the least amount of points in. At the end of the cup the points will be added up and you get your final score by adding your best 5 rounds.

Feel free to pm me or Andy about Anything to do with the cup.

AND REMEMBER IN THIS SEASON WE HAVE PEOPLE TO WATCH YOU ON THE TRACK SO ANY CRASHERS WILL BE PUNISHED !
Thanks in advance

My first completed skin. Actually, just about my first skin, period...

The story behind it was that it started as a skin to advertise my fictitious racing team, which I used (and will use again) in a roleplay on the forum displayed on the rear spoiler. Eventually, I started to incorporate bits of the storyline I had created in the past two events into this skin. One of my characters, who is prone to bouts of immaturity, wrote something on my other character's helmet. (Anyone who's seen the Top Gear Vietnam Special will get an idea of what was written on the helmet in question) The retaliation for that act was originally to sew a large patch of that thing onto his overalls. The pink livery and gay pride flags haphazardly affixed next to his name are a continuation of that (or would have been, had I not agreed to a partnership with another competitor. That one character is straight, just to make it even funnier.)

Like they said tho, there ARE no shots of the game Ken Block is helping them develop (DiRT 2) being as none exist yet. So they just used a car with his livery (The LFS Shot) My point was only, why not use a forza 2 car with his livery, being as it's an XBOX 360 forum.....

@Fu3L: whether daloonie understood your problem or not, he gave you the solution. Download the skin and put it in your lfs/data/skins folder so it is usable ingame offline. Maybe you might rename it there or make a new car livery when you are in the box. If it still won't work, upload the skin you like on your lfs desktop. The reason for your problem you must find out by yourself now but all possible solutions are given IMHO.

Drivers, please note the amended Rulebook and Sporting Code. Livery requirements are now posted in the sporting code. For this series, they're quite simple and we'll follow the sporting code. We will not be doing any required badges or numberplates.

It is noted in the sporting code that Number Plates are to be left blank in officially timed sessions. Please do so - it may not make sense to you, but it will help in my post-race stats editing.

Experion Racing Team News + Events Thread 2009

4th of April 2009

Hello!

Recently, there has been quite a few changes in Experion Racing, we have seen the loss of a manager, to Elite Racing, (Chris Wilkinson) and we've seen a new manager come in (Jack Ward [jwardy]). So today, I would like to announce our new head manager to the management group. Jack has previous experience in Adaptive Racing and Parkfield Motorsport, of which he has helped amass quite a number of race wins, and the team of which he started his racing days off with, Official Race Backmarkers. Jack has been brought on board the management team to stregthen/improve our current form. The former driver was happy to take up this role, as he feels it will improve both his skills and the teams. We also will see more changes in Experion as the time goes on this week, and also in IMA, the Race Club of ERT, (of which it is independent of, and just ran by,).

Also, on another note, our GTAL campaign starts today, with Klaidas Gasiunas and Jack Ward on board. The FZER-01 has run in some testing over the weeks, and we feel it's strong enough to challenge in the higher points scoring positions. The livery is new too, which is unusual, and will be run for the first round at Blackwood Grand Prix Reversed (BL1R). This circuit presents many challenges, and in my opinion, an ideal place to kick the season off.

GTAL was very promising with a 5th place finish which may be a 3rd place point scoring because of a guest team and maybe a DQ for another. After a stunning drive from Jack Ward , Kladias Gasiunas soon tool over to live up to Jack's standards and we were lying in fourth place with just 7 minutes to go, unfortunatley Kladias' tyres gave in and we had to settle for 5th but an incredible result for us.
Elsewhere ERT also had a podium finish in the NDRC with myself Andy O'Brien taking 3rd place. A strong quallifying saw Andy 3rd on the grid with Niall in LFS BC taking 3rd too . Unfortunatley Nialls look ran out but kept 5th position while Andy had a solid drive from start to finish.
PPD which is our sister/development team showed great potential with after lap 1 Dan Buck taking the lead. His luck ran out with connection difficulties with connection , but in the end PPD secured all positions on the podium with Dan Jaehnig taking the win with Nico Demec and Lucas Senna taking 2nd and 3rd.

11th of April 2009

Hello! Todays we're entering the 9 Hours Of Aston with one ERT FZR in the GT500 catagory, and PPD are entering a car in it too, which will be ran in the GTLite class. The team consists of Zach Weiss of ERT, who has previous experience with this car on this track, and is an invaluable asset to the team. Alongside him, Chris Wilkinson, now of EliteRacing, ex-ERT driver, has been signed on a one race deal. His experience will be crucial in the teams performance. Chris was signed late on Thursday, which was a rushed deal, but we're confident he can show a good performance to all those who are watching. Dan Buck, PPDRookie Team member, is the least experience in endurance racing of the three, with him being paired with the others making it an interesting mix of experience levels. We hope to have both cars finish well in both classes, and we'll be hoping for a good result! Results will follow.....

18th of April 2009

Today, the IMA Open Wheel Trophy took place, with Joe Shaw capturing the drivers championship with 2 races to go, coming into this round, it was pretty much wrapped up already, but he secured it tonight, winning in the 2nd race, with fellow ERT driver Ben Grindle showing a great display also, winning race 1. The field consisted of Ben,Joe,James,Dan S., Kevin Higgins, Brad Tarlton, Chris Wilkinson, and Yann Laprevotte. DNFs for James and Dan in race 1, with James' being resulted from a collision with Chris Wilkinson due to James running wide before the chicane. Dan had encountered problems and a driver error ended his race, with him not staying for race 2. Well done Joe! Well deserved win!

TBO Challenge:
Well done to Jack Ward (jwardy) who put on a great race in the IMA TBO Challenge last night.. The new league has had a big hit and has been quite popular with many sign ups and plenty of people tuning in to watch the event on the live stream...

Jack who drove, who is a rear wheel drive man stuck with what he know's and choose the XRT for the series. Jack has been showing consistant driving in the league always in the top ten and his main issue has been preserving the tyres. Last night however the coasts changed last night when Jack had a strong show in race one coming home to take the flag on the final step of the podium..
Race 2 seen the reverse grid , which reverses the top eight finishers from race one. Jack was driving avery quiet race early on but then as the race was coming to a close Jack was lying in second place. Unfortunatley for the Karma Clan driver Simones he had ran out of fuel half way through the lap and handed the lead to Jack who came home to take the flag with his first win in the series.

Very well done Jack and hope you keep up the strong performances!

Chris' Return!

Today I'm delighted to announce that Chris Wilkinson has decided to join Experion Racing again! Chris left Experion a few weeks ago hoping to get a drive in the GTAL and many more leagues also. He joined Elite Racing , but soon after found it wasn't the place for him and was looking for a team.
We were more than delighted to accept Chris back into our team and in time he may become a manager!
Here is what Chris had to say;
"Im thrilled to bits to rejoin Experion Racing. After Elite Racing wasn't working for me, I decided that with the recent changes that Experion Racing are going through that it was still the place for me. Thanks to all the guys at ERT who are happy to let me back!
Chris will have immediate impact in the team , taking part in the GTAL this weekend alongside Jack Ward in the GT2 FZR!
We have high hopes for the GTAL as we are currently holding third position in the championship standings!

More information to follow this weekend on the GTAL!

According to the PH, it will stay as is until the end of the season then Virgin take ownership of the livery and can sell off space to other sponsors.

Quote :The new Brawn GP team has followed its dream start to the season by reportedly signing Richard Branson’s Virgin Group for a two-year sponsorship deal. According to SportsPro magazine there’ll be a straightforward $250k fee payable every race by Virgin to keep the Australia race logos on the car this season, but next year the bill goes up to $30m. Virgin will then control the entire livery package, so will be able to sub-let space and keep any additional revenue. It’s been speculated that space on the car could be worth up to $80m, so everyone’s a winner.

And before anyone points out this thread, I'm requesting a Footwork FA15 livery for the FO8. I actually posted there, too, but it ended out to be a FOX skin instead. While it may seem more appropriate for that, I have a love for the FO8, as it's beasty nature seems 1994-ish to me. In that thread there is the pictures required, so if you want to take the oppertunity to skin this car I love, go ahead. I won't moan if you don't take it up, it would just leave a hole in my heart.

I would appreciate it if Bean0 did it, as I have a burning love for his speedy work.

Quote from Becky Rose :Everyone in the anti camp argued Hamilton down because he had a winning car, they now have what they always wanted and that's to see Hamilton in a mid to low order car, and look what the guy did with it ... and they're still not happy.

+1, I was about to say the same thing. However, I know he was lucky with 8 "free" positions, but KERS (boo!:thumbsdow) and strategy are not luck. They are competitive advantages (unfair maybe, in the case of KERS) available to everyone, but they are not luck :nol2:. Anyway, I'm very interested to see how he (and everyone else) does in Malaysia.

I was kind of glad the McLaren was bad this year. We finally get to see Hamilton in a bad car and settle the issue of whether he is a "great" driver or just a "good" driver and the bickering would stop (but probably not... maybe if he were to race a proven driver in the same car... like...um... Alonso...oh wait. )

Button and Barrichello (and others) have winning cars, but no one criticizes them. If we had a poll like this for Australia 08, I doubt Hamilton would have had as many votes for driver of the day. I voted for Buemi, btw.

Don't get me wrong, I like the 3 B's (Button, Barrichello, BrawnGP) and would be very happy to see either of them--or (almost) anyone else on the grid for that matter--win the championship. BrawnGP is my new second favorite team. I even like how the car looks. I hope they keep the livery clean, like it is now without a lot of sponsor logos.
