Right, time for some bumpage.

Who else is ready to pay their deposits and confirm their attendance? It would be nice if we could extend the booking to 20+. The king of pie (felplacerad) is flying over from Sweden for this, so if he can make it, people in England have no excuse!

Post away...

LFS UK Karting Meet 2008

Some of you may rememeber past LFS meetings:
1. Karting 2005: details / afterwards (thanks to Shaun)
2. Karting 2006: details / afterwards (thanks to Will / Tristan)
3. Race-sim centre 2007: details / afterwards (thanks to yours truly)
4. Karting 2008: ???

Since we've had two meetings in the midlands and one down south, it seems fair that the next should be up north. Of course I'm completely unbiased. Race sim centres don't seem that popular, so a return to karting seems in order.

Event Info
The venue: Karting North East - Map
The track: Large aerial photo, recent photos: 1, 2, 3.
The karts: 390cc twin engine 60mph karts, up to 25 on track at once
The event: Racing individually, everyone against everyone else. 15 minutes practise each, followed by 15 minutes qualifying, followed by a 30 minute race. Race data will be displayed on a plasma screen in the clubhouse so each team can see their progress. A presentation will be held in the clubhouse with trophies being awarded to each of the winning team as well as a medal for the fastest lap of the race.
The date: Saturday 23rd August 2008
The time: You need to arrive at the karting centre by 2pm. From about midday, people can meet at The Seaton Lane Inn, to get to know one another a bit before the battle commences. They seem to do a decent food and serve from midday, plus only a short drive to the karting centre.
The cost: £61.69 each - includes third party and personal accident insurance
50% deposit to be paid up front

Thanks felplacerad.
I guess I could have found it if I kept looking, but since the link in the manual was dead ... I thought I'd better ask.
Nevertheless, now that I've got it ... I gave it a try and think it's a great feature.

Now, is there any way to view the World Record laps for each track?

Thanks again

First of all thanks to felplacerad for providing a backup server for the race tonight. After a internet upgrade our TDRT server have had some problems.
To be honest I hadn´t heard of the FLP/m team yet. But these guys/team is one of the most friendly, fair and helpful ones I have ever met in LFS.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
The race started about in time and there were 2 classes og cars GTR´s and UF1´s.

33 laps at Aston historic took us about 1 hour and 20 mins.

Gratulation to the provisional winners:

RudiTurbo (UF1) and FLP/m Jouman (XRR).

Still have to watch the replay before the final and official result to follow. Especially the rule as posted in my post #1, 4th October 2007, 18:06 concerns me a little...

"Car Reset will be allowed but result in a 1 lap penalty."

As organizer of this race I´d like to appologise for the to night seen behaviour of some racers. I was very surprised to watch their stunts in the replay. This simply isn´t the kind of racing/racers TDRT wants to see in an endurance race.

1 team in future will not get invited in any TDRT organized races. This acting tonight was Blackwood Demo Carpark like (or worse).

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Some highlights of my own race:

- choosing a wrong set to start with...

- after 14 seconds in the race getting pushed into the walls suffering major damage...

- stop and go penalty and a drive trough for talking mobile phone. Speeding while in the pits...

- disconnect at middle of race and rejoining with the same wrong set and another 100% fuel load ...

- too many spins resulting in blue flag messages because a UF1 was about to overlap my FXR...

But all in all I did have a nice time on the racetrack tonight - learned some of the track.
TDRT´s upcoming participation in the 16 hours race of Aston Historic will hopefully become a little better.

Regards, [TDRT] R.Kolz

This program allows you to follow an live LFS race without being connected to the host.
After selecting a racer from the list it displays: splittimes, bestlap, current position, pitstops. When a racer has a yellow or blue flag, the flag will appear infront of the racers nickname.
The drawing of the track with the racers seems a bit basic. I'm working to display the track based on the smx files, but i have some problems with smooth rendering.
I've release RS because the old lfsspecator didnt work with the X update. It might not look as lfsspectator, next release will contain more features. The main thing is that the basic is released.

Edit: Race Spectator 0.2
Right, after some hard work, and hunting bugs RS 0.2 is done. I've splitted the program in several windows.
You can make each window visible and hide it too, you can decide which information you would like to see.
I've included an team tracking feature. In the config file you need to add the lfs usernames of each 'team member' which is going to drive in the 'team race event'. It doesnt matter who is driving, the teamlaps will be counted.
Unzip the rar file and execute RaceSpectator.exe
You need .net Framework 0.2 to make it work. link: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=543212#post543212

See the Race Spectator manual and for more screenshots.

LFS Race Viewer 0.3

LFS Race Viewer

You can enjoy LFS races without searching for the action. This program searches for the closest battles and focuses on them. It stays at the battle for a x (custom) amount of seconds. Afterwards the search continues. It could happen that the camera focus on the same battle again! When a crash occurs and causes an yellow flag, the camera focuses on it immediately.
If you want to disable Race Viewer temporarily you can uncheck the "Enable Race Viewer". You can have LFS in fullscreen mode.

You can launch LFS from the program itself (if the settings are correct). Or you can do it manually :
type /insim=portnumber
* change the portnumber to the “LFS Port” you have in the Options dialog.
When Race Viewer is connect to LFS, you can play a replay or go online to watch some action!

This version of Race Viewer uses the LFS TV Camera as a base.
I’m working on some ideas for the next couple of updates.
- Custom Cameras.
- Camera focus based on priority.
- Some race statistics.

Your ideas & criticism are more that welcome.

OMG, amazing, i never noticed the racing groove changed over time and got any darker! I read the whole thread carefully and I'm astonished by the fact that the raceline is not hardcoded at all, or the fact that the raceline was hardly noticable at the first times i played LFS. I could kill myself for not noticing this, i'm far too much into details fot that :P

I never removed my game installation over time, only added lots of stuff and made duplicates, but that 'groove' information remained untouched. I's just a bit strange that when racing over 15000 laps on Aston Club with a FormulaXR (online at Redline, loads of players) the line is still not very dark at all. Could there be some possible explanation for this?

Oh and btw, why are people so scared of changing their LFS installation? You can easily make more copies of them since LFS is not an 'installation' integrated into the System's registry. The term 'installing LFS' is thereby impossible. Also people who lose all their game information on reinstalling the OS makes me *sigh* ,definately when they keep asking for setups over and over again because of their silly actions. Is it that much to ask to understand the basics of your filesystem? It's the least you should know when using a computer IMHO. (This came up when i read WIGGA's post, your reasons for not "re-installing" are hilarious)

@felplacerad

Tnx for giving the solution to the main question, at last

Oh damnnnnnnn, did you get offended FELPLACERAD?!?! ROFL, I'm sorry if you felt my statement was personal but your parents are responsible for the way you become and I'm sorry if you fit the bill of my statement and felt if it was directed towards you. You can still make the change mentally, but physically.......damnnnn you look like a troll on that lfsworld pic. Hopefully you learn to become unbecoming of a troll. LMFAO!

You can get 'em online if you sign up to the high res skins download service. Otherwise, there's a new big skinpack put together by Felplacerad which has just been released. It's over here

Or simply trawl through the skins section of the forum here.

You could also try out some higher res track textures if you like. Link's in my signature below.

Good luck

I think if you miss the optimum braking point by a margin you shouldn't be looking to turn towards the apex, you should accept a wider line so as not to affect anyone behind you, this way you can brake deep into the corner and coast around the outside before picking up speed again, exactly as felplacerad did in his video. :wizard:

yea, i can relate to felplacerad, get the throttle stuck if i brake and change down at the same time too. i dont use a G25 i use a DFP with a cheap TM FGT throttle pedal as a clutch.
