I went on last night for few races. Incredibly fun, close racing,at the back of the pack at least . I will be on again tonight bringing up the rear.

Quote from hagenisse :Not on track..? Why do race cars use it (in series where its allowed of course) then?

So they can still steer around a crash and not slide into it.

Quote from SniperX :(And the 100m should be 100 feet, its corrected in this thread... (approx 33 meters))

I saw that. But doesn't it take the same amount of force to lock a tire regardless of how "big" the brakes are? Bigger brakes wont make your car stop faster if you're already locking them up in the first place(no abs). That was my point to the person I quoted.

Quote from el pibe :u kno what ? just put BIGGER and MORE EFFICIENT brakes and you will stop in less than a 100m at 100km/h . u have the rights to not reading me coz i am a teenager and i dont drive yet but i am 99.9% sure that my option will work better than your ABS or no ABS discussion....

If your wheels lock with "smaller" brakes, "bigger" brakes wouldn't solve the locking issue. Right?

Quote from DragonCommando :ABS won't help you in a spin, and it wouldent be usefull going backwards anyway. ABS isn't designed to stop your car, its designed to help you steer it away from a collision. If you try to steer going backwards you will just cause another spin. I ususaly use this to my advantage and do a J-turn.

The most common misconception about ABS is that it is there to help stop your car, this is why people still hit stuff even when ABS kicks in. ABS won't magicaly stop your car, it will allow most drivers to steer around a collision with the brake pedal to the floor. Its idiot proofing that doesn't quite idiot proof. This is because most people just put the brake pedal to the floor and brace for impact, even though they could very easily, thanks to ABS, steer around.

I've asked alot of people and they all say "ABS helps you stop your car" That is NOT what it was designed for.

I will agree with that. Idiot proofing underestimates the idiots.

Quote from anttt69 :tbh if you find yourself driving backwards then you've already failed.

why on earth do we need brake help when driving backwards?

In a spin, ABS when going backwards may be a good idea.

For some reason, I hate Blackwood. Maybe I should say that I Hate the long straight, especially in the slower cars. The rest of the track is fun, but I could probably take a nap on the back stretch.

I don't beleive racing rules are that strict. If you excersise plenty of common sense and respect for fellow racers we wouldn't even need rules.

But you have to outline every aspect in the rules because when someone messes up, they say " uh uhhhh, where is it in the rule book?"

Its the same reason there are laws about not having sex with sheep and tags on your hair dryer telling you not to use it in the shower.

Quote from StableX :braking for T1 at Limerock I really struggle with. I wish it was possible to change the brake pedal sensitivity as my brake pedal, once you touch it the wheels seem to lock up too much and causes a lack of control so I tend to not get past a mid 1.04

I've noticed that sometimes when my brakes are being "touchy" it helps if I FULLY depress it a few times. Check your red brake scale on screen to make sure its moving the same as how much your pressing the pedal.

You may have to recalibrate it also. but normally just a few full presses helps.

Quote from lars.se :Doesn't anybody know what could be causing this? The reason why I bought this game was to be able to race online.
Any Support email I can contact?
Thanks

I used to get that from time to time, I would exit out of LFS all the way, then restart. that would work sometime. Make sure you don't have anything else using the internet at the same time, like p2p programs or anything.

Quote from bbman :If you shift from 1st to 2nd without using the clutch, the plates won't heat as they didn't came apart... If however you just let go of the clutch with full throttle from standstill and your tyres aren't spinning, the clutch won't grip properly and you'll get a massive amount of heat in it...

You're probably right, all i know is something doesn't sound right if I go from first to second without lifting.

But I avoid the whole issue by just shifting properly.

Quote from Crommi :This is incorrect, lifting the throttle is required to change up as AndroidXP explained. Clutchkick can be used aswell but it can be slower and will cause your clutch to heat up. On some tracks you can also use bumps to switch gears without having to lift throttle, for an example those tram tracks on SO6 main straight.

You cannot burn your clutch if you try to shift without lifting the throttle or using clutch, but you're not going to get on next gear either.

Maybe I'll have to check, but I do beleive we've said the same thing. You can shift into 1st and second without lifting off the throttle. but then you burn the clutch......like I stated previously.

Or you can clutch kick, and not lift off.....but then again thats not how you shift it properly is it?

Thanks
