So would anyone care to report on how the cars feel with the new NTM- and steering changes introduced in this build? In what ways are the cars different?

So what did GoDaddy do then that pissed of Anon then???

Well they sponsored both the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), which made them hugely unpopular with Anoymous..

Is there any way of telling whether iRacing is making money? In my country (Norway) all registered companies have to disclose all such information, and it's readily available on the internet for anyone to see. Is there a similar system in the US?

(Something tells me the answer is 'no'..)

Quote from PMD9409 :
Their NTM apparantly can change drastically in a couple days (beta NTM to new NTM), and that video was probably created over the last week, so it has been changed quite a bit since then.

When is the new build rolling out, again? Have they said anything at all about a new incarnation of the NTM, or are you just speculating?

I've been away from sim racing for several months now, due to moving and other things. I had "planned" that iRacing 2.0 would pull me back in this autumn. However, with the massive fail they've got going on right now, it turned out to be the new build of Netkar that brought me back to simming! Unexpected, but cool enough.

In terms of the "number of boxes ticked", iRacing is still ahead, though. I don't care what other people might be saying, I think the iRacing netcode is second to none. I much prefer their predictive code to cars jittering and bouncing around like we see in other sims. Also, I like the sound in general, and the crispness of the graphics. The transmission model is better than netkar (which pretty much doesn't have one...). Once they nail the tire model their service is pretty much complete; that's the time to start working on dynamic lighting and track surfaces, weather and other things.

So I chose to remain optimistic! But I won't resubscribe until the tire model is fixed.

Quote from Rudy van Buren :http://www.virtualr.net/nordsc ... netkar-pro-preview-video/

So bumpy.. The typical "vertex bumps" which are found in most netkar addon tracks. I suspect it's because of too big grids in the track surface mesh. Ruins some tracks completely, like Barcelona.

FIA GT1 2010 - Algarve - The first part of the race is freaking brilliant. Pass after pass after pass. GT1 racing is so sweet.

Amazing! Thank you for sharing

Too much longitudinal grip, too little lateral. This makes it too soft, sliding and forgiving. It needs more "snap". But boy, is it fun!!!

Quote from DeKo :I'l be running it, I can just about run a high 47.2 in qual, want to get faster and into a higher split though.

Nobody's done a 47.2, neither in quali nor practice..

Quote from Bean0 :It's probably still my favourite car, just there's no bloody official races.

I had Monday off to recover from MoE, so managed to join the 11am one full of Aussies, it's the only time I've seen sufficient numbers

Well then you haven't been looking! We get official races every Friday, Sunday, Saturday and Monday. (Friday and Sunday 20:45 GMT are the biggest ones in the Euro time zones, with at least one of them getting a split)

As for how the car feels now.. I agree that it desperately needs a new tire model. But that's not stopping me! It's great fun the way it is now. And after driving the KS Vintage it feels as precise as a surgeon's scalpel!

Quote from BlueFlame :The crash sound on netkar is horrendous, it may aswell be a guy shouting CRASH.

I'm not bothered with this, as I try not to crash... recommendable!

Regarding the skid sound, what annoys me is that it's completely gone in the wet. No skidding sound for me at all. Is it just me or do others have the same??

If you only just got your first wheel I'd definitely recommend spending some more time in LFS learning how to use it. Then you can try iRacing. That way your whole experience there will be much better.

You better get some units out to some of the well-known reviewers! (GTPlanet, SimHQ, VirtualR, Inside SimRacing...)

Having a good product is only part of the deal... without proper marketing AND communication AND support you won't get very far. It's amazing how many companies fail to realize this!

This seems like a good approach to me: getting a "virtual test rig" up and running and then using a simpler model to replicate those results in real time.

A more intuitive approach would of course be to bypass the "virtual test rig" altogether and simply use a real test rig, measuring the forces directly and then replicating this behavior in the sim. However I seem to recall reading somewhere that a real test rig is not designed to handle the extreme situations (loads) which are encountered in racing conditions. This is because tyre manufacturers don't give a rat's behind about what happens beyond normal driving conditions.

Ideally, sim developers would design a real testing rig which can actually replicate real-life stress situations. We're probably looking at millions of ££'s in research and development, though, so this is not possible for LFS alone. In a dream scenario all the major sim developers (Scavier, Simbin, Kunos, iRacing...) all chipped in to this, and got access to all data. Then they'd each design their own models trying to replicate this data in their various sims.

But this remains just a dream... so I think Scavier's route makes a lot of sense.
