Yeah, Perez is not turning to the left... he's just going straight... in a right turn!

Did you create that image? It's a very good composite and gives a great view of the situation.
To me it's a blatant deviation in a braking zone with a car already alongside. The approach being curved is the only thing which makes this a matter of debate at all.

Nope
Perez moved but I'm not sure if Perez moved under braking or just before. Anyways moving so late with someone so near you is always really dangerous because the guy behind you has more speed and literally no time to react. In the end Perez made a reactionary move too late which left Massa (who was fully committed at that point) no time or room to react. Perez has been driving really well this season but he needs to control his maldonado or he will end up as one...

And button. How the hell did he end up 4th

Apparently Alonso dove on Hulkenberg at the hairpin on the last lap (or next to last?) and they both ran wide, which let Button sneak by them.
Anyway, re: the Perez–Massa incident... it's ultimately Perez's fault (or possibly his car's fault, but it sounds like he isn't claiming any mechanical issue), but it's pretty damn close to what I'd call a racing incident. Massa's move was optimistic, Perez's reactionary move was wrongheaded. (If he'd just checked up and done an over-under he might have stayed ahead anyway when Massa inevitably put a couple tires off on exit.)

Sure, it looks bad for Perez (or Massa, depending on your POV/biases), but both drivers drove a sterling race up to that point. Can't believe Perez stayed as far up as he did on super-softs on that first stint. 34 laps! And Massa's pace toward the end was fantastic. Ultimately the wreck was just the product of a couple small mistakes.
Well said
Hulkenberg should be glad the Lotus deal fell through... lol

That's why Fernando should stick to passing on the outside
Very nearly had both Force Indias get run over on the last lap.
It looks to me like Massa got alongside of Perez, and Perez thought he was clear, and turned down, but Massa had the momentum, and slammed into Perez. Happens all the time in other major forms of motorsports.

Mistakes? Yes.
Never good to have open wheeled cars colliding at high speed though....
In hindsight- Perez should have been concentrating on where Massa was rather than trying to play peek-a-boo in Vettel's mirror? Or was he trying to defend the corner?
Either way a bad decision, he could not ever expect to challenge Vettel and if he wanted to defend then he should have moved into position earlier.
Massa made the mistake of expecting an easy pass, as everyone knew that Perez was on old tyres and had brake problems...

Overall the race was quite entertaining...still amazed that Mercedes can lose 160 hp (?) and still only one can catch them....looking forward to the next one.
Bear in mind it isn't 160hp all the time, as they can't unleash that energy for the whole lap. They'll use it on corner exits and to increase too speed where appropriate. The lack of "harvesting" under braking will have hurt as he will have had to use more front bias and less pedal effort to avoid locking.

Approx. 33 secs per lap in an approx 78-80 second lap with approx 60% full throttle per lap is quite a chunk.

It just proves this years Merc is further ahead than any car since the 88 McLaren.
The only reason that Ricciardo was the only one to pass Rosberg was because Perez was so freaking slow and holding up everyone.

Agreed, but it's still not 160hp down the whole time.
Really have to admire Force India's strategy in that race, though.

...but it is...or should be..a massive difference?
It made a difference to the lap times of the Mercedes most definitely...but I was expecting more. Dominance...mmm.
Very technical language used to describe it. I don't think he's conscious or talking or anything.
