44 on the entry list for Bristol

4 lead changes less so far this year than at the same time last year. However, Phoenix's repaved track doesn't seem to favor lead changes as much, so I'd say that it's a little bit ahead of last year because the Spring race last year was on the old configuration.

Wow, they did that for the Fall race in 2011 I thought that it was just last year

I stand corrected

So, this means that the lead change totals are down no matter how you look at it . Looking forward to Bristol and California however, I think it's safe to say that the lead change totals will be up. Last year's Spring race at Bristol featured only 13 lead changes and the California race was rain shortened and caution free (until the rain at lap 125, and the race end at lap 129). That race only had 9 lead changes.
NASCAR would probably make more money trying to market to dead people than they do trying to market to minorities.
I don't know. At Dover's June race last year it wasn't all white people at the track. Not to say it wasn't the clear majority, but still.

NASCAR's been doing a good job of becoming accessible to all ages and races recently. Now if they could ever be consistant with their calls and quit trying to make the races exciting rather than letting be as they will...
I enjoyed what Denny said.
Well, Bristol is back I'd say

Pretty good race yesterday really . Far too many tire problems though. Are they melting the bead or are they just wearing out?

AJ comes home 13th in the 51, but Kurt comes home in 4th in the 78. Kyle had a strong run as well . Danica finishes 5 laps down without a single problem in this race . Martinsville will be BAD for her.

Terry finished in front of her

Oh, and the Twitter fight between Hamlin and Logano returned after the race

Melting the bead.

As anticipated. They need to take away downforce like they planed to in the first place if so..
Was more along the lines of brake heat, not heat of the tire through the corner.

WTF was I thinking . Yeah, more downforce actually is needed in that case to reduce the use of brakes.. Despite the fact that they have more now than before..

Maybe they need softer tires to take the corners faster . I'm a little baffled.
Or, the more downforce helped them carry large amounts of speed throughout the corners and down the short straight into the next corner, where they had to use more than normal brakes due to the speed.

Why not just use a restrictor plate if we want to slow the car down
LOL We have no idea what they need to do.

I say make better tyres.

NASCAR's looked into reducing the power on the Sprint Cup cars actually. I'm opposed, but that doesn't matter.

In other news, ratings were up from last year in Bristol (8%). This means that 3/4 of the points races so far have marked gains. This as contracts are about to expire on TV deals. I don't really care other than I hope NBC gets the 2 packages left on the table if FOX doesn't.

With that said, I have been really disappointed with FOX's coverage this year. Commercials at ALL of the wrong times.
Ultimately, taking away aero grip and making mechanical grip more important would bring the racing to a standard that we used to enjoy in the late 80s and early 90s. However that would be a step back for NASCAR in a 'technology' standpoint, so put that idea behind you. Cutting down on the spoiler would be okay with me, but it is still too early to tell.

EDIT: Hmmm

These were some tweets that Goodyear made over the course of the Bristol weekend.

And some from the Phoenix weekend. (They didn't post any tweets about the beads in the Vegas race)

(Tweets listed are in reverse-chronological order)

Wow.... haha. I remember seeing that pic about a month ago. Do you remember who originally tweeted that pic? (I don't... I would like to know.)

Agree, yesterday when Kahne and someone, Kenseth maybe, were racing for the lead they went to commercial. We said, well here comes the lead change. And what do you know during that break there are two lead changes and Kahne gets ridiculously loose and saves it. Then later are yellow flag pit stops, commercials come on and they do the side-by-side thing. Why the hell didn't you do that when there was a race for the lead going on? So stupid.
Yep, they do the side by side at all the wrong times. I don't mind a full fledge commercial overload for nearly an entire caution period, but under green please at the most do side by side.

@Gougoodthing: No idea who originally put it up, I just saw it again and wanted to post it.
2nd in the Fantasy league... Not bad considering I completely forgot to change my picks for Phoenix and Vegas. (I remembered to change them before Bristol)
