During the check of my translations of help files I found bug which is causing LFS to crash.

Steps to reproduce:
Click one of the buttons with question mark. Staying at help screen try to reload translation (SHIFT+F5).

To be honest. I don't like folders in setups, neither. It was only suggestions for people want to have some folders.
For me naming like CAR_TRK_setup.set, with filtering for track switch should be enough.

I'v got quick workaround, for setups in folders.

Make a program like FlipCams, which will cycle through the setups folders after pressing a hotkey.
  • You will have to click on setup order after swapping the folder to reload the setup list
  • When you do some setup changes, then cycle one folder ahead, then select other setup; old setup will be autosaved into new folder
  • You will have to name the setups like CAR_TRK_name.set, because it will give you the possibility to see which folder you are using

First the tires physics should be fixed (longitudinal grip at least). It will give strong basement.
Then devs can play with damage, but I'm talking about engine, brakes, aero-parts, plus more suspension damages, which for me are more important than mirrors and bumpers falling off the car.

Nice and simple solution to the multiplying of custom cams. Well done FL!P.

I found one issue:
Why combination of CTRL+F9/CTRL+F10 is missing in the installation program?
I had to edit scripts to have shortcuts under these keys.

Talking about swapping side. There is a bug after displaying that error message. Menu option is not reverted to its original state, neither the driver position is updated after ending the race . Interesting is that if you go to pits instead of ending the race, in the garage driver position is updated. But after returning to track it is still not updated.

Maybe polish F1 driver Robert Kubica will try LFS (they have LFS-ForceDynamics sim at F1 team, but I don't know if he know that it is LFS). He is known as a sim fan, playing a lot of RBR. He was even polish champion in Colin MacRae Rally.
We had Intel Racing Tour in Poland this year, and top drivers from each city went to race with Robert on indoor kart track. Most of the finalyst were from polish LFS forum, and they talk with Robert about joining polish LFS community. So who knows...

Staying little bit off the topic. Comparing LFS into above article i have one doubt.
Is LFS 0% parallel adequate to true Ackerman angle, or maybe more.
Maybe this setup option in LFS should be changed to mark the point of true ackerman:
Parallel <-- Less Ackerman -- True Ackerman --> More Ackerman

At least, there should be road and dirt version of the rims, for cars that can be equipped with dirt tires of course.
Same goes to tire diameters. RB4 with knobbly/hybrid low profile tyres is kind a funny right now.

This is exactly what I was thinking yesterday after finishing my LX auto crossing. Right now we have hotlappers competition rather than usual auto crossing.

My next idea is to have a string of servers with different layout on each server, plus inSim app that would be able to control few servers.
Driver will have to participate on every server, and application should take care of allowing to have for example max 5 round on first layout, then connect to the second server with next layout and let to drive another 5 rounds, etc.
The summary of best times on all servers will give the standings.

But the main thing which is needed for that type of events is to allow host to disable downloading the layout.

I'm using 98 degrees + wide screen effect which covers top and bottom parts of the screen (the arms are not looking as long and unnatural as without it).

Slider called "FOV linearity" should make happy all the users.
The ones who don't like distortion on the edges will use 100% linearity, the others can apply more non-linearity.

I'm simply suggesting not to use the pic/gkg_garage.jpg as a background screen during loading/initializing screen (e.g. during exiting from the garage, restarting race, etc.)
In the other words to create a propper garage screen. And of course 3D garage will be final destination.

There are some problems with interface scaling together with wide screen effect option turned on. See screen shot.

Also F9 and F10 menus are aligned with wide screen effect black bars, but F11 and F12 are not.

Great idea Juls.
But to prevent image distortion, the cylindrical projection should be applied on both (XY) axis, not just on one (X), just like in fisheye quake.
Effect should be of course screen aspect ratio dependent, to have less distortion on wide screen displays.
It should be a piece of cake for Scawen to implement this.
