I'm not the fastest driver around (did a high 1:46 on AS National), but I'm very consistant mostly. I also manage to create setups that works good for me, that are balanced and burn the tires as equal as possible.
On some occasions I've been asked to share a setup, and I gladly do so. And then I almost always get this back:
"Is this really the setup you used? I can't drive it".

This can only mean one of two things. Either my setups stink, or I am very strange driver

My XR GTR setup for Aston National attached for you all to laugh at

LFS GT-Challenge on SCORE!

For the first time in SCORE history, there is going to be a series for LFS. 10 events plus two practice runs to work out any bugs and to test the server capabilitys.
This time out the races will be about one hour in length (160km) but if it works out ok you can all expect long endurance events in the future.

For full set of info, rules and more, visit www.score.does.it and find the LiveForSpeed section and click the link that say GT Challenge
Welcome!

Quote from bobvanvliet :I think the flags should just appear next to the names in the qualifying and race results.

I agree. It's easy enough to put a flag on your paint. No need to put them on the license plate. But a flag by the name in results and qualifying is a very good idea

Hehe, we have done manual pacelaps in SCORE leagues and series for a long time with no pacecar. All it takes is some disciplined (spelling?) drivers and some comon sence

I got to agree
20 cars on track and 40 connections allowed (41 with admin). Don't know how it would effect online play, but still, it would be worth a try

I like multiclass racing. GT racing with at least two classes on tracks, maybe even more. We allready got the 500bhp cars so if we could have three 300bhp cars as well, it would be nice. I'd start a "Super GT" series any day and do some real 3 hour racing

Please excuse a fairly new member of the LFS community for asking... But how (if possible) do you create a list of people not welcome on your server?

I think both LFS and rFactor deserves to be played. I will run LFS because of the great cars, the great tracks and the great multiplayer. I will also race rFactor because of the great cars, the great tracks and hopefully, the treat multiplayer. And even if rFactor doesn't have great tracks and great cars from the beginning, it is modable and so, in time, there will be great tracks and great cars.

Why chose one when you can have both?
Driver Change question...

If I set server to not allow mid race join, is it still possible for people to connect for a driver change?

I like to keep my firewall up (ZoneAlarm) up when hosting. Witch TCP and UDP ports should I keep open for it to work ok?

Quote from BWX232 :Yeah and 12 months, 365 days in a year, 7 days in a week, 24 hrs in a day.. What kind of nutty numbers are those??

Oh, forget 60 seconds in a minute, and 60 minutes in an hour! that is crazy, we should use "metric time".. something based on 10 would be easier.....

Not..

Metric time does exist and is pretty cool if you ask me. It's brought to you by Swatch. I've been using it over at SCORE the last year cause it's an easy way to overcome the difficulty of timezones. Metric time or "Internet Time" works and is the same all over the world, no matter what

Quote from Woz :metric bad, imperial good

How is that in any way good?

Metric values are so easy and so precise. Metric speed, metric length, metric weight, metric volume (fluids and stuff, not how loud you play your music), metric temp... Easy as pie. Imperial meassures are confusing at best and really don't have any purpose at all these days

Oh and in case anyone takes this post to serious, please notice the smileys. It's all been written with a friendly smile

Volvo anyone?

As I said, it's not going to be 100% fair. But let's say you do hit that newbie (or anyone for that matter). In real life, you should have noticed the yellow flag, started to look way up front and ease off the gas a little just in case.
As it is now, some people drive worse than the SCGT AI and crash in turn one and instantly start hitting SHIFT+R.
Black Flags

If there is anyone who remeber the game STCC-2 by Digital Illusions (DICE) they would recall the automatic black flag if they hit anyone to hard from behind. This was sometimes anoying but it worked. You had to learn to drive properly even with the AI cause a black flag meant a drive trough penalty.
It didn't give you a black flag for just a nudge or a scratch but anything harder than that was punished. Could that be implemented in LFS?

I understand that it would take some delicate programming and I understand that it wouldn't be 100% fair at all times, but at least it would help coming to terms with the "first turn warzone". I bet it also would help against fast drivers punting slower ones out of the way. They would suddenly have to do it like in real life. Wait for the slower (blue flagged?) driver to make room or simply pass them at a good spot.

At least, I would like to see this sort of thing as a server option.

Quote from Cue-Ball :If you let the cars drive out of the sand then there is no penalty for going in the sand in the first place. 99% of the time a car in the sand got there because they were going into the corner too hot, not because they got a bump from someone else. Making cars in the sand stay there would help prevent all the crazy turn one smashers off the track.

Yes, well... It doesn't matter if you got pushed, came in to hot or was trying to avoid hitting another car. Sand is sand and does not effect the cars equal. Among the GTR cars, the only one who really gest stuck in the sand is the XRR. The FZR is hard but not impossible to get out of there, and the FXR is 4WD, so no problem at all there.

I agree mostly. But for the sake of keeping the frustration to a minimum, some sort of option to "virtually get towed" to the pits would be ok. You go to the pits and lose 5 - 10 laps but may still be in the competition.
If I get stuck in the sand with the XRR, I almost never can come lose. And if I'm in an enduro, maybe with someone else waiting to take over the car, I think it could be a good to at least have a "tow truck" option rather than the usual "go to the pit and start from the beginning" option.

Quote from -SE1Z- :if they are mates and you guys have raced other games/sims before... surely they would take you on your word that S2 is good?

Well you know how it is. Sim racers tend to stick with their sim of choice for a VERY long time, even if it's old. It has to do with what one is used to and how willing (unwilling?) one is to even try something new :-/
Something to really show them what they're missing would be great

My point exactly. I got a bunch of community friends over at SCORE where we've raced Nascar Heat (mods) for a long time. Before that it was SCGT. Now I feel it's time to move on to LFS. I did manage to "turn" one of them, but only after I made a movie clip of some GTR cars blasting around Kyoto GP. If I could hand them a replay viewer and a bunch of replays, I might turn more of them

I get error messages with pit spotter:

Connecting to 127.0.0.1:29999... Connection timeout

And it repeats itself until I close the window. What is wrong?
