Quote from matseracer :- you will get hooked
- you will have mental problems, such as memory loss, loss of focus / concentration, depression, and schizophrenia.
- you will have a shorter, harder life
- anxiety, paranoia

Replace "will" with "may" and you're getting closer to the truth. Next, ask yourself if these possible effects are worse than what alcohol and tobacco do. (Hint: Doctors say they're not.) That would mean it's not logical that MJ and cannabis are illegal but booze and cigs are not.
Quote from The Very End :We allready have so much problems with alcohol and tobacoo, this would just make more problems.

OK, then legalize MJ and at the same time outlaw alcohol and tobacco. Then the total of our drug-related problems will improve, right?
Quote from [RCG]Boosted :it should stay illegal, and alcohol should be as well.

They tried that it the US in the 1920s, and it failed. It made Al Capone rich, and worst of all it gave rise to NASCAR.

Apparently, many people want some way to intoxicate themselves. The question is what substances would be least harmful.

Quote from Jertje :It's hard to talk about policy making in the space of <5000 words, especially when it regards something like the Dutch drug policy, but what it boils down to is that full-on legalisation of soft-drugs without carefully assessing other parts of the policy would only lead to more trouble than keeping it illegal. You would still have all the problems associated with soft-drug use, but none of the perceived benefits of legalising it; remember that if you legalise the purchase, selling, ownership and use of soft-drugs you will still need to deal with the trash products and resulting health bills, but you will have no way of legally controlling or tackling these issues.

I thought the main reason why legalisation efforts in the Netherlands have been stopped is that there is much pressure from countries with a stricter policies (USA, France).

One of the problems with the current situation is that demand is greater than supply (at least, legal supply). Demand is extra high because of "drug tourism" from neighbouring countries. That causes high prices, and a lure to set up large-scale production, which is illegal and requires extra policing. Legalisation could solve that. Prices would drop, and the openness would allow shopkeepers and consumers to check the quality of what they buy.

But I expect that legalisation won't happen unless the largest countries in the EU go along.
Quote from 5haz :To be honest overall its safe assume drugs are bad and that the healthy human body can run itself without added substances.

The same can be said about parachute jumping, for instance. It has its risks, and it doesn't benefit your health in any way. But for some people the thrills outweigh the risks. The real question is: Do you trust people enough to make the choice for themselves, or not?

IMHO it's better post a warning in the thread where the download is offered, and notify the author of the add-on.

Quote from pogliani :How hard, if possible, is to adapt Replay Analyser to generate the graphs in real time on another monitor?

With the current state of LFS that's hardly possible. I have been thinking about a way to connect to LFS using InSim and gather real-time telemetry, but the types of data that InSim offers is limited: no wheel forces, camber, etc. And the sampling frequency may be too low to be useful for analysis.

In any case, it would be a major rewrite of LRA. A better option might be an enhancement of SEVEN.

Quote from paulgabriel :can anyone help me. i've tryed this program but when i load the racing line it is not sync with the track displayed it seems something is wrong. can anyone help me or explayne what to do? thanks

If "it is not sync" means that the cursor in the driving line pane does not move when you move the mouse over the graphs, then this is intentional. The cursor only moves when you click the mouse in the graphs. You can change this behaviour by selecting the "Auto-scroll" option in the context menu (= right-click menu) in the driving line pane. When this option is on, the cursor will move when you move the mouse.

Quote from vazzabi :I get an error when trying to download lra_1.1.zip. The file is not downloaded to the end.

That is nothing I can help. Downloading is between the LFS Forum website and your computer. If the download fails, then I expect that downloading other files from the forum will also fail.

Quote from AMB :send the replays to the owner of the servers you go on via their website, this way he'll get banned pretty quick and you can carry on

And if he persists in his bad behaviour and gets banned from a couple of servers, then this gets the attention of the devs, and he may get an LFS-wide ban (IIRC).

Quote from ryanm :However, I have to wonder if there isn't an opportunity to open LFS up to selected developers, at least on the content front? I know it's tough to release control of any project, particularly one that has such an investment of man-hours, and is a worthy source of pride...

This version contains a few additions:
  • Driving line pane can show a bitmap image of the track (see screenshot).
  • CSV export options.
  • "Open file" window shows more attributes of laps.
The bitmap images are not included with LRA. They need to be downloaded from the LFS site (by clicking this link). After downloading, the image files must be copied to the subfolder "bitmaps" of the LRA installation.

When racing online you can gain time by drafting or cutting corners. In hotlap mode you can't, so that's fairer.

This is what I know (YMMV, tho):

Excessive use of "tranquilizers" (games, TV, food/booze/pills, etc.) usually means that you are unhappy about some part of your life. Better find out what exactly that is, face up to it and try to do something about it.

Don't worry about finding a GF. Eventually, everybody who is looking for a mate will find one. (The tricky part is deciding if you can be happy with her for a long time...)

Passivity is bad for you. That incudes waiting for a girl who may have other plans, and waiting for a job opportunity that may not materialize. It's wise to keep your options open.

Exercise is also good for your mental health. (Something to do with brain chemistry.) Sports or any other regular workout helps to fight feelings of depression.

Quote from Neilser :Anything special needed to recompile? Haven't tried yet, but I do have the cheapncheerful VS C++ EE already.

You also need the wxWidgets library (http://www.wxwidgets.org/), version 2.8 or higher. It's free, open source, and it's got pretty good documentation.

VS C++ should work. Some time ago I tried to build LRA with it, and it worked without any problems.

If it is not a full lap then LFS will not create a RAF file, so you can not use any of the existing analysers.

In theory it is possible to grab data from InSim packets, but that would not give a very exact analysis, and I know of no tool that does this.

Have you looked at LFS Replay Manager?
Version 1.0

I have made a new version of LRA, with an important new feature: The possibility to download RAF and SPR files from LFS World.

When you start the "Open file" dialog, you now see two tabs (see screenshot). One is the existing list of RAF files on your PC, the other lists the hotlaps on LFSW. To list the files, LRA must pass your LFSW ident-key, which you can create on this LFSW page. When you select one of the files in the list, LRA downloads the RAF file and load it.

The SPR replay of the hotlap can be downloaded by right-clicking on a loaded file in the "Legend" pane. Select "Download and View replay" from the context menu. After downloading, LRA will start up LFS to run the replay. (If the replay is already present in you local SPR folder, the context menu just says "View replay".)

Other changes:
  • Can read the list of cars and tracks from a configuration file. (So the release of the Scirocco doesn't require a new release of LRA.)
  • Properties pane shows sampling frequency of file. (RAF files from LFS World have 10Hz, RAF files you created in LFS have 100Hz.)

Quote from aIM BLR :1. Why the minimum step of a change in the angle of rotation of steering wheel is equal approximately to the angle of rotation of wheels (Avr Front)?

I think the steering info in the file is precisely that: the average angle that the front wheels have turned. It doesn't say anything about the angle that your racing wheel has turned. (That would not be very useful: wheels don't have the same maximum angle, and a mouse is different from a wheel.)
Quote : 2. The design accuracy of the fixation of the angle of rotation of the steering wheel G25 is equal to 0.1 degree. Why the minimum step of a change in the parameter of Steer on the telemetry of 0.03 degrees

That would be for Scawen to answer. LRA just displays what LFS wrote in the RAF file. The steering angle is stored as a single-precision floating point number, so that offers a higher resolution. This 0.03 degree could be a consequence of Scawen design choices for the physics model.

Quote from Crashgate3 :I don't see a problem, as long as it's nutritious and is the same taste and texture. I'd happily eat it.

Another problem with meat is that it's a wasteful way to produce nutrients. Growing plant proteins uses far less natural resources. But maybe this test-tube meat is more efficient than an animal that's standing around. Feed the world synthetic hamburgers. (Or perhaps McDonald's are already doing so? :schwitz

Not too impressed.

There are many people who are worse off than this guy. He was born in a country where good health care is available, and in a family that can afford it. He has always been surrounded by people who took good care of him. He's got a handsome face, and a properly working brain (both very important for getting people to like you). All of these things have probably been more important for his happiness than his beliefs.

Also, the video, the music, his speech, were obviously meant to be touching. it's a tearjerker. And I'm a bit allergic to that.
