Yeah I understand that. Who am I to tell anyone what they should and shouldn't do with Minecraft. I was just saying this kind of thing is only practical under an ideal set of conditions involving hacky mods, not really a multiplayer-friendly build.

Quote from legoflamb :One cell in SMP could be reasonable as a community project, where everybody contributes raw materials and time to put it together.

You still need a sticky piston for every floor block that can spawn a mob, it's pretty ridiculous in terms of resources required. If you had to gather the resources to build it there would surely be more efficient mob grinders you could be building instead.

I guess it's an interesting thing to do in single player if you've got a few days spare. I don't suppose it would be useful in multiplayer unless you're hosting the hackiest server on earth.

So what makes it more efficient than other mob traps?

I would also like this ability. Sometimes I think I'm using irony but I start to worry it's more like schizophrenia.

Quite apart from the fact that enthusiasts are building speaker enclosures without considering the specifications of the speaker (and the marketing blurb that accompanied the speaker will be mostly nonsense), the biggest problem with in-car audio - the single factor most likely to make your stereo sound like shit - is the car.

I suppose it won't matter if you don't really like music or care about being able to hear it, and you just want to appear to be a knobhead to passing pedestrians.

Quote from xaotik :So, why is everyone still debating all this?

That's what they do inbetween grands prix - argue about Hamilton.

Apparently there are other drivers in F1 just nobody knows who they are.

The enclosure is just as important as the speaker, and should be designed to make the most of the speaker's characteristics. I guess you know a lot about acoustics Jack if you're designing your own speaker enclosures?

Quote from DarkTimes :For instance I just bought Mass Effect 2 for £7.99 on Amazon.

I bought that on a whim for a tenner the other week, it's the most tedious game I've played in years and reminded me why I never buy games any more. I don't even think it qualifies as a game, it's mostly over-long corny action movie -style dialogue. Hours and hours of it. Punctuated by rather routine combat sequences that feel almost turn-based they are so poorly paced. Proper rubbish.

Sorry.

Quote from DarkTimes :For watching DVDs, installing old games, also retail games are often cheaper than they are on Steam. We're not ready to wave good bye to the optical drive yet, sadly. I still use my DVD drive about once or twice a week.

Also they're stupid cheap, no reason not to buy one.

Not to mention burning disks is still a handy thing to be able to do.

As for games, I would much rather buy a modern game on disk than download it. Who wants to wait for 10+Gb of game to download when you can just go buy a box containing it and take it home in a fraction of the time?

Quote from speedykev :ya that's right Jenson button is no hot laper. But there again he doesn't need to be, when he overtakes its all calculated he learns how the driver in front will react and he knows when to overtake, unlike Hamilton who has no idea how the driver in front is going to react. that's why 9 times out of 10 he causes an accident.

No the reason Hamilton has more accidents than Button is because Jenson will wait for a safe opportunity to pass, whereas Hamilton will take the first opportunity he sees. Which means Hamilton is usually up the front or crashed out, while Button can often spend long periods in the mid field trying to find a way past a slow car where Hamilton would've just barged through ten laps sooner.

39 overtakes more than any other driver in Formula One. Now if Lewis would just calm down and realise he's not playing a computer game we would have one hell of a British Formula One team. At the moment Hamilton you're letting the side down.

Button does a lot of passing because he's not very good at qualifying.

That's ridiculous. It should be a one-race ban and a massive fine at least. It's the same penalty someone gets for obstructing someone in quali (or not, if it's a Ferrari at Monza). Totally ridiculous.

Hope they send Maldonado for an early bath.

Dr Who can be excellent TV. All too often it isn't, but it can be excellent.

I think recently they've been trying too hard to appeal to the American market with epic-scale story arcs, the show is at its best when the stories are less grand. Like the 'Blink' episode, the Chris Eccleston WW2 episodes, The Girl In The Fireplace, etc. Basically all the ones Moffat wrote during Russell T's time at the top.

The push for epic climaxes really ruined David Tennant's last couple of series IMO. Too much schmaltzy sentimentality and hang-wringing and universe-rescuing and not enough of the smaller but perfectly formed ideas.

I suppose it's like comparing Battlestar Galactica to J.G. Ballard's short stories. I know which I prefer.

I do think Matt Smith's been amazing though. His characterisation of an old-but-young character is totally convincing.

This was featured on the Minecraft site but wow how amazing, a step-time sequencer programmable using a piano roll interface, and he even prettied it up with a piston-driven player piano style front end. Proper amazing.

Quote from StompyChar :Again, thanks for the help... now its to find why I can see my friend's carskin but he can't see mine...mmmh.

If I remember correctly, demo users' skins aren't shared online - only licensed users can upload skins to LFSWorld. If you don't/can't upload your skin then nobody else can see it, unless you send it to them some other way (email?) and they place it in their skins folder.

No doubt someone will correct me if this info is outdated, but that's how it always used to be.

No real killer group, or at least no English teams in it (Real's group looks pretty tough). Man City got off lightly. Arsenal had better win their group or there will be more red faces at the Emirates...

Quote from Uke :I think it wouldn't be battlefield if they took out the jets.

BF1942 didn't have jets (for obvious reasons) and it worked much, much better than BF2. The maps with jets are just no fun for anybody who's not in a jet, which leads to griefing and teamkilling by half your team and makes the whole experience even more miserable. They should either take out jets or massively improve the AA missiles.

Quote from Uke :The horrible random bullet deviation is fixed since bfbc.

Well that's good to hear. I didn't buy the BC games for exactly that reason.

Battlefield went to shit with BF2. If they took jets out again I might want to play BF3, but they'd have to fix the ****ing rubbish shooty guns too.
