Ok, guys. Enough of the racing line. This discussion has gone way too far offtopic already.

Don't see the point of this topic. A guy who has an ancient pc complains about new-technology simulators that can't handle his pc, so it makes him to make this thread.

I felt nice intention within this video project, but that's it, basically. Don't want to get too much into criticism, but it should be told, as long it's constructive and necessary, because it might help the person in whom I see a perspective.

Well, know one thing: your close friends will always be on your side and support what you've done and the fact that you are doing something and even if the project touches them, but when you showing it to wider audience, which is neutral and forms objective opinion, the work and efforts can be judged from 180 spin angle, and pay attention to it.

As long you publish this video publicly, you are orientating to wide audience, so you face the fact the people are watching it. If you want an audience get involved into your video and feel how the team struggled to get where its now, you need to transfer that feeling to the audience in help of artistic and technical solutions. When project lacks of quality (mainly in terms of technical nuances, an editing stuff), it lowers the impression that you might want to escalate. You need to interest the audience and respect her. It's a major rule which I respect when I do my projects. I won't get into the details what is wrong with the project, you will figure it out by yourself, if you haven't done it yet.

The thing that I get really interested in this project, it's because it's more like deja vu feeling for me Your camerawork solutions and the way to edit the video and develop the story is basically really similar to mine projects, back 3 or 4 years ago. There was a moment when I really needed a person, who could guide me out on how should I edit the video, develop the story in my short movies, I met one and I've gone through it. I really hope and believe you will get better and better. Don't stop making projects if it really moves you and you like what you do. Good luck.

YEY, CANADA! Way to go. A good match, but Canada was really better this time.

No, Latvia wasn't better, but Latvia is good enough to compete at highest level and they proved this in this Olympics. Really impressed by Latvia's ice-hockey level. I've never thought that Latvia can be as good as Canada, to compete pretty much all the match. Yeah, I knew Latvia is good team, but as good as it was today. Bravo.

My favorite team is Canada, but on such occasion I supported latvians, of course. No explanations needed.

As history shows, russians have serious troubles in fights with finns Fiasco at Winter War, back in 1939-1940, now this. The same principle fight, Russia has an advantage of its players and can't do a shit to finns. Finns plays better, more wisely and actually plays as a team and wins. Now all russian ice-hockey gonna feel a wrath of Kaputin and his banhammer.

Well, yeah, your missionary mission is good thing, but I worried if many of video editors will be interested. Nowadays, everyone has good internet and YT own channel, those, who doesn't upload to YT, for a example, is because of technical aspects, such as video quality and performance. YT converts every video to its standards which generally doesn't match that video profile, chosen on editing software, so the quality of video drops down, and the performance, as well.

Once again, it's good idea and I congratulate you with that, i am just concerned about its practicality. Anyways, good luck, Fordie.

It's a mystery to me, how dutchmen can be so good at iceskating. What is the situation in the Netherlands? Are athletes sponsored really well? What is the situation out there?

Quote from DeKo :I'm always one for defending iRacing usually, but the MP4 at the moment is a piece of shit, and before it wasn't any better. It's meant to be racing the RUF but it's not even close,if you slightly look at a kerb the wrong way it spins, unless you run jacked up tyre pressures and other setup tricks that make it feel garbage. AC have the nose ahead for at least the MP4, definitely.

I have the same opinion. I do respect iR and I think along with AC it's definitely providing the best racing experience. Basically the rest iR cars are awesome, I've not tried all of them, but which I've tried are excellent and I don't complain physics of the iR, in general, they are working really fine, and can't understand those who really complains and drops iR just for that mysterious low speed-ice driving physics. I didn't have any bad experience with physics, but I had a bad moment with MP4-12C GT3 for sure.

Quote from Intrepid :I got so-so quick in the GT 12c on iRacing, and I found myself having to use weird tricks to go fast that definitely weren't realistic. Just felt like you were driving on ice half the time. The way you had to rotate the car before the apex. it reminded of the ridiculous lap records on LFS. Though LFS these quirks only appear right at the shape end of WR world. Just because something is hard to get used to doesn't mean it's more realistic.

Drive a modern car and try to ignore every piece of feedback you don't get in a sim and they do feel absolutely dead. So naturally in a sim some cars will feel dead.

With Assetto Corsa, everything seems to correlate well with my (admitadly limited) real world experience

+1. McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is waaaay more well done in Assetto Corsa than in iRental. I've tried the car on both platform. In iRental you need to rape the car, torture her to turn into the apex and still missing it (well, yeah, you can say - drive a proper setup, noob, not default, but I drove in AC as well without any changes in car setup, just a default). It's really awkward you know, when in one simulator the car is so understeery that looks pretty ridiculous, knowing the fact it's a modern rwd racing car, meanwhile in other - it's really well balanced and at some stages is very oversteery, but not understeery at all. Although, I find really interesting in AC McLaren's behavior, when you entering high speed corner or that fast chicane in Silverstone, the rear is prone to run away, but at the same time I like that it's really realistic physics between street car, like MP4-12C and racing car MP4-12C GT3. If you can easily catch the sliding back with street car, then with racing car is basically no chance, especially when back runs away at high speed corner.

Wtf is wrong with that AI race. 24 grid - up to 10 fps, freezing, laging... ok setting to lowest settings - no effect, ok then lowering number of opponents by 4 to 20 opponents - a bit laging, but after a starts runs at 40-50fps. I've noticed that video settings doesn't affect fps. CPU is shown like 95 percent overloaded in game, but task manager shows like 70+ perfect loaded. Bizzare. I really hope PaulieGTR from Assetto Corsa forums is right: MP will more use GPU than CPU, and those physics calculations of each opponent car gonna be calculated in different computers, so it means CPU won't get that much loaded and I could basically enjoy driving without any serious performance problems.

Quote from The Very End :You mean the snowboard thingy right?
I did not watch it myself, but watched replays with some dannish commentaries, and they whent batshit I am not into scoring and so, but he did a tripple flip and only got awarded a little over 90 for it (guess 99 or 96 is max, cannot remember).

Edit: Ahh I was thinking of wrong person, sorry! Guess it was more people that got underscored in that event? :s

Oh, yeah. Silly me. Of course, it's snowboard thing. I just got carried away. Yeah, I meant to say snowboard thing

Please, don't take that note with swiss and his russian surname so emotionally. I have no intention of blaming or whatsoever. It's was just a personal note. It's just a personal reference to that swiss. It makes ore easy to remember him when his surname is russian, that's it.

Hm... post production is pretty OK, but the plot is totally unclear and messed up. I mean I don't get it what message you want to send us with this video? At first, I was like "oh, ok, it's some kind of race review video", but then FZR appears, and don't get what is its role, also at the end that fly over the layout?! What was that?

I would like to congratulate with an effort in making LFS video cinematic. It's a very big plus from me. You have an intention to tell a story and technically you are doing it pretty good (I really liked that variety of camera angles, and especially the very last one when fzr drives off). I encourage you trying advanced use of camera to enforce the impression.

"Racing is not for everybody, and some people can't accept loosing. Friction between two longtime rivals manifests in this short montage. "

That's what I find in the description below the video. Well, ok... At first, it's not a really good and worth topic to be used for a video project. I mean, a negativity is not a right for you and for the audience to experience. Nobody bothers facing negative moments, such as intentional crashes and etc. If your concern is about people's behavior on the track and you want to moralize the audience, then I should say: a clever guy already knows it's rubbish thing, a dork one ignore it and won't learn from it.

Quote from The Very End :

Also, long story short:
In a skiing finale some days ago the norwegian Martin Johnsrud Sundby accidentically strayed over into Maxim Vylegsjanin path on the finish line. The russian team delivered a protest, claiming it to be non-fair and demanded Martin to get a DQ. At same time Martin admited that it was not fair play by any means, but that he was too tired to understand what really was going on at the end.

However, the russians was not satisfied. When the first protest got turned down, they protested again to the official skiing... what you call it, jury? Anyhow, it got turned down again, so now what? They tok it to higher courts! Jesus almighty, I don't know the transelation for this but basically it's now so high up in the system that it will be judged by people who normally judge criminals

Any thoughts about it? We can agree upon that it was not fair play, but when an athlet gives it all and really canot make up whats going on around him, is that cheating or is it like we call in it in motorsport, a "racing incident" ?

Edit: Trying to find a video of this.
Edit2: Cant find a god damn video of this <.< Also, Martin did get a written warning of the first jury, because of the situation, but it was concluded that it was not intentionally nad therfor DQ would be quite harsh.

+1. That's why I really sometimes hate russians. They basically cannot loose. It's, of course due to mentality which is formed, as a result of dark, soviet union period.
The other silly thing is - when they make a horrible conditions to their own athletes, so they are forced to go for a shelter to the other country and wins a medal or that country, russians are still proud as ****, by saying it's our product, we raised her/him' and etc, making an impression that informally this medal is won by Russia. LOL.

I guess it's good to be a norwegian these days when your athletes win medals every day. I really cheer for norwegians in biathlon, in particularly. Ole Einar Bjørndalen FTW! What an amazing athlete.

BTW, really pissed off by the fact that swiss with russian surname won gold medal in skateboard ramp thing. Ayumu HIRANO should have really won this. His performance was mindblowing. I thought he gets 95+ points, and got just 93,5 which left him in second place.

Sake. It's a bloody golden thing. Your LFS now looks something like GRID, which visually is totally unrealistic. That bloom and red midtoned screen isn't really attractive.

I always loved your montages. Simple, yet very informative, crystal clear and exciting to watch. A good example how you can make a super review simply without overusing effects and other factors that distracts you from the main point - racing coverage.

Sincere congratulations, Jens. Once again you proved that you are top class editor. Thank You for beautifully action-packed race review.

The biggest fail is - the open ceremony was not that spectacular as I thought it's gonna be, knowing the fact 51 billion dollars have been invested into all this stuff. The part of the show wasn't that spectacular and decorations looked a bit cheap. Every previous country hosted the olympic games for 7 billion dollars, and now such an overrun of 39 billion dollars. Corrupcy in Russia at its best!

Maik did a tremendous tribute to Tomek right after tragic news were published, but somehow, as an editor I felt a responsibility to do a tribute video by my own, as well. It's no doubt that it has been a big honor to meet our Tomek, to race along with him, to chat with him and to share common values - simracing and motorsport, in general.
I would like to steal some precious time from you and invite you to take a look at my project, which I dedicate to our Senna, our friend - Tomek.

This is Assetto Corsa based project. Driven around Tomek's most favourite track - Imola with powerful Ferrari 599XX. Enjoy.

I do understand your decision, Dennis. It's not really easy to move on when such a tragic mark follows the whole team. It's hard to forget and move on when you face the past each time, naturally, because Tomek was a big part of this team.

Don't bullshit me about that 'leave then' and etc. No, I won't. You making fools of yourself believing in nothing and acting such awesome, judicial dudes. Don't pretend you are gonna wait as long as you need. No need to draw yourself as a hero. You are not unique. We all are wait along with you, and no matter if we do like it, or not. And those, who are not afraid to express frustration about being unhappy as far they has been waiting already for 5 year for some kind of update - win. We are not a band of sheeps. The opinion should be stated about all this circus. When silence doesn't make any difference - we need to attract devs attention on what they are doing (more likely, they do nothing). Don't like someone who has the point and isn't afraid of spreading his thoughts? I have a message - go and **** yourself. 5 years... DEAR or DEAR... and yes. DEAR OH DEAR *cry* *cry* I know you feel the same, but you are a bunch of cowards to express your thoughts. It has been ridiculous 5 year period, devs have read many negative posts and they has already decided to delay the stuff a long time ago, or even cancel everything just because of that negativity.
Even if this S3 comes out - I won't play. Devs already stole 5 years. It's not worth to be waited for 5 years, and this forum even gives me more joy than an actual LFS game.

I've been patient for a very long time, for those 5 years and keeping my frustration in myself all the time, but it can't go on. It's just a matter of time when it hits you, and if this won't happen with you - you simply don't love this simulator and don't care about it. Also, I can't comprehend those who acting so critical over those who makes negative, but true statements. The majority of those are rookies in LFS. Of course, how could you understand us, who have already been waiting for years, since you just have started playing this simulator.

Sorry for my open opinion over this all circus. No need to post more useless critics over me and other guys. You would say the same about my critics on simulator, but the thing is - I am a customer who invested in this simulator to have a joy and I want to continue doing it, but the project is barely alive, I would have invested a long time ago in S3, but no - I won't do this, as far I am punk'd. As a customer I have a right to express my frustration, meanwhile I don't serve for you, so I don't give a **** about your damn critics. My and others messages are supposed to be as an alarm to devs to hurry up, or they gonna loose all their potential customers, who still believe in S3 and hold their money for it. If they won't hurry up, there would be a definitely a break point in those customers' way and they will spend those held money for other things. Ta-dah.

If we compare AC graphics to LFS, then LFS is like Sega Mega Drive 2 game. Ancient graphics. Well, it's really big shame that those three lazy dudes can't put themselves together and release something that was planned to be released 5 years ago. It's just ridiculous. 5 years! Omg, there is no point of waiting, even if we gonna await it, some part of community won't play because of principles. Also, 5 years is really big time gap. If devs think that we have tons of time to wait and after s3 release all racers gonna come back, then I am afraid it's untrue. LFS devs are the biggest lairs. It's really shocking that they act so unprofessionally and irresponsibly.

Quote from PMD9409 :There is a difference between inducing understeer and plain understeer. This driver clearly is lacking the driving ability to properly hit the apex and therefore continues to turn the wheel as if he is playing an arcade game. Instead of AC responding to the induced understeer in an arcade like way, AC instead reads the induced understeer and washes the car out wide. If this behavior is wrong, then why does LFS do the exact same thing if it is so much more accurate?

The 458, as mentioned above, has a mid-engine layout that is built for general understeer. If you drive it more aggressive on entry, creating a small amount of rear slip, then the balance raises drastically. You can't expect a Porsche Carrera Cup car to drive like a BMW Z4 GT3 as the cars are configured very differently and therefore warrant a different style of driving.

In short, the video you posted contradicts your statement, and simply proves that LFS and AC behave the same (realistically) in that scenario.

+1 Very well explained.

What is wrong with iR physics? If you find it difficult to master, it doesn't mean iR physics are bad. I am not of iR marketing politics, I don't see myself investing all my money constantly to a game, so I don't play it, but as far I've tried it, I really got amazed how physics are well done there. Maybe an only drawback is - countersteering. Just a small countersteering is acceptable if a bigger slide, you just can't control the car. The same applies to rF. Apart from that, really great physics.

E) you prefer arcade titles like iRacing, Gran Turismo or Project Cars.

Argh, mate, you just went too far. iR is not an arcade at all. Give me a good reason to think opposite. For me it has the best physics along with AC.
