if u have a seperate hdd, put it on the hdd that doesnt have ur windows on it, once its unlocked u can use on both O/s thats what i did
so recap

C drive has vista and XP
K drive has LFS other varous entertainment (porn) just unlock lfs and u can just make a shortcut under both os's
it runs well in vista if u have a decent machine, disable command queing on your hard drives and performance is on par with XP

Quote from theirishnoob :should be no charge you pa for a liesence , no matter if the game changes you get the benefits from the old game carried on.

most programs offer free updates to the same version like say for example
adobe CS
version1. It gets free updates to 1.2, 1.3 , 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 , 1.8, 1.9

then version 2 which is considered a new version you wil have to pay for, and the cycle continues,

I think paying 36 pound for a game a few years ago, then expecting it after 2-4 years and 2 new versions, asking that to be free in all fairness is pretty much out of line, I mean how ungratefull are you

since the diff pre load has came out the car is more reliable and stable and actually handles well with the clucth pack lsd ,
couple of things that need to be addressed is

on rapid braking downshifting the car locks up to easy still compression lockup, this just doesnt happen in real life so i dont see why its setup to do it here

the traction control needs to be reconfigured for low and high speed as the TC setup is good for low speed, but too overkill for high speed, this is also how its done in real life as well

the TC also needs to be able to be setup in live settings

live setings need to be adjustable even in single player/hotlapping

and also the extra spring that the real f1's have that would be great as well

why havent you switched to w17 patch at least?, the diff pre load makes the car that much more fun and easier to drive its a lot more stable and doesnt lock up under hard braking/downshifting

Quote from joen :No, you CAN pay for hires IF you want to.

Who said anything about paying for a car? And this is hardly a graphics update, just an extended feature people have asked for which you can take or leave.

You've said this so many times already but you never do. Sadly.

Ontopic: No, I'm not using the hi-res skins service. Maybe I will in the future though, it's just not very important to m right now.

well they released the things I wanted fixed, the sounds, and now diff preload, which makes the LSD clutch packs actually work, as I said in other threads ill stay if we see improvments, and I am so no need to leave,

if you read my post IF a big IF thats the way it is making ppl pay for better content on top of the price then ill leave lfs behind "IF"

my spelling sux i kno, but im trying to find some good F1 racers around, ive started getting good sets , and can keep it on the black stuff well now, so I wanna find some guys who like this car, any organized events?
seinfeld

so we have to pay for hi res?
if thats the case i simply wont buy it, ive already payed for a game that has less then mediocre graphics anyhow, if this is how its going to be in future meaning we have to pay for a car or a graphics upgrade, I think id rather leave lfs behind
any organized F1 races?

If you have ever driven a midship layout vehicle in real life, you would know they handle like that, very unsteady unless u know what you are doing
a few tips
have your entry speed sorted before coming into a corner, otherwise if u leave some breaking into the corner its all over, once u have the front settled from breaking, apply a little accelration not much othersise the car transfers its weight to the rear and the car will understeer, hold ur speed throughou t the corner then once clear of the corner nail it again, also run serious rear camber like -4 degrees
if ur still using the compatable patches, run a viscous lsd forget about the ckucth packs as they suck,
if u have the new non compatable patch that has preload settings ect on diffs then run a clutch pack and run 290ish pre load and experiment with the power/coast yourself

it does have poor tyre capacity tho I will agree with you, the limit is still high tho, thats why learn to drive as is, and you will find later they will put bigger wheels,
if im not mistaken the RAC in real life they run 18's on the rear and 17's on the front = bad

scawen I cant get over the diff improvments, they are fantastic, and handle exactly like real life the clutch packs final dont lock up under hard breaking , thats ****ing unreal mate, the drifters will be creaming their pants soon, now all they need is longer lasting tyres and they will never bother you again . I on the otehr hand will continue to bother you till this masterpeice comes together
seinfeld

WOW the diff is exactly how it should be now, it handles fantastic, good work guys

I think adding weight, changine tyre size is the worst u can do, that changes the way the car handles, personally I think just power increase would be better, as the cars "personality" will be better kept then making it handle worse

im all for, engine tweaking, meaning fuel, ignition timing, or modes if u will while racing, to save fuel, gain aditional power ect, I am totally against, ricing it up, meaning no turbine upgrades, new cams, pistons ect, the game is good cause the base is the same for everyone, start throning on turbos, and super dooper blow off valves is taking the level playing feildaway

all in favour of getting the devs to put his name as the cheif sound editor for this game raise your thumbs

dave seriously deserves a lot of respect, for creating something that is keeping the fans interested over this spell of incompatable patching/testing on the devs department, he just kept me playing this game for another few months
thanks dave, now if we can get DX9 graphics and some better tunabilty, id be blowing my load hint hint someone

Quote from srdsprinter :Bummer. I hadn't really experienced that much of a slowdown before.

I was just throwing it out there, as I wasn't sure if there was more elements taken into consideration for the new sounds than stock ones.

I think my X850XT must be straining then. Obviously some slow-down due to CPU limitations, 2.6GHz x2 AMD, but probabaly a good bit due to 1680x1050 with full AA and AF.

I'm aiming to get a 8800gts/R600 equivilant in a couple of months. I doubt it will pull any miracles, but full 16x AA and 16x AF should look impressive, and any extra fps are always appreciated. Maybe it'l stay above 40fps with that and a x-fi soundblaster...

Thanks for the thoughts.

there is something wrong with your computer buddy
I have a dual core 2.4 ghz amd 2 gig ram, 7800GTX and at 1680 x 1050 i was pulling 99fps with max aa and af

I got a 8800GTS now have 3gb ram same cpu same resoloution 16x aa 16x AF and still get 100, in fact i limited the fps to 100

if your only getting 40 odd fps, check your power supply, ram timings, voltage ect as thats very down on performance

pm me your brands of everything , including ram, model no. ect of everything Ill help you configure things better im a IT tech
no one deserves to play lfs at 40fps that would be torture

Quote from Cue-Ball :I have to disagree with you, Keiichi. The road cars in this game are just that - road cars. They are not cup cars and not race cars. They have no rollcage and full interiors. As such, they should have only a very limited adjustment. Say, perhaps, three ride heights, five levels of damping, three ARB settings, and three final gear ratios (transmission ratios locked).

Not only would this be more realistic, but it would also help even the playing field and make it easier for newbies to learn the basics of car setup. And even full blown race cars don't have the near infinite adjustment of things like LFS has. Not even Sauber can change their final gearing by .01% or alter every single transmission gear for every single race. There are a limited number of input and output teeth which are used to determine ratio. This is how it is in the real world, and this is how LFS needs to be as well. Car setup is all about compromise and right now LFS misses a lot of that, due to the huge rate of adjustment it allows.

cue I think this game is for racing drivers, say for instance u owned a XR turbo and was a track car, of course ud have fully adjustable suspension on it, wouldnt you, this game is a perfect world simulation where u have already spent the $$$ and now ur ready to race
seinfeld

man the XR turbo needs 20" wheels standard it handles so friggin great

packars are bumpstops, adding more decreases the stroke of the shock, but maintains ride height

as far as suspension changine ride height that is real like, when u go softer naturally the car is gana be lower

id like to see more metric units of measurment like in spring strenth KG cm2 is used, Kn is never used EVER !

better explaination of the units of measure to as the test speed 40ns? i mean wtf is that, use KM per hour

dampener adjustability, springs adjustability for all 4 corners is a step in the right direction as well,

radiator ect is a bit over the top, I mean most race teams, need the car cooled as much as possible so adding a function that lets u put in a thinner radiator is kinda worthless IMHO

a live dyno to see gear gap spaces ect, without having to leave garage would be good as well, fuel map changes, good for stratagy, timing boost,, when reliabilty becomes a big factor will be good as well

data logging and aquistion is a big thing that is needed as well
