Its a good point...worthyness of anything is measured by the scale of use.

As such, if you plan to use mods and tracks in LFS a lot, then its surely worth it.

I think it not a full track and is more for experimenting. The custom tracks look a bit too abstract for my taste, it can be nice when you have grown tired of all other options.
There are nicer areals for custom tracks even if the buildable area is smaller.

Rockingham is another good track that uses the "newer" graphics.
If one likes the layout is a matter of taste.

atm there are 697 mods. Good way to prove me right with your 27 claim. Its less than 5%!

The OP question is quite interesting one.

On the face of it, two new environments and various car mods make it a bargain. Even looking at last year, Argentina Turismo employed mods in a brilliant fashion with LMP2 on showcase, but next to that having amazing aston martin safety car, giant Michelin clock and awesome rescue cars... that's only possible in LFS S3.


But...if you want to race...with lfs s2 you will be able to race in most of RTFR races, 90% of FM fox and Fm gti races, and 90% of mrc fbm races. Along with others, but only these 4 will give you something to race FOUR times a week. Getting S3 there wont change much. Hell, most of servers are still on LFS 0.7A, so you can even use lazy addon.

If you wanna check and drive new cars, beware that 95% of mods are crap. Some are good, but none are better than original lfs cars.

And if you want to drive new tracks from s3... Rockingham is buggy mas and worst track in LFS. Layout square is just big flat piece of asphalt and concrete... layouts can be made on it, but layout editor is so basic that they are not good, definitely not better than lfs s2 tracks.

So yeah, it depends on your wishes and abilities. If all you want is big field racing few times per week and are content with training on other days s2 is ok. On the face of it, lfs s3 gives a lot, but when you dig deeper, there's not much good in it.

Interestingly - new install fixed it.

Then tried old install and turned freesync off, put normal 165 Hz and it was ok. Will test more tommorow on old install.

Tried closing everything and running only LFS...game at times looks like a slideshow and FPS still doesnt drop either in lfs or judging by geforce experience app.

I'm afraid we dont have same issue. For me it happens even when alone on server. I dont get FPS falling down though.

My cpu is 12400F with overclock on single core to 5.2 GHz. LFS cannot be that demanding. In hotlap mod with right settings, CPU can pump out 5000 fps with GPU being limiting factor (RTX 3070).

My GPU driver is up to date. I will try to turn everything else off and see then.

I get no problems in any other game, tested AC, ACC, Doom 2016, Doom eternal, RDR2, Horizon zero dawn, Cyberpunk 2077, far cry 6, iRacing.

Let me reiterata that fps (shown by lfs, and shown by GeForce driver) does not drop when this happens.

EDIT: You could try updating your graphics driver.

For some reason i can only lock fps in LFS in steps, and 165 isnt one of them. I dod try 100 and 200 but same effect.

I did check at monitor display and it was running 165 hz.

It is same with freesync.

I cant lock it to 165 fps.

What I did is lock fps to 100, and then set monitor to 100hz.

And i still got the problem. With old PC, this was not happening.

I have problem in LFS where even though my fps is high enough (350-400) the view i get on my screen is sometimes not smooth. I realized it happens mostly on long straights.

I have 165 hz screen, and i have tried multiple options like locked fps, locking fps to 100 and setting screen to 100hz, changing graphics settings in lfs, changing multiplayer speed up, buffered frames and sleep every frame, but the problem remained. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it feels like fps is 20 or lower...feels like game is skipping frames.

Did anyone else notice this?

One of better mods, enjoyed driving it.

I'm not sure about the future of EV's, at the moment i dont see how it would be viable to go EV only for any of the countries in lets say next 25 years... maybe I just lack the vision.

And I've been owning an EV car for last cca 3.5 years, so i kinda have an idea of how it is when you're low on range and the fast charging station nearest to you is occupied or not working. I think at the moment, there's no financially viable way to have an EV and live in a building. If you live in a house maybe..if electricity costs stay relatively low.

1. Positions list for race and qualy would be great add on.
2. Wouldnt it be better if tyre life would take flatspots into account? I've had situations where it showed 13% left and boom flat tyre

as far as i understand, all these new changes are done in development version of LFS which has "new phyiscs" built in and there's no way to release it without tire physics revamp.

So presumably there is still quite big chunk of work before it gets anyway close to release of patch. Depends on how far down the physics rabbit hole Scawen will go i guess.

After playing with it a bit, i think i got just one suggestion.

Position list in races would be welcome adition, with live time gaps and pitstop info.
