That's interesting, though I'm wondering how the mod could affect the total lifespan of the wheel (there will be increased mechanical stress to take in account) Of course I don't expect you to have data on that already, but did you try to take that into account when designing the mod?

Also do you have MTBF figures for the engines under Logitech vs standard/higher voltage operation?

I've tried a bit too, the graphics are definitely behind the times, LFS looks gorgeous in comparison, and even the interface looks old school, though I suppose this is intentional and BTW it's quite comfortable to use.

The FFB in itself doesn't feel bad but Imola as a track is definitely too flat (there's only one spot which feels like there's some irregularity on the surface), and I'm wondering whether it relies on canned effects (e.g. the steering wheels becomes increasingly harder with speed)

The game is advertised as using FEM and other advanced techniques but TBH I wonder how a decent and proper FEM tyre model could be made to work in real time also such statements create expectations for a degree of realism that simply isn't in the game as it is now.

After trying VGP3 out I fired LFS again and took the BF1 around for some laps (I never drive that car usually), and I realized how tame was the experience in VGP3 in comparison.

Quote from gezmoor :Eventually it will lead to a stagnation in new licenses and then the number of license players will stop growing.

As long as we're analyzing aggregate figures from LFS we are making an apple to oranges comparison, since in iRacing there's -well- only racing (no pun intended)

OTOH LFS has three souls, and as far as public servers go, ignoring for a moment the new TBO wave, most activity seems to be revolving around cruising and drifting.

So even if aggregate figures are growing, pickup racing could be declining as well, and this is another plausible reason for people leaving LFS for something else.

;P I was among the first joining on your server anyway I'm just hoping it will be road cars and not GTR or single seaters. OTOH if you switch to LRF chances are it will be a carnage maybe UF-BR? for some reason I don't think so.

I see where you're coming from, though I still think the shorter the races the less reasons there are to be clean.

You're still planning to change class every week or so?

Are you planning to increase the lap count a bit? E.g. AS7R 3 laps is a bit short, 5 would be more like it, the first lap is a mess anyway and mostly about getting through the midfield junkyard unscathed more than anything else.

Quote from obsolum :which leads me to believe it had more to do with hardware settings or something rather than the game itself.

I seem to remember other people said the switch from the scazzato engine to the newer one had consequences on sound quality

FWIW my gaming PC has a Creative X-FI ExtremeMusic card, shouldn't be totally crappy. But I think the 1.02 bundle is still lying around somewhere, so it should be easy to make a fair comparison.

Quote from GTR_Yuni :I wonder if anyone else does this.

I do something like that, basically since I have to focus on the race instead of my own driving, I tend to race in a more instinctive way which is sometimes faster. For that to work the AIs must be slightly slower than me though. Online I tend to be more conservative, so Single Player has its usefulness IMO.

Just a guy swerving around to avoid being passed, not in the mood to report right now, I'm waiting for a spot to open up in the grid so I went and took a look at the reporting section and watched some SRT

So, what is regarded as a minor intentional accident that should not be reported?

But then we would conclude Scawen DOESN'T WANT to fix the barriers!

A new conspiracy theory is about to be born?

Quote from DevilDare :Prove to me that thousands of years ago, our ancesters were hunting CATS

LOL, thousands. In wartime (think WWII) people have been known to eat cats and worse.

Quote from DevilDare :Cows and other stuff we need to kill to survive, is a whole different story.

I guess you've never heard of India?

I'm not excusing the sick boy, but I really find amusing how people get all twitchy about ONE cat and then forget the whole topic of animal abuse entirely when it's off the news.

By talking of the sick guy you're making his attention whoring successful.

Quote from Bean0 :Anyone who has ever hunted will tell you that the idea is to get a clean, quick kill

Do you know how you hunt with live baits?

First you catch a lot of little cute birds with a net. Then you cut their bellies open to find out their sex. The females are then left to die a slow death, while males are used as baits while dieing a slow death.

If you decide to believe the hunter lobby or are a hunter yourself, well, you can think whatever makes you feel better

BTW I eventually got round to give 1.03 a spin.

From now on everybody who complains about the shortcomings in LFS' sound system should be directed to try nKp. It kills immersion so effectively that I couldn't shake off myself the impression of having got back in the early 90s. Stunts on a PC speaker sounded better than this

Quote from deggis :e.g. they're asking real life racing resume.

Well they ask if you have racing experience, it might be worth a try anyway... maybe embellish it up a bit

has anybody tried?

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :Sure we have the current TBO's being raced on the RSR server, but how long will it last? With the demise of CTRA (which had good points and bad points), there is no organised on line pickup and go racing.

Good points, the new servers are missing the organization bit: they're clean as long as an admin is on AND watching, and as long it's not the admin who hit you.

Nice but CTRA was a different story. After it went out my interest in iRacing has grown; it doesn't hurt they've finally decided to hand out free trials, and I guess in time they might tone down the pricing and turn iR more into an alternative to LFS than it is now.
