Fair enough, just looked really excessive compared to my desk-mounted setup and the Supra. As you say, though, the G25's diameter is not comparable with a real wheel, that throws it all off a bit

Quote from G!NhO :Uhmm in my car it's further apart.

Well of course everyone is free to design their cockpit as they wish. I would base it on a performance-oriented road car, offering the best compromise for sim racing when both road cars and single-seaters are to be driven in it. I'll check on the Astra tomorrow, but it's not that different except for the handbrake being behind the gear lever.

Anyway, what'd actually bother me more than the distance is the (apparently) huge longitudinal offset.

I like Ales's better actually. Tomba's is aestethically superior without doubt, but there's too much distance between the wheel and shifter/handbrake assembly.

See the attached photo for reference, gear lever in neutral about 22cm from the edge of the wheel, handbrake 10 - 17cm depending on position.

And yes, I know my car is dirty.

Quote from Jakg :A diesel is something you buy with your head not your heart.

Exactly.

On the subject of noise; Diesel is loud, always. I have yet to hear a diesel idling quieter than a comparable petrol car. As for driving, even if the diesel might be quieter at a certain speed due to different gearing and therefor lower RPM, it'll still sound rubbish and unpleasant. All the diesels I've driven or been a passenger in are louder than my car under normal operating conditions, but then my car, despite being a petrol, does 130kph (Austrian Autobahn speed limit) at about 2.9k RPM in 6th, lower than your average diesel, especially with a 5spd box.

Quote from logitekg25 :its exactly that. there are people who dont know how to pirate a game, or just dont want to, who buy it legally, and feed the money to the game developers.

Think you meant to say publishers

Quote from chrizza132 :its built like LTC so i dont think so :P

Why would people join yours if it's the same as LTC? Does strike me as monumentally stupid seeing as LTC appears to be well-established and fairly certain to remain in existence for the foreseeable future, something that can't be said about your server.

Well never mind, I wouldn't know anything about the cruising scene so far be it from me to make assumptions and predictions

AngVel is angular velocity, i.e. the rate of change of the heading. It bears little meaning in evaluating drifting performance because there is a high chance of peak AngVel occurring in-between two MCI packets due to the relatively low MCI frequency of 20Hz (at min. interval of 50ms).

Anyway, as documented in InSim.txt:
deg_sec = AngVel / 45.511;

(16384 = 360 deg/s, meaning 45.511 = 1 deg/s)

Edit: IIRC negative values are counter-clockwise.

Question is what should the values be? filename of the language file? ISO 639(-3)?

Quote from -NightFly- :It reminds me (the turn based part) of a game that everyone used to play when i was young, had a hero and a castle and you had certain amount of steps per gameday etc...can't remember a name though.

Heroes of Might and Magic perhaps?

He quoted a post that contained links to pics and replaced them with img tags. He fixed it, because this is the inevitable picture thread, not the inevitable picture links thread.

Quote from Bob Smith :Around the city with all the street, I never need my lights on to see where I'm going. They barely help at all. I'm sure the police would have something to say if I always took your approach though.

Because then it's about being seen and recognized as car, or similar object of roughly the width that your headlights are apart. They also make it easier to spot an approaching vehicle in low visibility situations by not just illuminating the area in front of the approaching vehicle, but also reflecting in other surfaces such as windows, store fronts, other cars and such.

I'm with you on the unnecessary-gadget-aversion though, really glad my car doesn't have any automatic jibber jabber other than climate control, and even that still has a proper knob to select the desired temperature and not some silly buttons
Oh well, does have cruise control as well which I'm quite fond of.

Quote from Arkadiusz Chmielewski :I do get the 3 restriction for carsguest so how more ppl can join the server when i put on 3 npc cars and want to join in as 4th racer it comes up a command on the left side like "max guest cars 3" lol so i still dnt know wth is wrong and what to change so more ppl can join ??

The limit is 3 players (=cars) per connection, so everyone connected to the server can add 2 AIs and join themselves, or add 3 AIs and watch.
You've got to adjust the maxguests setting, this is the number of connections the server will allow.

Edit: And carsmax is the number of cars allowed on the track, there are track-dependent limits though.

You can't change the config file while the host is running, it reads it upon initialisation and writes it out on exit. Either change it directly on the host by typing the command in the chat or kill the host, change the file and restart it.

By the way, carshost and carsguest are limited to a maximum of 3 on online hosts and on a dedicated host, carshost ist utterly pointless

A host could use the command to distribute a setup for the configuration currently running on it, which would be particularly helpful for hillclimb, offroad and stunt events.
Of course this could also be implemented as InSim packet, but then you'd HAVE to use InSim and couldn't use it in scripts or as an actual command.

+1

But I'd allow it in spec as well via /ss {username} {setupname} and I'd like to have it working on a host as well.
