As far as I know, the non-demo cars are coded on a different way (encrypted), that makes tweaking them far more difficult. So probably it will never come

Where is the digital speedometer for road cars ??

Although not quite realistic, I got very used to it in order to compensate the lack of feeling the g-forces on curves...

Quote :If you want reality then just go racing in reality! If you want a sim then you are avoiding many of the problems of reality, and cutting it down to the actual racing

Some race on sims just because real racing is waaaay too expensive for some. For professional karting, I would have to spend at least 2x my monthly income just for karting in order to be competitive. So it's completely out of question for me.

While I do agree that some things don't need to go extreme in LFS, I think that warming up the tyres are part of the hotlapping, and it puts some restrictions for the setups (since the driver would have to take care about overheating the tyres). And somehow I think that it could be an option to start from the pits, since some purists will like this option (except on AS GT with UF1.... )

probably just test patch U31, that will be still a compatible patch. I wouldn't expect a physics update until March 2007.

Well, I believe that a warmup lap and the hot lap itself all make part of an strategy, and they do make part of the game.

While I agree that a warmup lap on AS GP with UF1 would be extremely boring, IRL we don't have perfectly pre-warmed tyres, nor start from where we want, and the way that you do a warmup lap have impact on setting up the car.

So, I still prefer the "the most realistic, the better" way that LFS started to be developed, rather than keep some "flaws" that can make the "game" more fun.

Once on a national championship I remember that on qualify I brought the car to the pits after my qualifying lap, parked the car inside the pits, and then I realized that I didn't need that. I was so focused on the racing atmosphere that I almost forgot that I was on a simulator. And honestly, it was fun.

Keiran

Maybe Scawen shut down the master server in order to get better fps on his PC while racing ??

I can't connect either, and in 30 minutes there will (?) be a race from the brazilian league. Hope that this won't ruin the start of the new season.

Quote :Call me a weenie, but I have a soft spot for the GTI/GT. The treatment as "inferior cars" makes me feel a like LFS and I don't have the same understanding of sporting cars.

The idea behind it is to let begginers to learn how to setup a car, so giving them less variables to change make their life easier.

Well, the main problem I think is that an above average driver can drive with FZR very close to the XRR WR times during a race. So, a driver on a XRR would need to use qualify setups in order to be competitive, and we all know that it's impossible to race with qualify setups.

So, not only XRR drivers will drive a slower car, but a much slower. You need to be on par with WR times in order to be competitive with an just above average driver on FZR.

While I agree that there should be differences between cars, I think that no car should be faster in all tracks as it happens today. It would be more interesting if XRR was faster on, let's say, tracks with long straights, giving it some more horsepower in order to be faster on long straights. Right now, it's not only just as fast as FZR as it lags behind a lot on corner exits, and it's not that faster on corners (if it's faster at all).

Quote from Bob Smith :Yeah, not only that you'll need a much looser set - mine all understeer to hell now. Also needed less downforce on the FOX, since more mechanic grip made up for it.

So, in this new patch the suspension need to be softer than the previous patch ?

Quote from Flycantbird :Drive faster and they'll magically go away.

Or if you prefer, you can just click on each time with your mouse, and it will give you the option to delete them ( one at a time).

The first solution for some track/car combos will simply not work since some cars are actually slower in this new patch (at least until setups are not optimum).

But I've driven over 300 car/track combinations. Deleting each one will be a huge work....

Quote from nismodallin :I talked online with someone who had driven the lx8 before a certain alpha version was released (dont ask how) anyways he said the power/weight ratio was just to insane. i wouldnt mind driving the lx8, but i think lx6 is good enough for me (edit: maybe traction issues?)

But now with the new tyre physics, maybe it's possible to control the car...
LFSW : how to delete all on-line pb's ?

Hi,

Since in this new patch some cars are slower, I would like to delete all my on-line pb's. Is that possible without deleting each car/track configuration manually ?
Mogar

Well, the argument for not release lx8 is that it was going to be without competition...

So, the FO8 is without competition, FOX is without competition, BF1 is without competition...... So will they remove those cars ???

And it was already developed, so it isn't a big work to put it in a next patch.

TC on FZ50 ???????

IMO, it's far from necessary.... unless the new tyre physics made the cars much harder to control

Quote from Blowtus :I think you haven't thought enough about it The cars aren't getting upgrades to make them faster, the physics are getting upgrades to make them more realistic. How much fun would it be for hotlappers if they're unable to come within 3 seconds of the wr for all lfs releases in future, because a few goons don't want their current hotlaps wiped?
The current hotlaps will be from a different game, and irrelevant...

There are some tracks where the high nose bug play an important role on the laptime, like WE int with FO8, not even talking about the oval track, so I agree that the current WR are meaningless on a new physics system.

Quote from 96 GTS :IIRC, that's Scawen's gaming system, he doesn't develop on that one. (That KB setup could get a tad annoying )

well, we can't actually say that it's not his developing system, since he uses it and somehow evaluate LFS on this system.

but probably he don't use that setup to code.

Quote from deggis :There's somewhere an attachment of Scawen's computer desk. It had red MOMO and three monitors. I think it was in the thread that was about the multimonitor support, go and search.

If I'm not wrong, he uses a Matrox Parhelia that Matrox has sent to him in order to LFS support 3 monitors. And he got addicted to it.

Well, If I had 3, 21" monitors on my desk and a red momo....... I would be even more addicted to race simulators.

But Parhelia is a slow performer, and get 3 big monitors, even CRTs, isn't exactly cheap, so I would be satisfied with a nice widescreen lcd monitor.

Well, last time that Victor gave any indication about date to release information, patch or anything he did a mistake.

Ah, and let's not forget the April fool's day
