Artifacts PC problem - need advice

Hi guys

I need some help with diagnosing a problem which has started occuring totally out of the blue with my computer. My pc was running fine today for hours without any problems but when i had a hour break for dinner i left it running, when i got back i tried waking it up from power saving mode as the monitor turned off, my music was still running. But after moving the mouse and monitor powering up no picture appeared. Tried ctrl atl del to try and an some application that may have caused the black screen but no joy. I then had a quick 1-2 second flash of the desktop and it was all mangled up with artifacts and blank windows the type you get when you click something and windows hangs.

I then tried to reset my system, as the bios screen where all the drives are detected popped up after the reset i noticed the writing was slighly screwed up with few pixes within it missing, as that screen disappeared i then had a full screen of purple artifacting all over, that screen is usually just black so i got a bit worried. When the Windows xp logo and loading bar appeared, there were more artifacts and vertical lines with again pixels missing within the lettering, the loading bar then froze for about 20s and it just hanged it then slowly got going but it wasn't normal, it was all too slow. Then the when the welcome screen was meant to appear i just had a black screen, i could still hear the music and my hdd was showing that things were loading as normal. So it reached the desktop after few more seconds of blackness but my screen stayed black, i then had constant flashes of my desktop for about 2 s and it kept flashing between black screen and desktop. All off the menus were screwed up and things were artifacted.

Then my monitor went black and kept turning on and off (you know that bit when it gets a signal and you hear a dingggg sound and when it turns off you hear the static??? well that kept happening continuously.

I tried going into safe mod but the safemode selection screen is also scred so much that things are unreadable on it so i had to guess what to press to get into safemode but no joy, in same mode it did the same thing as it normal mode??? flashes with black screen, freezing, artifacts and it was just dead. See pictures from safe mode what my screen looked like when i loaded things up. (had to take it with my camera)

It looks like it is either the graphics card or motherboard.

Just to mention, few weeks ago my psu exploded, the psu seemed to give too much voltage to my graphics card as i had severe overheating problems and the card was running at 145C at times due to the faulty psu which may have damaged the card which gave up today..

Anyone else experienc

World is full of close minded people, they live in their happy little world and are prepaired to reject anything that will challenge their close minded views. It is easier to tell your self "no it really happened like that" than to actually question it. If people questioned and actually thought about things more often world wouldn't be such a shit hole and governments wouldn't be able to force feed you with shit all the time.

I think it would be obvious to a monkey that the pentagon crash was not caused by a plane. As for the twin towers, it seriously raises few interesting points and makes it actually sound that it could have happened like that. I wouldn't put it past the US government to attempt such things to get its way in the world.

It will be interesting what will come out of all this in the years to come.

I guess this is a nice answer to "How do you eat yours?"

For me biting the top off usually works, i guess other people feel they need to build cool complicated things to eat theirs.

Very cool stuff

Yeah it is a master piece, took an age to built too.

The best bit was when we were turning that thing upside down and all the widgets rattling.... creates hell of a noise.

It is good that we didn't stick that can of Boddingtons on there Ben, it would have ruined the whole thing.

It only took 4 hours because someones chair fell on the already made arm which had to be reconstructed again!!!

A friend of mine just sent me the news link to the BBC web. Although i did not watch F1 on the BBC when it was last broadcast there I believe that is a great bit of news.

The absence of adverts on the BBC is great. Itv had ads every goddamn 15 minutes... which was so irritating.

It will be interesting to see whether they will keep Martin Brundle. I hope that they will get rid of the rest especially James Allen....

I say D. Hill and M. Brundle for commentary

woohoo no more ads as of next year

BT SUCK, all that can be said. Have recently signed up with them for our small business, all sort of problems. Engineer was meant to turn up on a given date, no one showed up after waiting at the premises 6h!! So i phoned telling them no one turned up, woman on the phone told me my line has been successfully installed when eerrrr no one physically came to install a new cable and wall socket!!!!!!!!! After I explained to her what was wrong twice she then asked "soo err what is the problem" i was like FFS i just told you. So she said she will look into it and that some one will ring back to conform and re arrange a date for the engineer to come and install the new line. No one rang for two days, so i ring again asking where was the promised phone call?

Again I get some smart arse on the phone who couldn't understand what i was telling her, that I H A V E N O W A L L S O C K E T very slowly, she said ok she will try and help, after listening to Bethoven for a few minutes she returned with a new date when the engineer will turn up! I thought that was the end of it but no! Engineer turns up, it his notes he has written that he has come to fix a current BT line (when i don't have one yet) and that the owners are unable to find the wall socket (in one room) and that it wasn't his job to install a new line.

After telling him our story he was kind enough to install it but said he couldn't finish it and that another engineer will need to finish ff the job. After coming home and again complaining they managed to get an engineer out asap and in the end managed to fit a new line after 2 weeks of hassle!!! and they ask you to pay £120 up front and you get this shit from them, they have some cheek. If i were you TiJay I would stay waaaay clear of Bastard Telecom.

Just awful, they treat you like if you're a moron, thinking you cannot pinpoint a fecking wall socket!! organize engineer visits where no one actually turns up and and they take your money up front!!!

bunch of useless retards!

There is no real president of the EU, it is a theoretical position. But that isn't the point, the point is that Blair was

" In violation of international law, Tony Blair committed his country to a war in Iraq that a large majority of European citizens opposed. This war has claimed hundreds of thousands of victims and displaced millions of refugees. It has been a major factor in today's profound destabilisation of the Middle East, and has weakened world security. In order to lead his country into war, Mr Blair made systematic use of fabricated evidence and the manipulation of information. His role in the Iraq war would weigh heavily on the image of the Union in the world, should he in fact be named its president."

and because it is only a figurehead position of the EU does that mean it is ok to elect Mr Bliar? I thought it was ridiculous for him to be the spokesman for the Middle east, I nearly fell off my chair when i read that! But this touches on an earlier point that I have mentioned, people have become detached from politics, no one cares anymore, many will just say ahh let him have it, its a useless position and wont protest against it. Not enough passion for politics anymore, too much farce and corruption and these people are meant to be our leaders? Bah!

Quote from Racer X NZ :My, what a surprise.
Tony Blair as president of Europe. After spending his time as British PM with his head up Georgies arse supporting the war in Iraq with a pack of proven lies his reward is now European leader.
I really wonder about the intelligence of most of the worlds population with this sort of thing.
Of course he'll get the job, just consider who's backing him.
From turning Britain into a compliant police state ( 4 million camera's in London alone ) to doing the same for Europe.
I really wish you Europeans ( and Americans ) would take the time to see what is happening to you.
Or is it only those of us on the outside of this who can see what's happening and how your all sleepwalking your way to a police state.
Please watch the first Matrix movie and make a choice - Red pill or Blue pill.
What is actually important in this life, a one world government run by people like this or freedom.
It really is your choice.

No racer we see it too, but the problem is most people are too stupid to do anything. Politics are looked at as being a joke full off overpaid corrupt b***rds. No one really gives a toss anymore. I mean in England, we have all sort of talk shows about politics and politicians where they are criticized for the work they are doing or should be doing rather. Even though sometime the truth is before your eyes you choose to ignore it. Believe me, we do see what is happened but there doesn't seem to be any will power anymore amongst people to stand up against it. One main rule in politics is to keep the population divided, that way we are all easy to control and it becomes easier for them to get away with all sort.

I personally think for Blair to even be considered for the role of Europe is a joke. He is the last person that should get the job.

Many people have given up on politics and I don't blame them. A bunch of useless over paid b****ds who can get away with anything they like (e.g. Invading other countries on false evidence)

Sometimes it makes you wonder what will we need to wake up and refuse to take anymore of this shit.

.... Telemarketers are bloody annoying. I often get phone calls offering me a conservatory extension. They usually don't shut up until they have pitched to you their best offer... at the end is when i say I live on the 5th floor in a block of flats..... that usually ends the call quick.

Recently I have been getting machines with recorded offers call me, so blooody annoying!!!

Quote from The Very End :Don`t buy G25, it`s overpriced and it ain`t really that good. Yes, I have tested it, the electro store where I live have a rig where you can test it, various games.

I would go for something like logitech driving force Pro. Or, just buy a cheap one, I mean, for like 3 cheap wheels you can get one G25, and they do last some, the last cheap wheel I bough (Saitek R440) lasted two years with many hours playing each day.

Actually, I will disagree with that statement. G25 is quite pricey yes but in terms of the quality that you get it is worth it. The wheel, forcefeedback, pedals are great. The gear shifter isn't that bad as others make out, it is still quite solid and does its job well. I have had my g25 for over a week now and I am loving it. The only thing the g25 could do with is more buttons on the wheel but that doesn't bother me. One of the plus points for me is the pedals, great solid metal a definitive step from those Momo racing pedals that had all sorts of issues with them.

/sorry just had to disagree there/

ohh.... and meeep meeeeeep meep!

Quote from garph :10kg A4 size package - Royal Mail and Parcel Force.

http://sg.royalmail.com/portal ... esults&catId=23500532

Actually I have come across extremely high prices when sending packages.

Royal Mail have a boundary system based on weight, i once wanted to send a parcel which was 1.9kg and the price was around £6 but as soon as you go over 2kg the price jumps to £16. We once sent a 13.5kg package at the cost of around £36. Recorded also seems to be cheaper than 1st class. It is a rip off though, i always wonder how companies can afford to send parcel with such cheap delivery prices when buying of the net. I guess they have a business arrangement between each other.

Post in the UK though sucks and is ridiculously expensive.

For me there has always been a fascination with Pluto, it is the furthest discovered dwarf planet which we know very little about. It is a binary system due to its moon Charon. It also has an eccentric orbit so it is the least boring as the others just orbit the same way.

So i vote for the next closest planet to Pluto, Neptune!
