Oddly enough with the general attitude toward ovals, they would see the most benefit from physics refinement, since the oval tends to produce the extreme extents of what you would see being produced in the game engine.

Most g-force, most speed, most use of the aero engine, most load on tires.

Now, just a question but does anyone have a problem with the V8 for this car being provided by XR Autosport, since thier logo already appears at the kyoto ring?

Edit: Currently the best racing to be had on the oval in LFS are street tired cars and the FO8. Fo8 produces side by side racing, if theres not a rule to prohibit tussling over positions. and the street tired cars require that you actually think about cornering

Got the stock car style wheels on it and added 2 Katt exhaust pipes with turndowns at the end, like mandated by the Sport Stock regulations. Gonna take someone more skilled than me to replace the interior and get rid of the front spoilers

Blackwood, By far the most iconic track of LFS. When you think LFS you can't not think of blackwood and the history it has.

My model was modified to the local Sport Stock class, so it would be 3000lb (1360.7771 kg) wet, on 8 inch wide slicks, and i specced it with the largest crate engine i could find, a Chevrolet 572 CID V8, Making 720 HP and 685 lb.-ft. of torque. Also the class mandates no spoilers or undertrays.

Of course it's gonna turn around on you if you just slam your foot in it. Set the suspension geometry correctly and it should be fine on roadcourses if you don't drive like an idiot.

Quote from BlueFlame :And why on EARTH, are people saying Go karts... could the MRT, be anything OTHER than a go kart? too many people can't see through the looks of things... its the enginerical things that matter!

It could be exactly what it IS. It's a Reproduction of a real Formula SAE car.

Just a Quick Take on what an XR modified to Sport Stock might look like.

There were some problems with the XRG and XRT models at Ds Autos, since i couldnt get the parts selected separately to modify them, hence the use of an XRR body. I think the effect is effective.

Due to the rules mandating the window ledges remain unaltered, i've left the rear window edges in place (these would have a bit more beef on a real car than the model). The hood is legal, posessing cowl induction of no less than 3 inches, and there is no rule forbidding the vent opennings.

The Diffuser hasn't been removed, and the front bumper isn't the stock style, but i believe some bumper modifications are allowed.
The quarter panels are obviously not stock, liek the class mandates, but given my limited ability to modify the original model, this is an allowance i have made.
couldn't remove the door handle's but let's just assume they have been welded shut.
Exhaust system isnt quite right. either, since it isn't allowed to pass thru body panels

I think this looks a bit more like a class above the Street Stock, but one can imagine the fun that could be had with a 800 BHP V8

Anyone else wanna take a crack at modelling an LFS car to specifications for a class?

Figured i would Post my Support on this topic, with a Nice +1.

Also figured i would post a link to the specifications of the classes at my local track. http://www.columbusspeedway.com/asp/2007/Default.asp

There's really no reason a Stock car cannot be raced on a road course, provided it is not built with an Assymetrical chassis.

Only a couple of different setup options would be needed, and not even neccisarily NEEDED, just helpful. Corner by Corner tire compoud settings and toe. MAYBE stagger (set this to 0 for road courses)

A few different types of Oval would make these cars and others shine. Contrary to the common belief not all ovals are huge like the Kyoto Ring. And many of the more wel known courses also offer a roadcourse configuration.

Educate yourself before you say youre opposed to something. And don't post negatively unless it would actually cause harm. Your choice not to use something doesn't make it a bad idea, just of no benefit to you personally.

As for ovals being for those who can't drive... you obviously don't know what youre talking about. Juan Pablo Montoya didn't get into Formula 1 without being a good driver (although he might have seemed that way compared to the people outshining him). He's finding Nextel Cup quite a challenge.

While i think it could use a couple adaptations to better support running the course forward and backward i think it wouldbe pretty cool to have an entirely community developed course

last i checked it was an option for a reason. No reason not to have that added granularity in the option.

Quote from Shotglass :
2) i dont really see much point of coding multiple contact patch handling into lfs

Wheel to wheel contact
wheel to body contact
wheel to wall contact
hooking the tire on a curb
proper handling of ruts when they become an issue in rally cross
more realistic rally cross behavior when transitioning from the track to the raised run off.

Did i miss anything?

Very much agree, and suggest an InLiveSet protocol.
better yet it would be nice to be able to just bind to a pair of keys or an axis

I have no problem with it, but it should be used sparingly.

i use a cusom view, in car in the driver's seat, just moved down a bit, because i'm a short guy and amd basicly adjusting to see what i would really see

There we have it from the programmer himself!

a second mode for the PhidgetTextLCD got programmed and tested (this is my part, i'm the guinea pig) today. pretty cool that the LCD itself can lso be used as a shift light, for when the guages are working. Easy to use on it's own but you end up missing a bunch of information.

wish i still had the video camera to make another video for you guys

Phidgets On Speed

Hi there!

Phidgets on speed is a project i'm currently collaborating with a programmer on. The aim is to make it possible for anyone to buy a few phidgets interfaces and put together a dash board, without any programming knowledge.

I don't have official permission from Three Sixty Media to release v1 yet, but i AM going to show a teaser video, and release more videos as the stages progress

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6a2qJ7VuUw

have fun.

next step is to get all the led channels on the interface working and a few more options for how to use the LCD, allowing more possibilities with what you have.

with server side handicaps you cant use the same car in multiple classes.

for instance my GT500/GT300 classes use the same cars with different restriction levels.

still a big fat -1
