I was actually thinking Daytona USA style menu selection, as a front end program that communicates with LFS via insim\outsim.

+1 I was thinking of throwing some cash down to build a sit down cockpit/cabinet to put at the local arcade, to try to build LFS's popularity.

the problem is building a front end for it to operate it with the wheel shifter and pedals

Quote from JTbo :Aye, one thing is to get your vision checked, you may need glasses and those really do help (been there....) then get massage for upper body at least, reqularily, one part of problem is tension at shoulders/neck. Also pole walking helps (walking with sticks, eh, that crazy finn thing?).

Then drink enough water, sometimes it can be part of problem too.

I've needed glasses for a while now, but when I actually have them they don't make a noticeable difference to my vision (they oddly still make the DMV happier though)

We've been in the middle of a heat wave here for a little over a week, so that might answer that as fa as hydration is concerned. This seems the most likely, as it's the first time i can recall ever having a headache so bad and so suddenly. Was like getting cracked in the side of the head with a golf club.

Stress at work combined with depression has kinda had my back and neck tight. Also a prime suspect for the problems as this month at work has absolutely sucked balls.

Blah, Offhand I could have sworn the german flag was black yellow red. My bad. On the visual dyslexia i was going to respond with "just depends which side you're laying on doesnt it?" but i guess that doesn't work now.

Anyway, yeah, how bout those automatic transmitions j/k

On an unrelated note: Anyone else here get migraine headaches? Just started getting them and wondered about advice for dealing with them.

Tristan, you're not missing a steel bar are you? If you are I can see the end of one peeking out of your ass.

A modern wheel with a pneumatic tire is actually a 2 part assembly. The tire, and what I guess one might call a "wheel" if they were into naming parts recursively. For lack of confusion as to whether speaking about the whole unit or a specific part, some go back to the days of wire wheels and refer to the part the tire is mounted on a "rim".

One more case for a multiple contact patch tire model. Oh wait, I already made this point int the "You should do rockcrawlers for S3" thread

I saw very little difference in the rims of the 4 examples of wheels you posted earlier .

Come on guys, what the hell is going on here? It's a RACING simulator. I know that an automatic gearbox would fit perfectly for """nascar""" races but when there is turns on a track you don't need stuff like these.

I know you Germans hate to be told you're wrong, but Nextel Cup stock cars (for some reason forum people seem to think NASCAR is s type of car not a sacntioning body)usually use 4 speed manual transmitions. The reason is simple, you just don't need a 5 or 6 speed on an oval. A 4 speed transmition has lower rotational inertia and energy loss than a 5 or 6 speed, as well as less overall mass (so they can have mass free to centralize where ever they want).

Quote from mrodgers :I would like a source of any racing that uses an automatic transmission. It's really quite simple, no one uses an automatic transmission in racing. It immediately puts you at a disadvantage of power loss through the mechanicals and the disadvantage of not being able to select the proper gear at the proper time. It is simply unrealistic to have the option of an automatic transmission in a pure racing simulation.

There is however a local front wheel drive compact stock car class at my local track that requires the use of the stock engine and (explicitly stated) Auto transmition. The class is geared toward budget racers and tends to give some very competitive racing. I'm trying to see if I can afford to race in this class now actually

You do realize that cruise control doesn't simply "hold the pedal" for you, right?

It maintains a speed, not simply a throttle position. If the car slows down it will apply more throttle to maintain that speed, if it speeds up it will apply less. The most obvious cases of both being changes of incline.

The same could have been said about skins, but that has nothing to do with kickball.

Anywho I've said my piece. Variety is a good thing, in moderation.

Nasty little bugger ain't ya

I can post what I like within the realms of the forum rules, if YOU don't like what I post, it's tough shit mate, get over yourself.

hmmm... Nah. The investment in effort isn't worth the desired and unlikely outcome. Beside that, it wouldn't be constructive

A cold beer and a hearty laugh at an unsuccessful troll, however? Yeah I could go for that.

Back on topic: Variety good, Rice bad.

A few tasteful wheel types, derived from real performance wheel designs, no adjustable sizes or anything of the sort.

Respond to Jackassery with Jackassery. If I wanted to have a go at you simply for the sake of having a go, I would simply take after your spelling and grammar. But then I would be at it all day, because once I get on a roll, I'd have to take after all the UK natives that can't write "proper" English.

Why you felt the need to repeat a a post you made earlier that nobody was arguing against is beyond me. For clarification of the obvious, the post you replied to (07:02) was directed to "thisnameistaken" who posted at 22:18 and Toki HUN who posted at 06:24.

Quote from danowat :Because it's not important?

OK, i don't normally do the spam thing, but this warranted it.

You wasted the time to post a total of four words? Over a point that wasn't being argued. Nobody said it was something we had to have right now. There are hundreds of more important things, BUT I decided to post something constructive to this thread. Agreement pending a narrowing of the terms of the suggestion. In short a "Yes, but..." agreement

Oh yeah, here's for the time you wasted on 4 words.

Feel important yet?

Wow, i think it's obvious some people don't actually read a thread before posting.

We can choose the color of our wheels, so why not a couple different types, to choose the one that best suits the skin (or the car you're trying to make a replica of).

Gunn and I are just asking for some variety, About as ricey as wanting to have the option to turn the window banner on a GTR off for a skin.

What i am supporting is:
Racing hart s16

American Racing

Volk Racing

NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING LIKE:

I agree with Greboth. A few different tasteful types of wheels to represent the brands already in LFS can't really hurt things.

Also due to different mass concentrations wheels are like the engine's fly wheel, they can affect the way the car revs up and down. A high moment of inertia will cause it to accelerate more lowly but bleed off energy more slowly, which could be advantageous on Kyoto GP's long uphill climb. Wheels with a low moment of inertia are the opposite, they can quickly change state, so they become the best option for tight courses where one much often change from braking to accelerating ad must squeeze the most acceleration and deceleration possible from a short space.

Well, yeah Asymetric suspension's been mentioned before, but nobody's really ever taken it seriously from what i have seen. It woul dbe great to have for any track, so you can squeeze the maximum out of the car but you might have issues with corner weights on some courses

Would deffinitely be good for the oval, which is sort of the ultimate testbed for the engine (producing the most extreme forces and the like). Looking at it this way, anythign good for the oval is a step forward for the physics engine, making the nuances of the other courses all the more accurate.

Before the realism nazi's come barging in, yes it is realistic to be able to set your setup this way, though it might be limited by what type of the suspension the vehicle is equipped with. Don't think you'd get the intended result trying it on a leafsprung car.

Quote from Dygear :http://www.frex.com/gp/meter/meter01e.htm

It works with LFS out of the box, but it is $408.11100 USD.

An it isn't terribly customiseable to whatever kind of dash you are trying to build.
