Adding a roll cage doesn't make the car not a road car. It's still not a race prepped car, i just has the safety features required to race.
In racing you either follow the rules, or you don't get on the track. If it comes down to mass and distribution differences, here's what a marshall will tell you: You'll either cage it and like it, or you'll take it home.
Live for speed is a video game. ipso facto. It falls in the simulation sub-genre, but it is in fact still a game.
In order for a game to be successful there is a basic criteria it must meet. It must be fun. When it becomes a chore to play, it will no longer be a game, and nobody will want to play.
The realistic physics make it fun. The close racing makes it fun. The availability of information to learn from makes it fun. In fact just learning the "rules" of the game is in itself fun and rewarding.
If you don't like Scavier's approach to developing thier game, you're welcome to go off and go make an rFactor mod, or start programming your own. When you've made it the way YOU (realism nazi's, yes all 6 of you) want it, try to market it. I'm sure that once you do so, very few will be willing to bother with your game as it would be a CHORE.
Well, it would certainly get it's ass handed to it by an F1 car of just about any year after the introduction of downforce.
however it would deffinitely be an interesting drive in LFS combining masive power with an unusual chassis. I dare say many would welcome the challenge
While I agree that a huge section of highway would be boring as hell, one must not overlook the possibility of the highway section only carying on till the next major exit, or using a set of high speed curves on the highway.
some of the curves on the freeway on my morning trip home (with next to nobody on the road) can be quite interesting at 110 mph
Hmmmm You must be refering to the "Keiichi" part of my nick, and inferring a reference to Tsuchiya. A common mistake actually, but it's a tip of the hat to Keiichi Morisato from AA Megami-sama, a rather popular anime by Fujishima.
As for the RX7 part, who doesn't like art in motion? Besides I was workon on ressurecting an old FB for a few months. Sadly money ran out before just after I got the engine running.
Don't know what youre smoking but the JGTC Skylines are FR layout. As for comparing a JGTC Supra and an FZ50 GTR.... Engines at the wrong end. To be honest We coudl stand another Front engine Rear drive GTR, with a naturally aspirated engine. We could also use a Mid Engine GTR for sure, but lets be intelligent enough to stop slagging off cars just because of where they come from.
Says the person who takes thier name from Initial D.
For you I suggest watching the following episode of VOD cars, In which a properly prepared Civic CRX dusts a Lamborghini Galardo http://youtube.com/watch?v=uG1roCjcca0
I'd just like to take a moment to invite Mr Cliffe to go screw himself(1)
Ok that taken care of, you know damn well what I mean. In a real car you have your full field of view(2), and if ya want to look left, you simply do so to your heart's content. There's no ackward mid corner button pressing, or requirment of additional equipment. Chances are unless you have the vision of the average trout you can still see whats ahead out of the corner of your eye, well enough to reflexively look forward again at least should anything sudden happen (not that you should be looking away from your direction of travel for extended periods anyway).
(1)I can think of a certain Ex Formula 1 driver with a few GP wins under his belt that is getting his ass handed to him in an American series. He's even got spotters!
More seriously though, what is your deal with American drivers? Did you have some kind of childhood shattering experience? One touch you in a no-no spot when you were a kid?
(2)In LFS, your view angle is significantly less (just a reality of having a monitor in front of you) even with FOV set at 120 (humans have nearly 180, not quite though).

Reason : Mr Cliffe seems more appropriate for an arrogant twat
because there isn't proper clutch or engine simulation yet. Without these two things it would go from "why can7 1 st4llzor teh car!?!" to "*explative* (insert engine or clutch) made me stall on teh grid! I hate you scavier!"
