Quote from R3DMAN :very nice cars these.. apart from the steering, seemed a little sensitive when i drove one but i guess being used to no power steering thats probably why.

There's a setting you can adjust for the steering between comfort, standard and sport (done from the indicator stalk and displayed between the clocks). I found that standard was far too twitchy.. and changed it to sport. Now it's a fair bit heavier, more like my E46 was. Definitely helps as no matter what Ford did to try and combat torque steer, they didn't remove it all.

Quote from TypeRacing :Nice car, but I can't put it in my mind why Ford had to make it as FWD...

Indeed! RWD would have been both much more fun, and much easier to put the power down.

Quote from Rynno666 :but maybe somebody who made player hack maybe he make this hack what change the passenger with no helmet maybe somebody can do it? I know some guys who play this game do amazing things ...maybe its not so difficult.but if its impossible or very hard or nobody dont want to make it then let it be i get my answer now But i hope somebody make it future

No can do I'm afraid. I coded LPH.. but I certainly wasn't the first (I saw the first version for S1 back in the day but no-one had done it for S2). I haven't looked into it, but it seems like Dustin has had a quick squizz.. and it sounds like it's not possible (at least not without some kind of nasty (and potentially incompatible for online use) memory hack), which is good enough for me.

I nose in here randomly to check car threads.. but certainly have no inclination to work on anything LFS related any more so personally, won't be trying to find a way around this.

Just enjoy LPH for what it is.. a little bit of fun and convenience to save you messing with hex values in a text editor.

Quote from Bawbag :Focus RS really does do something sexual for me i'm not going to lie, love it Ian.

I've been looking at ST's lately since i'm needing to go back to a 5 door, however knowing that the 2.5 it would have has 150bhp less than the RS would just kill me, along with running it.....

I'll have an RS one day.

A friend of mine's got an ST mk2 and he loves it! The new Mk3s are supposed to be really quite good too. There's a few people on the RS forum that have swapped their RS in for a new ST and haven't been disappointed.. regardless of a slight performance drop.

I bought the RS as I needed a kid-friendly motor (or at least, one I could fit an ISO-fix base into as there was no fittings in the BMW) and wanted something fun as well. Li'l Charlie fits in it a treat and so far, it ticks all the boxes for an all-round great car to drive.. and currently turning more MPG (sitting at 20.7 atm) in than the BMW (was at 17.2 when I traded it in).. so definitely a win-win for me

If you do get the chance.. grab it.. you won't be disappointed

Alex Cross.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it might have been.. quite a "fan" of the James Patterson books and have read most of them. Don't think it was quite as good as the likes of Kiss the Girls or Along Came a Spider, but not too bad a flick nonetheless IMO.

Also watched The Usual Suspects recently again.. just doesn't seem to get old that movie

Finally got to give it a quick clean (Optimum No Rinse is great!) and take some of my own pics.. shame it started to spit with rain just after I started, but was tired of it being filthy already. Hopefully the weather is better at the weekend when it can get a proper wash, polish and wax and can get time to hoover the inside too.

Now just waiting for the DVLA form to come through to put the new 'RS## DAD' plate on

Quote from e2mustang :yes its quite a hp difference, tho when i drove a powerful fwd(nissan maxima 3.5) i was so pissed i almosed crashed it on porpuse. its so ridicoulus. but that rs might be slightly better i assume

The RS apparently has some "trick" modified macpherson suspension and some funky diff that's apparently meant to help a great deal with torque steer (and tbh, after giving it some beans on the test drive, it seemed pretty impressive compared to some of the less powered FWD cars I've driven over the years and had to fight the wheel whilst pulling away from a set of lights). An LSD will also help putting the power down and some traction control to help further.. I did manage to spin the wheels in 3rd gear joining the motorway on the test drive.. so we'll see..

Quote from Timo1992 :Nice one Is it the 2.5 litre R5 turbo charged engine in the Focus?

Indeed it is.. should be fun!

Quote from doyal :You passed up a Range Rover Sport for that?

Yup. I've taken a few out of the past year for test drives as they're lovely looking (IMO at least) and _very_ nice to drive... but they're not what I'd class as "fun". Don't get me wrong.. it wasn't an easy choice as I always thought I'd be going "bigger and better" with every car change.. but even with the 330ci.. it was a great car to drive and I loved every minute of it, but it wasn't "fun". I think there's a fair difference between 'fun' and 'enjoyable'.

Quote from Tinytacohead :Personally I'd take a hot-hatch any day over a Range Rover. I mean, they've already got the larger transport category covered by way of his wife's VW. Losing RWD stinks but I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun with the replacement Ian.H! ..and e2mustang, who wouldn't want to crash a Maxima. (well, other than that guy who posted somebody else's goofy looking GLE a few pages back, lol)

This was Clare's argument too.. "why do we need a second big car?, let's have something fun!". I'll be 37 in a week's time.. Clare'll be 30 in March.. in 10 years time, I can still feel comfortable in something like a Range Rover.. but in something like the RS.. I'm gonna look like I have the anatomy of a hamster. The fact it was a damn sight cheaper than I would have got a Range Rover for too (hunting for something with really quite low mileage) also means we can sort out getting an extension built. The Touran's no Range Rover, but had 2 delivery miles on the clock when we bought it, has 7 seats, is a 1.6 turbo diesel so nice and economical and does a great job of handling the school run.. for what it is, it's a great motor in its class

After fitting coilies and giving it a winter wax a few weeks ago.. it's out with the old...

...and in with the new (excuse low quality dealer pics)...

With our little'n being 1 on 20th of this month.. was time I get something more family orientated, at least, something I could put a child seat in the back of to save having to use Clare's VW Touran all the time.. after tossing up between a 3.6l turbo diesel 2008 Range Rover Sport and something "fun".. fun overruled. Both lux packs, includes key-less entry, button start / stop, bluetooth, climate control, etc and 7" touch screen DVD with reversing camera amongst other stuff. Will take some getting used to FWD again as I've not had one in about 10 years as the last 4 cars have either been Mercs or BMWs.. but performance makes the 330ci seem like a 1.6!

2 years old, £24,000, with 3,400 miles.. pick up Tuesday or Wednesday after the dealer services it

Quote from Victor :mobile browser support is kind of a must yeah. I was thinking a mobile device should be detected by the server and content should be delivered accordingly, but I'm interested in hearing techniques others have used. Of course JavaScript can detect a lot of things as well and build the site accordingly. But I'm not sure on whether i'll build all site pages with JS or not. So it's a good topic that maybe needs its own thread.

Vic.. have a look / read into Media Queries. It's all done with CSS (no JS required) and detects screen size, rather than device.. so you can even test it with a normal desktop browser Also, no need for separate content either.. although you could strip out some aspects with device detection if you wished (cut down on imagery used for mobile etc).

Quote from Crashgate3 :Does anyone regularly use any browser that isn't Chrome or FF? I've been a FF user for years but it's REALLY starting to get on my nerves, mostly due to the random 10 second freezes and the fact that it'll happily much through 500MB of memory with just a single tab open.

I can't use Chrome because the Mrs's bookmarks are on there and using two browsers is far, far easier than having to set her up her own login or having to explain browser profiles.

How about Iron? I use it as my Chromium-based browser to do x-browser dev tests.

It's basically Chrome without the google "spying" stuff included

Quote from e2mustang :and how do u like the rattlebox so far?

I like it. Quiet (a lot quieter than I thought it would be being a soft top), feels solid, handles well and goes nicely when you push the loud pedal. 21mpg could be better, but I guess it's no rev-n-go scooter.

Seems that one of the rear parking sensors is fubar, so will get that sorted (came with 12 months warranty, so...).

Driving in the snow was a royal PITA however.. but at least the heated leather keep you warm

It seems very stiff, I guess not helped with the low profile tyres, but still very comfortable.

Took a bit to get used to the 6-speed box and traction control, but now all good and right foot restraint is in operation now so the traction control isn't an issue. I do find myself cruising about in it more whereas the E30 Touring was driven quite hard.

Looking forward to the summer

Got a few better reflection shots, even if it was dark again

Not quite as "perfect" as it was due to a 50 mile drive and it rained.. although the beading was good and the car dried itself within a few miles.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :That's nothing to worry about. If you look at the sidewall of the tyre, it sticks out quite a bit from the rim of the wheel. That is extra rubber, and it is there to reduce damage to the wheels if they get curbed. That ammount of damage to his sidewall is nothing to worry about. He still has a few CM to go before it cut through the tyre.

I _think_ that's actually a reflection rather than a slice out of the tyre (will check later). Definitely don't remember seeing any damage when I was cleaning the wheels and it would have stood out like a sore thumb when I was "up close n personal" so to speak

Quote :Correct. Wonder Wheels is Acidic, and if you try and dilute it, it doesn't do anything to the wheels. In short, Wonder Wheels is crap. Bilberry is one of the best.

I had used Autoglym custom wheel cleaner in the past, but that was quite acidic too I think.. and had heard / seen good reviews of Bilberry.

Quote :@ Ian. Great job on your Car. Looks lovely. As said above, the wheels could do with some more work. Is that permanent damage? MV2's are well known to suffer from brake dust corrosion quite easily.

Thanks Too dark to take pics this morning at 7am.. but by the time I got to work ~8am.. it had brightened a bit. The Red Moose Glaze really has worked wonders! A nice deep, wet looking shine.

That's unfortunately the extent of the pitting it really is bad and no matter how much I clean away, the wheels never look too nice and lets the rest down IMO. I diluted the Bilberry to ~3:1, first sprayed all 4 wheels, left for a minute or so and jetwashed off.. wasn't happy, so went back one wheel at a time with some more and used an Autoglym wheel brush to agitate it.. so they're currently about as good as they'll get. Took about an hour to do all 4. The bird that owned the car from new I don't think even managed to put it through a car wash, let alone clean the wheels. They're off to Lepsons when the better weather arrives and will then be removed to be cleaned and protected from then on

Next weekend will probably be a 2 day task of trying to sort out and polish my ol' man's N Reg Fiesta. Following weekend back to mine to do a proper paint correction and try and fill in, wet sand and polish the bonnet and front bumper of mine to remove the gazillions of stone chips.. then sort out my Fiancée's Pug 206.

Quote :Very nice car you have there Ian. You should get yourself over to www.detailingworld.co.uk. Be warned though, it can be very addictive. In the last 12 months, I have easily spent in excess of £1500 on detailing equipment. £150 of that was just for the Wax!

Thanks. I registered there and placed my order at CYC just before xmas. Settled for a DAS6-Pro in the end with Sonus 6" pads, and Menzerna Polishes, and grabbed a 4" backing plate and 3 4" Lake Country pads. ALso on the shopping list was some Billbery wheel cleaner, Red Moose Glaze, Poorboys Wheel sealant and some other bits and bobs. Lot came to just over £250 so was a good buy. Tim at CYC threw in a couple of samples of things too.. one being FK1000P which I tried today.

Took some before and afters.. doing it outside is a royal PITA with the short days we currently have.. started at 11:30, but by the time I finished at ~17:30, the light had divorced me

Did manage to grab a few before and afters though. Nothing fancy done with this.. wheels cleaned with billbery (unfortunately, they're in a terrible state of pitting etc. To be refurbed in the summer). Rinsed, roof washed with Autoglym hood cleaner, body washed with fairy washing up liquid to use as a degreaser of sorts and to cut through previous application of HD wax.. then washed with Autoglym shampoo (2BM naturally).. dried with a Megs Water Magnet (I know I know.. seems to work "ok", for now).. SFX4 pad with Final Polish with DAS followed by Red Moose Glaze and finally FK1000P wax

Maybe I'll be able to gets some "daylight" pics before I head off to work in the morning. Anyways...

Not sure what's worse.. trying to drive on snow covered roads, or the result of the mess that salt makes to your car's shine.

Sick of the salt covering the car form the weekly work commute... the results of a 5 hour handjob
