Quote from zlasken :Hey Guys ! I was wondering if someone cpuld make me a rollcage for the demo cars ? I really need it, So please do it!
I would be too Glad!

Sorry for bad English <3

Please explain, how you "really need it"?

1:> Need == necessity, can't live without.. hardly something relative to a computer game.

2:> As mentioned in #1, it's a computer game. How on earth is a roll cage in any of the demo cars going to make you perform any better in front of your screen?

My guess is you're a ricer / skidder (very often not mutually exclusive).

oh and 3:> You can't, plain and simple.

So in other words, apart from islam followers, most other brainwashed groups decided to grow a brain and start thinking for themselves.

That sounds about right, and I whole-heartedly agree.

Bundling them all on Alcatraz and then drilling a large hole in the bottom sounds like a good idea to me

Quote from HVS5b :Dangerous talk Ian.......

But lol anyway

Maybe so, but that's the impression I get from followers of that storybook.. as sad as it is.. believe me, I wish it wasn't.. a good friend came _very_ close to being a part of the London bombings.. I have nothing good to say about any of "them" or their stupid idiosyncrasies.

Please change your country flag by your name 'the stig 2'... it's embarrassing to be associated (even only by country) to someone with as little literacy skills as you have.

Self centred egotism and new levels of selfishness will prevail in their stead. It'll most likely get worse.

oh, you mean 'religion v2.0'?

Isn't that what religion / religious beliefs are right now? egotistical bullsh!t and selfishness? Or is that just islam?

Quote from Hankstar :The key difference there is that Trekkers know Star Trek is fictional and watch it as entertainment without basing their entire lives on it. Well, most of them do anyway. At least hardcore Trekkers don't blow themselves up at Star Wars conventions to kill Jedi infidels in order to join Kirk in the Nexus and bonk green-skinned space sluts for eternity.

HAH! Good job I was at work when I read this, I can just get another keyboard from the rack behind me as this one's now covered in coffee

Religion and money, the 2 axis of evil

I do believe religion causes a lot of problems in the world.. like religious beliefs are gospel (so to speak, heh). IMO, a religious belief is just an opinion... and is why I get fscked off with the PC brigade. Also friggin' annoying when you're trying to deliver packages in the morning and some retard won't open the door until he's finished facing east dancing on his knees on that stupid door mat! Many companies didn't get their deliveries due to those kinds of "security".

In short, IMO.. religion is a load of bollox and make believe.. a bit like star trek really

Sweet as! Thanks again wein.. adding the hack to the div.info-section styles has resolved the issue with a conditional comment to include a separate stylesheet for IE6

I owe ya a beer for that one.. I'd be ripping my hair out all night!

Ahah! Thanks wein.. that sounds pretty much spot on! The image in the page is set to float: left.

I've read up previously about "layout" stuff (like settings widths / heights specifically) but didn't think about that.

I'll give your suggestion a go.. many thanks

IE anomaly

Hi all..

I didn't post this in the coder's forum as it's not LFS related, but I know there's a few web coders around here

I've hit an anomaly that I've not come across before.. on one of the pages, IE6 doesn't want to display the text for the main content until either the window is covered and then shown again (alt+tab to a new app and back again, for example, ie: the UI gets redrawn) or I hit the refresh button.

I've attached 2 pics: 'ie_fscked_00.png' is what I get when I click on the link from the left-hand navigation link and 'ie_fscked_01.png' is what I get when I refresh (or the IE UI gets redrawn), which is obviously the desired result.

I've also added the code for the page (Smarty-based, see below) for anyone willing to have a nose about, although I can't see anything wrong with the code. The strange part is the index.php (Home) page works as expected, yet this b0rked page is almost the same (index.tpl was loaded and then one section removed and resaved as a different filename).

It works hunky-dorey in Firefox, no problems at all.

Has anyone else come across anything like this previously? Although it's being done voluntarily for my bro's boss, I can't turn around and say "tough, it's for Firefox users only"

Page code:
{* $Id$ *}
{assign var='page_title' value='About Us'}
{include file='header.inc.tpl' title="$page_title"}
<div id="container">
{include file='header_logo.inc.tpl'}
{include file='main_menu.inc.tpl'}

<div id="content">

Been using uTorrent for ages now, never had a problem (currently using 1.6 still). The only time I get any pauses in system responsiveness is when a download completes and starts seeding.

I used Azureus before that but it's way too bloated for my liking (and Java apps are just crap in regards to speed / resource hogging IMO).

My windoze install was in dire need of reinstalling too so it wouldn't have been doing any apps any favours really, but no problems to report.

It sounds like there's something else amiss rather than utorrent itself, although what, I couldn't say.

Quote from mickyc30 :i donno how to get rid of the noise, im just a newbie at rendering, and yeah the chrome on the exhaust isnt really chrome, does anyone have a better chrome texture?

Noise will be down to the samples used for the shadows (can't remember where to change this with brazil). You'll need to increase the shadow sample value and it'll generate smoother shadows, but at the cost of rendering time due to it having to do more calculations.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :I haven't decided yet. Do I want an XP or Vista to be along side OSX on my MBP. I've used Vista on my iMac for the past... 8 months and not hated it entirely, but after using XP a bit the other day, I liked it. Decision that I have 3 days to make.

<Comments going "LULZ VISTA SUX" are welcomed, if they provide proper backing up, else I can finally make an accurate decision that said person might be a moron>

I wouldn't buy / install vista myself, but as an OS to just run a few editors, firefox and PuTTY on in The Workplace(tm) it seems to suffice (not sure what it'd be like on older hardware though).

That said, I've only used it since the box was delivered on Friday, so can't really give a proper opinion on it.. but my guess would be that if all you want to do is check e-mail / browse a few sites, it's probably fine (ignoring the ridiculous system requirements (one reason I wouldn't buy / install it myself.. no OS should require that kind of performance)) but I have a gut feeling if you need to actually do stuff to / with the _OS_ it'll be a nightmare (as are most versions of windoze though).

Still doesn't appear to be a proper multi-user OS like windoze has tried to be since 2k. At least that's one thing OS X appears to handle ok

There's plenty of those floating around here. Mike, the other tech fella swears by his.

I asked for XP, to which the boss replied "Vista it is then" with a dodgy grin on his chops

Still.. I also got a cool gadget to easy the pain of using blista.... electronic bubblewrap

The above method is one way.. alternatively, have a peek at the 'studio floor' thread on dSRC forums I linked to previously. It's initially for VRay, but the modelling side of things is the same irrespective of the renderer so you can just apply brazil materials to it instead

I find this method works better and produces a generally smoother transition between the vertical and horizontal areas of the scene and you don't have to worry so much about camera angles.

After not getting on with macs.. the boss ordered me in a new box

OK, it's running windoze blista (now with all the stupid UAC etc disabled) but a 2.4Ghz quad-core with 3Gb RAM and 22" screen... runs the coding editors / IDEs I need just fine

Wallpaper's a quick 5 min jobbie as a result of some Photoshop filter experiments.

Quote from JamesF1 :No, you get strange looks because going up the left-hand side of someone is illegal... (with a few exceptions, such as when filtering off)

True in that it's illegal, but I doubt the people sitting 3" away from the steering wheel on 2 cushions so they can see over it doing 50 gripping the wheel like they're hanging off a cliff edge with a rope have the IQ level to know that

Sometimes I can't be arsed to cross over to the inside lane and then all the way back to the outside lane just to pass a dawdler.. especially when there's nothing in front for a long way.

Sorry, just need to correct this... there is no 'fast' or 'slow' or whatever else lane, all lanes are restricted by the same speed limit, be it 40, 50, 60 or NSL.

So many people call certain lanes slow and fast lanes.. and maybe why I get some strange looks when I cruise past 20mph faster on their left hand side because they can't be arsed to get out of the fscking middle lane doing 50mph! It's actually amusing to see truckers do it and then watch the dappy twat in the middle lane wobble about while they shit themselves
