Yep I sometimes use that in public servers. However previously in league races I've seen people miss important information from the host. I've never seen them using the /msg command, perhaps its the assumption that people can receive msg's normally. And in this case in light of what was happening there was a possibility of the race being restarted or some other information from the host. So in league races I've been told that its not recommended to block messages.

Well, to make up for me forgetting the start time of the last race :/ I had a great race last night. Long post alert!!

In all honesty I was dreading it. I'd only put in a handful of practice laps in the XRT at Fern Bay Green Reversed. I normally look at the XRT in same distain I would Jade Goody (a little saggy and probably doesn't handle well) as I'd never managed to find a good setup - all the fast sets tend to be tail-happy. Anyway I found a great set *just* before the race which enabled me to properly drive the car.

I qualified 8th out of a grid of 13 (after the handful of laps). The "InSim" worked very well which picked the grid. Unfortunately an early retirement by Ihab Abbas after he joined from the pits - he was immediately disqualifed and then went on to protest while the rest of us tried desperately to ignore the constant talking. The fact that it was allowed to carry on for so long was pretty bad - I feel for Ihab but the rest of us were trying to race.

I made up 2 places on the first lap and had a really good fight with the remaining people who were tied up in their own battles. I was able to haul them in thanks to the nice stable setup I was using (some people were just trying too hard). And before the end of lap 6 I was leading.

I held on with a great drive, thoroughly enjoying it. Then around 13 laps from the end I went just a little wide into the chicane at the top of the hill - the one with the savage kerbs. This threw me into the barrier and let me tell you, I've never clenched by butt cheeks harder, and it seemed to work as I stayed on four wheels but the front left took a smack and bent it such as the camber heated the sidewall of the tyre. The car had a hard time turning right so I tried to nurse it into those corners, reducing speed and scrubbing as little as possible, while pushing hard on the left hand bends. It seemed to work, the tyre was going to survive (even though it showed a red temp indicator) but I was loosing 2 seconds per lap. By this time Sheepy had started putting in consistent times and he caught me but dropped back a couple of times. Then about 3 laps from the finish he passed me and I finished 4 seconds behind him but still got a 2nd place.

I also got the fastest lap of 1:22.65, highest top speed and also was the highest climber. I led for 25 of the 35 laps.

Still, my fastest lap was a good 3+ seconds behind the guys in the top servers - amazing times by them. And well-done to all.

Guys, I've updated to the nVidia 163.71 WHQL verified drivers and now my LFS looks sh!t again. I've checked the nHancer AND the nVidia Control Panel show the improvements, but its just not happening. See the screenshot for what I mean.



Obviously I've not shown the other screens, but the improvements aren't showing. I've got a league match in an hour and I'm really needing some help if anyone can please...
(by the way, I've just upgraded nHancer to version 2.3.1 which is nVidia v163 compatible... no difference)

Did you get it? A little late don't you think? Passwords were mailed out.

Just a note, in the Multiplayer screen, it is REALLY hard to read the text at the bottom right as its black text on a black tyre...

Not sure you do actually need the Vector Expansion, it just will only have a reduced functionality.

I use it all the time, it DOES take some getting used to however its so difficult to go back without it - it is an invauable tool. In 'extreme situations' it can come into its own

What's the difference between Demo & Full versions - thats for the Demo & Full S2 licence version of LFS right? I read it as being a Demo and Full version of your pack...

Ok so the new patch has been out for a good while now, and I can say hand on heart that I've never noticed a difference between high and normal resolution skins.

Who uses them and do you get benefit?

Yeh new drivers don't solve 100% of issues, but ring any support line and the first question will be "how old are your drivers?".
And in my case updated drivers fixed a BSOD issue, so unless you KNOW that a newer driver works its always well worth a try.

I've seen that before, I know what you mean. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it but will follow with interest. HOWEVER, drivers are at v162.18 so yours are very old. Get the latest ones from here; http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html (they are WinXP drivers).

My quali was awful, put a slow time in but I know it wouldn't improve to make a difference so I sat a lot of it out.

Horrible crash on first corner, here's what happened; From the back of the grid I gained ground, Iceman got a poor start, I made up 2 places before the 1st corner. In the middle of the pack Overlord went into the corner far too early and as a result slid out and into an innocent Istabraq [/B](would not be surprised if there's a complaint filed there). They both spun, Overlord went off the track but Bozo hit Istabraq flipping him over, ceman narrowly missing him in spectacular style (and I mean narrowly - probably scraped the paint of the car )

I went into the melee and hit them but seemed like I was going to be okay as I stayed straight ... but Nikoolaa punched me hard from the rear spinning me out. A couple of people came off really badly and had to pit, I was fairly lucky and was amazed there wasn't any damage. Others were not so lucky and had to limp round for a pitstop.

Most people will probably stop for tyres.

Is it worth fuelling for the full race though? Would a full race worth of fuel slow you down enough to justify the time difference to half a load and fill up for the pitstops?

The older driver (one that came with the card on CD) cause Blue Screen of Death. This latest driver is stable so going back isn't an option.

Just to let you know, the screenshots you've made of the panels in nHancer are out of date, they look different to the version I'm using (2.2.3).

I didn't realise you could set profiles in the standard control panel...

I might try nHancer, though I'm not a fan of loads of stuff running in the background.
