No idea - manufacturers website?
Why do you need to know?

How difficult are these cars!!? Anyone got some setup tips please?

The RAC is excellent at understeering and the FZ5's tyres are glowing red within a few laps. Very difficult this round, a good challenge.

I started the race on R4's... Oops! Hadn't changed them from running tests on tyres. Meant I lost a lap

> You are probably spectating at that moment and not in a car

Nope, I was driving, and that big yellow message is straight in front of me.
Hence the post here.

1) Am driving.
2) Yellow notification of having a message (on all the time)
3) Type in $next
4) Get the message(s) of no messages

Ps - it did disappear when the new race started - but that was *several* minutes later.

> must have exlained it 8 times in not that long of a period

... what?

Any idea what this is? It says I have a message but it also says I don't...

I find that the differential is crucial. For me if it is too tight I'll spin the back end round, too loose and it lights up the inside wheel. I found somewhere around 15 on the viscous diff to be about right for me.

Pool 5 - From what I saw everyone was superbly behaved, T1 was a dream, most people just tucking in and the back of the field went through single-file.

I could have finished a couple of positions up (I finished 8th) but I had a couple of oversteer moments - and one "WTF was that?!" in the fast chicane when the car snapped round (never saw it before or since).

I apologised for tapping a racer as I drafted down the straights (lap 26 I think), obviously didn't know where my nose was!!

Enjoyed the racing last night!!

I agree that it will be off-putting with two monitors. You'd probably have to have *three* or just the one.

I received my G25 set yesterday. I've upgraded from a lesser set of plastic force feedback steering wheel and two pedals. This is what I have to say about it and also how it has knocked back my driving to square one!

First impressions are good, though it will take some getting used to.

The wheel;
Superb quality, heavy, durable. Great motors on the force feedback. The wheel feels excellent in the hands though I've not been able to get away with the 900 degree rotation so I've set it somewhat lower. The paddles are excellent quality, made of metal, and make a satisfying 'click' when moved.

Also it is possible to feel slight 'steps' when turning the wheel slightly, probably due to the force feedback motors I'd guess.

The pedals;
Pretty good, solid, but could be better. I would like to see the brake pedal move MUCH less, almost not at all, and be applied by pressure to the pedal and not movement. If anyone has ever driven a Caterham car then you'll know what I'm on about. Also the clutch is very linear - you should be given the option to adjust the ratio of input depending on how far you push the pedal because in real cars the clutch isn't linear.

Oh - almost forgot - its a bit annoying when you come off the accelerator briefly to change gear and bang it back down. You get a reverberating vibration from the springs inside which last for about a second - it makes a noise and you can feel it through the pedal.

The shifter;
This is the most disappointing thing about the set. It just feels rubbish and plasticy. There's hardly any resistance going between gears and it feels sloppy in the guides. Not good whatsoever. I've actually unplugged it from the set.

I've not been able to get the Logitech Profiler to have much effect on the performance (such as the wheel rotation limits) but the Windows Game Controller applet works fine.

I also have been turned into a gibbering n00b with this set, I just can't coordinate everything because I've moved up from a simpler two-pedal layout with shifter on the wheel. I can't get my head round using everything at once!! Sounds funny, especially if you bear in mind that I've had a driving licence for 20 years and I hold a racing licence too.

The reason they don't use accelerometers for head tracking is that even with a small tilt of your head the inputs would give a false reading like you moved your head in a different way.

See the TrackIR website for info; http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/, you'll get the idea.

Very useful in flightsims like FS2004 or FSX. And I've got to using it in LFS all the time, it is very useful.

Thats pretty cool.

... but why not just use a TrackIR??
I've got an older TrackIR 3 and use it all the time in LFS.

Have to admit that I've had occasional problems with the site too - only parts of it loading, the background loading but not the content.... etc. It always cleared up the next day by itself so it is impossible to say where the issue lay.

Discrepancy in results - pool 7 - OLFSL website

Under the "Race Results" section, 1st is Goucha, 2nd is Horrgakx, 3rd is Logan 5.

Under the "Replays and stats" section, 1st is Goucha, 2nd is HASH, 3rd is Horrgakx.

The two results sections for pool 7 don't match. I've not checked other pools.

Quick question; I noticed that some names/plates racing last night did not match what the driver registered on the LFS-League website.

A minor point, but if it doesn't matter then whats the point of registering them?

I wasn't so happy about what happened in our pool (7), two guys appeared from another server and were *several seconds quicker* than everyone else (up to 3 seconds from memory - waiting for the results to be announced). Fair play to them and congratulations for the first and second positions.

But this poses an interesting question - what if someone from a lower pool qualified at the back, they could then request to go back down to slower pools and thus clean up...

British Summer Time

As posted on the LFS-League.com site already (on the front page!), it doesn't hurt to mention that the clocks went forward an hour in the UK today.

For UK racers only, this means that you add an hour to your race time. So, as an example, my Pool 7 race starts 19:00 GMT. As I'm in the UK this will actually be 20:00!!

I'm sure everyone will know this... but hey, now you're 100% sure
