I have error similiar to what Troy wrote a few posts above. In spoiler because long text:
Was this qualy replay: http://abnl.racemore.de/mpres/league/S3/2/R03/q/
Beside that error at top of page, stats seem okay.
race replay is normal: http://abnl.racemore.de/mpres/league/S3/2/R03/r/
Maybe something went wrong during qualy, because after the time was up I could not see the results-table in LFS. Think others had same problem.
Also when race was started, grid was in randomized order and had to be set manually.
Maybe that is a hint..
Would be cool to have 360° roll for the free shift-U camera too. Currently it locked to +-90°
Having upside-down camera that then flips around would be good effect in movies. Hard to explain but on TV it gets used sometimes when showing the startgrid of a race.
Between 0.6K and 0.6P were some updates that I would guess make them not compatible. (like new autocross objects)
I think different letters in the version-name mean the versions are not compatible.
No idea on the DK1 question, maybe just try it out. Worst case is that you might to keep two installs.
(one for normal online play, one for local network)
But when I edit the placeholder filenames, for example:
|Trackmap=[[Image:RO1.jpg|300px|none]]
to
|Trackmap=[[Image:RO1-Pits.png|300px|none]]
then the preview button returns a blank/white page. Submit-button also returns a white page and edits are not saved.
Otherwise editing seems to work, for example other pages or editing the text.
The problem is that S2 is not only cars, but tracks too.
When race is with an S2 car OR S2 track then players need S2 license.
Got me a bit curious, so I had a look at the car/track combinations that I played in last weeks.
I looked what would have been minium license required for the recent past races. Result:
s3,s2,s2,s2,s1,s3,s2,s2,s3,s2,s2,s2,s3,s1,s3,s1,s3,s2,s2,s3,s2,s3,s2,s1,s1,s3,s2,s2,s2
(When I raced same car/track combination over several days I only wrote it down once)
From 29 car/track combinations the count was:
s1 = 5 times
s2 = 15 times
s3 = 9 times
Not super exact and will be differ between players, but maybe as rough estimate.
Twice cost but could join tripple the races, imo better per-money value.
The thing cars/tracks combinations get picked without regard whether the mix requires s1 or s2 because it is assumed most users have at least s2.
Probally caused by lag and not sure anything can be done about that.
When programs send data over network they use 'sockets' to do so. There are two kind of sockets:
a) blocking - the program pauses/hangs until the operation is completed. For example when wanting to recieve data, the program will not continue with its other tasks until data has been recieved.
b) nonblocking - the program does not pause while doing the socket thing. Instead data is put into a buffer and when the program wants to recieve data, it takes data from the buffer. But what if buffer is empty, for example because connection was lagging? Then the socket would have to wait ("block") again, and informs about that with message: "would block." The program can then retry later, when connection is hopefully better.
This cup has ended last weekend.

On sunday midday is a race of similiar format and in evening two other things.
I noticed that demo accounts can not attach files to forum?
That is bit unfortunate because demo users often have beginner questions where uploading files would be useful.
For example some problem with settings (screenshot) or with driving (replay)
I think demo users should be able to upload files, at least replays and screenshots.
Or the upload-function should have a note "only licensed users can post attachments", to avoid confusion.
Today evening first race of new season: Raceabout at Aston.
Note: Due to european soccer championship today's race starts 30min later, at 20:00 CET.
(That is circa 3h from this post.)
Following races will start at the usual time of 19:00 CET.
Not sure about the G29, but G25 and G27 detect the wheel rotation with a small optical encoder wheel. (sensor counts the slits to detect rotation) That part is bit fragile plastic and appearently tends to break.
Then the sensor gets confused by the cracks or the encoderwheel falls completly. (=random sensor signals)
having the testraces on different days would be good because people have free time on different days.
for example i did one testrace but often saturday is not best time for me...
And maybe idea for laptimes list, because real drawing graphics is not possible with insim buttons:
An arrow that points up or down depending if the lap was faster than the previous one.
v = faster than previous lap ^ = slower than previous lap
lap 1 | 1:20 -
lap 2 | 1:18 v
lap 3 | 1:19 ^
lap 4 | 1:17 v
lap 5 | 1:15 v
lap 6 | 1:24 ^
lap 7 | 1:23 v
lap 8 | 1:15 v
Suggestion:
A way to display all laptimes of a session.
There already exists a !top list to show best lap time. Sometimes it would be nice to know your times over several laps.
Similiar to the stats on lfsworld saves for races:
But lfsworld only records laptimes of full, completed race and uploading every practice-replay to an mpRes installation is not so feasible.
So one could join a server, do practice laps for 1-2 hours and then get a list of all laptimes done in that session.
