ND = new driver
OD = old driver

1) ND connects to server
2) ND tabs to his teams car, sets his driving view
3) ND brings up playerlist with N
4) OD enters pitlane
5) ND clicks 'T' in playerlist
6) during the pitstop, OD leaves the car in neutral *
7) OD accepts the driver-change by clicking the 'T' too
8) ND is in control of the car

faster variante:

5) ND clicks 'T' in playerlist
6) during the pitstop, OD leaves the car in 1st gear AND stays on throttle AND hold down clutch *
7) Holding down clutch requires only one foot/finger. So once the pit-stop is coming to an end (watch the messages about refueling etc) OD rapidly clicks the 'T' as fast as possible.
Do not attempt to "react" to end of pitstop, just continously spam the button! *click click click*
8) ND is also on throttle, but not on clutch
9) Once pitwork is finished, because of the click-spam ND will instantly get control
10) At moment of driver-change, clutch is suddently not pressed anymore and because engine & turbo are already spun up, acceleration is much better.

The car-take-over times out after a while. (about 30-60 seconds?)
So if you press it too early during the lap remember to 'refresh' it during the pitstop.

* That is important in case the driver-change did not work, (usually by mis-click) because once the car has moved you have to do another pitstop to try again.

Was not some patches ago something changed how controller calibration works? I think there is no lock-button anymore. At least I can not see it either...

What do you mean by "decalibrating itself"? That the wheel is not in sync with the ingame wheel anymore, not straight? Does it happen to the pedals too?

I tried few times now. Not too much practice, but my facit:

Passing two cars is not so difficult, one way is squeezing inbetween them before or during the first turn. But it needs a bit luck not to hit another car, or be hit by them.
Because just being quick is not enough, you also have to drive in a way that is compatible with the AI drivers. For example on the straight they always seem to drive very far to the right side after the bridge, even if you are beside them. Other times they brake very early if you beside them, might be possible to exploit that.

I did not manage to pass the third car. Sometimes it was close, or I was already past, but then got contact and lesson failed.
Passing on the long straight I found difficult, because the exit speed depends on how much the other cars hindered you.

In the "2nd" replay I passed two cars in usual way in T1, then waited until end to pass at the last turn/finish. That seemed most promising strategy but never worked.
Maybe the purpose of this lesson is that it requires luck to pass three cars in one lap. Shrug

I'd guess some problem with windows or maybe antivirus software, but hard to tell without more details.

You can try to open the setup exe as a zip archive, then manually unpack the files into a folder.
(did that sometimes with other installers, not sure if that works with LFS)
