You need more practice too. Never use excessive throttle while you have any significant degree of steering lock. Always try to drive the corner so you can unwind the steering lock as soon as possible. Then you can get back on the throttle.

I thought it felt totally unrealistic driving the FOX with 720 degree.

There's quite a few tracks with crests and dips and KY GP Long has some savage bumps at the final turn. Seems quite realistic to me. All race circuits I've driven on in real life are far smoother than your average UK A road.

Quote from Spils :So am i right in setting the wheel at 240 instead of 270 someone told me the other day its a 270 degree wheel were as im sure its 240..

also in steering settings for each car do u need to change anything there to get a better feel ?

Personal preference I'd say. My G25 has much more rotation available but I prefer to limit it.

No AS Noth. I thought about it but it's just too tight and short. We've done that at Club

Anyone up for some racing right now. Few of us on the server now. It's Aston Historic so great fun in both classes

Quote from simonfilby :Generic response to this and many similar threads:

I have to say I'm getting scared sh1tless to enter most online games for fear of offending someone with my average driving. I've had LFS for some time and drive with reasonable care but without aids like wing mirrors and peripheral vision I usually end-up going cross-country rather than challenge someone. I'm not a noob by any means but I'm no master of the art either, I just play LFS to have fun and wind-down, but with the proliferation of servers, and threads similar to this - it's getting harder to find somewhere to go and have fun. "Leagues" strike me as too formal to support the average driver and I have no interest in screwing up other peoples gaming.

Answers on a postcard please....

My server and events all cater for driving of all standards (so long as you have reasonable control over the car) Even if someone is useless and keeps crashing that's fine so long as I can see that the intention to drive clean is there.

See http://www.gentlefoot.com/LFS/forum/index.php for information about leagues and ladders and you will see how it works.

Join GentlefootFormulaRacing and you will recieve help not abuse from the drivers on there.

Quote from joshdifabio :Well, I guess I can add them as 75 min timed races although I try to avoid that .

I'll add it myself a little later since I know how to use the advanced forms, and haven't written any explanation for them yet . Using the basic form takes ages if you are adding an entire league, so it's easier if I do it myself for the time being.

I attached MPR2DAT in this post, something seems to be screwy with the attachments on spdoracing.com at the moment.

Brilliant - thx mate. I hadn't planned to work out the number of laps until I open entry for each event but there's nothing to stop me working it out tonight (although I base them on WR times which can change).

I'll post the number of laps for each race in the Events Timetable section when I get home tonight.

If you want to be fast though you will need those optimum camber settings etc. I often race with hotlap or qualifying sets. All I do to keep the tyre temp down is brake a tiny but less hard, turn in less aggresively and use the absolute minimum amount of lock required.

Also, new tyres get very hot after a few laps but that is just a stage of their lifecycle. Keep going and you will find as the rubber gets thinner they cool down a lot. I have set some of my fastest laps with R1 tyres after about 50 laps!

Quote from Doorman :Anyone that knows me knows I'm not fast. Middle of the field usually. I admire the guys that ARE fast. Most of them are gentlemen too, they know when to pass a slower chap. Unfortunately there are some who are fast and I can only say, ungentlemanly. They'll pass you in the most inappropriate places, i.e. in the middle of a chicane or on the outside of a tight corner. If they get away with it all well and good but more often than not a collision occurs. Wouldn't you know it's always the slower guy that comes to grief! Off they charge into the distance with a dismissive 'soz'. I understand this subject has been raised many many times in these forums but the problem still persists. It happened to me tonight and I'm angry. What it comes down to, in my humble opinion, is a lack of respect for fellow races of all capabilities. You know who you are so shape up! You'll not only be fast, you'll also get the respect of everyone you're on track with.
As we say on Dead Men Racing "Racing is a non-contact sport"

Rant over.

Come to the GentlefootFormulaRacing server. I don't stand for that kind a 5h1*!

Quote from joshdifabio :You can add it if you like, I had a look on the GFC website but couldn't find race lengths etc so I didn't add it. Let me know by PM if that changes.

Josh

All races are approx 75 minutes. It's in the General Details section. How do I add it then mate?

Quote from Greboth :Nooooooo don't scrap it. I joined up in the fox but ended up being too busy to challenge anyone but i will when i have some free time in a week or so

Don't worry - I'm giving it a little longer. As I say, very little effort from me needed.

Come to GentlefootFormulaRacing any weeknight from about 8 or 9 and there will be a number of racers on their usually concentrating on improving lap times in quali sessions. If we end up with enough racers we'll have a race.

Now, the thing is, I welcome noobs/slow coaches, whatever you want to call them. I try and help slower people with setups and advice. Everyone that races on my servers will respect slower drivers. If they don't they get harsh words or even a ban. This is never necasary though as the dual class FOX/FO8 seems to attract drivers with a more mature attitude.

Quote from Paranoid Android :I like the idea very much. How many people have already joined? I would prefer working my way up the ladder and not down, that's why I'm waiting for more people

lol - the fox ladder has 10 so far. That's the biggest at the moment. Maybe everyone is doing the same as you mate.

Quote from Syfoon :I'd probably be up for it, if I wasn't so gack in the FOX and FO8

Don't worry about that. There is a range of pace among the field. It's more about avoiding crashing/pitstops in this type of dual class event.

Check out the race results of Sunday's race. If you look at the number of pitstops everyone made you'll see what I mean. I was on a 1 stop strategy, stopped 4 times and still won the class lol.

This ladder is now up and running and I've even added a couple of results. See: http://gentlefoot.com//LFS/for ... 2b4bf3e815b9496b1ba7556a9

Please feel free to join. It takes very little effort on my part so numbers are not a problem.

Also, we will be holding regular ladder nights where we all meet up, challenge each other and race head to head i.e. only two cars on track at a time and the rest spectating.

Great race wasn't it. Can't wait for the start of the season now with 32 car grids! Gonna be awesome.

Don't worry about the rant mate. So long as you don't direct insults at anyone that's fine. btw - I watched most of your race and you did a fine job mate.

Shame we had some lag. When we had that lag incident at the end of the start finish straight I managed to take the best top speed FOX time. Managed 223kph whereas all the other FOXs only managed 213kph lol. That's why I ended up running into the back of you mate. Had an extra 10kph and couldn't shed it quick enough

Check out the race results http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/GFCRace0_results.html#top lol

Quote from FL!P :I've run into this error when using InSim apps. Open that application's config file (a file with a .cfg extension), look for an entry named "adminPass", and make sure its value is set to your current admin password.

Hi Flip- thx mate. I got an xml file but no cfg file. There is a section of the file that looks like this:

<ConnectionMethod>server</ConnectionMethod>
- <!-- server | relay -->f(clean);
<ServerAdminPassword />

<ListenPort>64999</ListenPort>

How do I add the password in? Like this?:

<ConnectionMethod>server</ConnectionMethod> - <!-- server | relay -->f(clean);
<ServerAdminPassword>mypassword</ServerAdminPassword>

<ListenPort>64999</ListenPort>

Also, how do I know what my current admin password is? Is it the one I use to unlock LFS?
LFS Stats Version for Patch W

Hi all,
Anyone know if there is an LFS stats tool that works with this version?

This new version is for patch X http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 3&highlight=LFS+stats

The old version I have doesn't seem to work (LFS stats! v1.34) doesn't appear to work either.

All I get when I run v1.49 is "InSim:Admin password does not match" and "InSim:Packet recieved before ISI Packet"

Can anyone help?
