Quote from dropin_biking :Ohhh, sweet, gentlefoot's site...been meaning to check that out, thanks for reminding me, cheers. And yes I've been playing with other cars in LFS, that damn hatchback with slicks thats high on vtec is whack, it can't even hook up down low. I'm still favouring the XRT/RB4/FXO combo, or the XRR/FOX/FZR slicked cars.

Glad you like the site. If you like the FOX you might enjoy the FO8 especially if you have a wheel and peddles. It's great fun around the big tracks like Kyoto GP. There's a set and a trackguide for it at gentlefoot.com.

There is also a trackguide for the FOX around FE Club and the sets I used to make the guides are available on the sets page.

Maybe we'll see you in the GFC sometime.

I've got a good set for this car - available here:

Quote from pedx1ng :Hi all,

I am an old S1 licensed user. I got distracted with other things and didn't play much after I registered. (World of Warcraft is evil btw!)

I recently saw an STCC race on YouTube and I thought it was the coolest thing that someone made a TV style broadcast for a league race. Watching it reminded me of how fun LFS is. So I grabbed S2 and registered it.

I have a preference for open wheel cars so I've decided to start working on the Formula XR. Eventually, I would like to start racing online, but right now I don't want to wreck other players or fall off the track every other lap. So I figured trying to get the benchmark at the various tracks would be a good idea. I've started to work on the classic Blackwood layout, which seems a no brainer, but my question is what are the other popular track layouts for this particular car online? I don't want to try and work on too many different layouts because it will be overload, so I'd like to concentrate initially on those that I will have a good chance of finding races on.

Thanks for any input.

If you are into the FOX it might be worth looking at the GFC. See www.gentlefoot.com

Quote from vlado_skopsko :Thank you for explaining me how the anti roll bar works with the locked diff .Yes I have the oversteer even if I dont apply the throttle so it might be that the regaining of the front wheels traction is causing that. I will try to modify the setup. Thank you all for pointing this to me.

It's caused by a soft front end allowing the front springs (and ARB) to compress too much under braking. As they do this they store some energy within them and as you release the brake this energy is released. As the energy is being released it a) raises the front of the car back up as the springs decompress and b) some of that force goes to pushing the front tyres into the track, resulting in a sudden increase in front end grip, hence the oversteer.

Yep Evilgeek is right - one click of front bump and a click of front spring rate should help minimize this effect.

Left foot braking while keeping a tiny bit of throttle on at corner entry can also help limit this effect.

getting this error for each:

Aah - relative paths have a habit of cocking up your testing.

Try again and they should all work now.

Thanks for letting me know.

I have added a setups page to the gentlefoot.com site. See

LFS Setups

These are all tried and tested over race distance, are consistent and within a 10th or two of WR. Most of these have been tweaked by yours truly but some of them do come from top racers such as papafant and storm_cloud to name a couple.

Mainly FOX sets at the moment but more sets will be added in time.

Funny thing is I always had this view that Canadians were somewhat similar to us Brits. Similar sense of humour and all that I thought.

Still getting at least 20 to a grid so no, not really.

Got nothing to say? It's OK you can always post useless comments on peoples threads. I'm sure they won't mind especially when they are trying to achieve something. All you do is keep the thread alive. hahaha.

Bring it on

Quote from xaotik :Well - one simple technique to make it work on all resolutions is:

Change the slidername.jpg to be only the "gentlefoot.com" logo and glue the screenshot with the wing in sliderlogo.jpg. Then change this (naturally changing the width of the second cell to the width of sliderlogo.jpg):

<!--top strip-->
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td width="62%" height="53" background="slidername.jpg"> </td>
<td width="38%"background="sliderlogo.jpg"> </td>
</tr>
</table>

To this:

<!--top strip-->
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td height="53" bgcolor="#B6B6B4">slidername.jpg</td>
<td width="width of sliderlogo.jpg in pixels" background="sliderlogo.jpg"> </td>
</tr>
</table>

A CSS layout would be more flexible - but it's okay since you got this one going fine otherwise.

You're the don! Nice one mate. I used your code and changed each jpg image and now it's the nuts. Anyone with less than a 2000 screen res will never see the end of the first image. Very nice.

Big thx mate.

New Teams - A Chance to Prove Yourselves

Just thought I'd make a suggestion to any new teams out there. Why not prove yourselves in a league event?

In the Gentlefoot Formula Challenge (GFC) we have representatives from many of the top LFS teams - spdo, coRe, R4R, ZWR, FPR to name but a few.

There are 3 races left of the current season so a chance to test your metal. Then if you think you can mix it with the top guys then maybe go for a championship win in season 2.

Go to www.gentlefoot.com for more information about the GFC and how to enter.

Thanks for all the testimonials guys. I'm gonna create a testimonials page on the main site for them. For the best one I will add it to the sidebar on www.gentlefoot.com

You could always save the replay and then output the lap data for each lap and then view lap times and splits in F1PerfView and Analyse For Speed. You can then compare one lap with another and see where you were quick or losing time.

There should be a 'both' option. These days I mainly drive single seater so it's irrelevant but in the old days when I drove in ESL I used to switch sides depending on the track. Clockwise tracks I would sit on the right and anti-clockwise the left.

Quote from three_jump :It may be just my bad eys but I think the orange colored links on a gray background are really hard to read.

Yeah - just haven't come up with the colours I need for the <a tag. It's set in the stylesheet so can be changed quickly. Can't use red, white or black as there is already text on the site in those colours. Might try a blue colour and leave the yellow as the hover over colour.

Quote from ajp71 :Looking good

I've found a few things that could be improved though:

1) The looping header.
2) The link from the track guides to the setups page doesn't work.
3) The orange links are really hard to read on the grey background.

Yeah the trackguides pages are still the old ones so I need to create them for the new format.

And yeah - the links colour is set in the stylesheet so I can change that easy if I decide to.

Quote from xaotik :Looking good - only thing I noticed was that the header will get messed up a bit if the window is wider than 1024 pixels since the background pictures keep on looping horizontally.

Yeah - its hard to do something that works on all screen res

But some people still use 800x600 so this was a compromise

Hey all,

It's been a long time coming but I found the time to update my website.

It will be updated regularly now as the content is far easier to change.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Not all the content is there yet but will be added in the next few days.

Quote from Skil :Gentlefoot: GFC is all about single-seater cars, at least that's what I've found on your site or maybe I'm wrong and you have place for other cars as well?

I ask because I prefer road cars that F1

Yeah - this is the first GFC season and the F stands for Formula. It's FOX's and FO8s.

I have discussed starting a GTTC competition which will be the same thing for Tin Tops but there hasn't been huge interest compared with when I started the GFC so it may not happen.

Give the FOX a try. You might find after getting used to it you like it. To me it feels the most realistic of all the LFS cars (once you have a good setup) but I'm sure lots of people would disagree.

I'm still loving it after 2 years. The GFC season is really hotting up now.

I've never got too excited about new patches apart from X and the one when they gave the RWDs more grip by sorting some tyre issues.
