Its like a post I saw earlier:

To commemorate World War One in 2014:

The French - Are erecting a statue in each village

The Germans - Are lowering their flags each day

The British - Are having a season of programmes on the BBC

The Russians - Cordially invite you to World War 3 commencing in the Ukraine

Quote from Minimaxman :Lea Wood confirmed as a driver for 2014 BTCC, this is his first time driving in the same class as everyone else, will be great to see how he gets on.

What are people's predictions for how the 7 ex-champs will place amongst themselves at the end of the season? This is my reckoning:

1 - Turkington
2 - Plato
3 - Jordan
4 - Shedden
5 - Gio
6 - Neal
7 - Menu

This is my predictions. I don't know why, but I just think Menu will take the Championship by storm this year

1 - Menu
2 - Gio
3 - Neal
4 - Plato
5 - Jordan
6 - Shedden
7 - Turkington

I have started to create a Playlist of LFS Movie's.

http://www.youtube.com/playlis ... u-eIt0wE2rE8H3RRcVKLA848r

Please let me know the ones I have missed, as I know there would be some

Hopefully we can build this to be a great location of the best LFS movies, but can only be done with you all help

Quote from GreyBull [CHA] :As senieka said, we're in 2014, it's pretty easy for virtually anyone to get his/her personal YouTube account and upload stuff by him/herself.

What about a playlist though? Makes more sense IMO. Most LFS videos ever released to the public are already uploaded to YouTube, no need to upload them a second time.

I agree, I was just offering for people that don't / can't upload to Youtube.

Playlist, hmm, good idea, will look in to that

Quote from Matrixi :If you're not willing to put in £130 (under £100 used) for a GPU I'd say don't bother at all until you upgrade the whole rig. Then again, that GTX 660 would serve you fine even if you upgraded the rest and kept that GPU for the new machine.

Sure there's stuff like the GTX 750 which is a few tenners cheaper, but just look at how much (theoretical) performance you lose: http://www.hwcompare.com/17116 ... x-660-vs-geforce-gtx-750/

WOW thanks for that Matrixi, that is a big difference, see what you mean

Wildstyle and Matrix....I am Married with kids, so there is a budget here, you made me laugh I was looking for the Min to get me by so to speak, not re-mortgage the house to improve my FPS HA HA HA

PMD over £130 for a gfx card to get me by, seriously.....there must be something cheaper that will work with AC...as a standard FPS rate?

Sorry for the questions, I am just so out of touch now with Overclocking / GFX cards etc etc

Cheers

Quote from Bose321 :Try out the tech preview?

I tried that Bose, and its a defo a no go on my current GFX setup, 9-12 fps all low setting, hence why I haven't purchased the Early Release version....

PMD9409, Tyrone Johnson, Matrixi, wildstyle, thank you all for your advice, I will see if any of these are available on ebay.

I suspect I will need a major PC upgrade in 18months - 2yrs, so just wanted something to tie me over in the mean time

Hi Experienced AC racers.

I just wanted to ask you all a question. I would like to purchase a GFX card, so I could give this a try, but need to know...

Min Specs are AMD Radeon HD 6450, Nvidia GeForce GT 460. What could I realistically acheive with this? / settings / FPS

I am not bothered if I have to upgrade again in 2yrs time for example, would just like to purchase something to "get me by for now"

CPU and Mem are not an issue

Thanks for the help

Thank you Racer X and Kristi as you answered my question, as in "what else is out there"?

So RBR sounds interesting, will have to find that one.

The ones I listed, was the ones that I have tried and tested on my "ancient" PC as some people put it.

I am not using any excuse's, or being a fanboy as you put it, if you read the entire post properly, I was asking others / your opinions of what else is out there apart from the ones I listed and could potentially run on an older PC, PC isn't that old tbf, its just underpowerd GFX Card and not bothered about running triple monitors, just a novelty for LFS.

@lfsrm - I know I need to, but regarding the three monitors, I was given them. Yep all these, same make and model as they was going to be recycled. Its part of my job

@Kars19 - Thanks for that, will look around for a gtx780 or equivalent.

Thanks for the links Wenom, I have all them already including and the P&G Mod. Great fun for offline, but I personally prefer Online.

Thanks again

AC I see the potential, I really do, but for us low spec PC's users we need to upgrade to see this potential, thus include's most cost to us...the users, the players, the gamers.

I have heard from good friends of mine, AC is great, but £29.99 for a sim that is purley hotlapping ( at the moment I know ) surely is not justified, when you need to spend ( and quote me if I am wrong ) £60-100 to have a gfx card to run it?

This is where I am going, please somebody, come here and say, you need this GFX card to run this, this and this, and this is how much it will cost you, as I bet a top dollar, loads of people are asking the same questions.

Me personally, I love online sim racing, and racing with friends, but when the £ or $ signs start to appear, I need to or want to know, how much will it cost me.

LFS for example, I know will run on my current PC with three monitors and S3 will cost me £12 ( actually it will cost me nothing as I added £12 to my account all those years ago ) for S3. I have tried I-racing ( got a free 3 month trial, and gfx failed ) I tried AC Tech Demo, again failed, and RF2, due to my gfx setup, so cost effective, is LFS really that bad a buy?

Quote from CodeLyoko1 :read it again: 44 is + 1 year subscription. the subscription is as said in that pic: 12 a year. dollars that is

But that's still $43 that take off you at first, then $12 per year after that?

Whether is includes a year subscription, it neither here or there, $43 -12 = $31 for what...an online service and upgrades, that general people do anyway as most Mods in Rfactor are free anyway, so what are you "really" paying for?

Quote from CodeLyoko1 :rfactor 2: either 35 euro's + 10 euro's (for online) year, or one time 65 euro's

My comment was taken straight off the RF2 website..

When purchasing rFactor2, you will be given two options. Both are the same product, they simply have different pricing structures and one has limitations on online services. Online services include all multiplayer racing, and some features which make updating easier.

Quote from sinbad :£24 for S2, and even with AC in its current state unless you have an ancient computer and no intention to upgrade, it is probably more worth a punt than LFS. Although I'd advise anybody with the slightest interest in sim-racing to have an S2 license, no matter what else they want to play.

That would be my PC Sinbad ROFL. My Mem is OK, solid state drive, and CPU is cool to go, but my GFX card is good enough for LFS with triple monitors at 40fps, but even single screen on AC Tech Demo, I go 12fps max, all turned down. This is why I was asking

In true Fordie style, I post the following to you all, and would like you opinion??

We are all obviously waiting for S3 ( no shit sherlock I hear you cry ) but what is really available out there, come on tell me, please do. This is not a "fanboy" thread, but see what you all think:

AC - Early release, £29.99 for a hot lapping game ( at the moment I know ) and need high end GFX card to make it worth while, so expense needed.

PCars - Not available as yet to the General Public

RFactor 1 - Still £19.99 and you have to download so much to get involved in the online sim environment ( just done it )

RFactor 2 - $43.99 per year, and there is a try before you buy, but again, need GFX card to get the FPS to race, again another expense needed

LFS - £12 for S2 and another £12 for S3. No other expense required at present and for the foreseeable future.

I-Racing - $49.50 for a year or $6 per month, again, another expenditure.

So come on people, tell me, and the world what else is available at the moment as in Racing Sims, not First Person, or anything else, but just shear online Sim racing that doesn't include another expenditure....

Whats the point of this thread, well, on here, the LFS forum people go on about I-Racing this, and AC that, but Value for money and physics ( as that is what Sim racing is all about really, non of this Boom effect etc etc), I still think LFS tops the lot but as I like just Sim racing in General, and a friendly bunch of people racing, I just wanted to find out the general consensus here

Cheers

The only thing I will say is, the "new" tracks are not affected by the physics, so why hold back on some new content.

Get the Tracks out, updated cockpits what ever, and leave the physics and cars for S3.

But an answer to the original OP...We all Do

Quote from jmeade :Assetto Corsa is the latest and greatest, ...it is still in development but is available through Steam Early Access

It has no multiplayer yet however

If you want to pay £29.99 for Hotlapping then yeah I agree.

I wish people would stop with the LFS is Dead bla bla bla. Its at a lull at the moment and has been for a while, but cargame ( and I don't understand your comments considering your server) is practically full every night and offer different cars/configs each day, but yeah again I agree "while" we wait for more development to take place and be released, its as simple as that.

Can I just ask this for everybody that uses AC.

I could not run the Tech Demo above 15fps, with everything turned down. What chance have I got on running AC? The problem is I don't want to pay £30 to find out it is non playable?

Here is my specs

Windows 7 64 Bit
I3 3.30ghz
8GB Ram
Nvidia GF 120
Intel HD GFX ( using this for third screen )
1TB SATA drive

I didn't have third screen for Tech Demo, and it still didn't run above 15fps

Could it just be down to the acoustics of the exhaust, or are these regulated in V8 series?

I would love the V8's to come over here just for one race, that would be awesome

Don't fancy paying £,0000's just to travel to Aussie just to watch a V8 Race, think the wife might have something to say about that
