All this Sim Talk..Lets get going LOL
In true Fordie style, I post the following to you all, and would like you opinion??

We are all obviously waiting for S3 ( no shit sherlock I hear you cry ) but what is really available out there, come on tell me, please do. This is not a "fanboy" thread, but see what you all think:

AC - Early release, £29.99 for a hot lapping game ( at the moment I know ) and need high end GFX card to make it worth while, so expense needed.

PCars - Not available as yet to the General Public

RFactor 1 - Still £19.99 and you have to download so much to get involved in the online sim environment ( just done it )

RFactor 2 - $43.99 per year, and there is a try before you buy, but again, need GFX card to get the FPS to race, again another expense needed

LFS - £12 for S2 and another £12 for S3. No other expense required at present and for the foreseeable future.

I-Racing - $49.50 for a year or $6 per month, again, another expenditure.

So come on people, tell me, and the world what else is available at the moment as in Racing Sims, not First Person, or anything else, but just shear online Sim racing that doesn't include another expenditure....

Whats the point of this thread, well, on here, the LFS forum people go on about I-Racing this, and AC that, but Value for money and physics ( as that is what Sim racing is all about really, non of this Boom effect etc etc), I still think LFS tops the lot but as I like just Sim racing in General, and a friendly bunch of people racing, I just wanted to find out the general consensus here

Cheers

£24 for S2, and even with AC in its current state unless you have an ancient computer and no intention to upgrade, it is probably more worth a punt than LFS. Although I'd advise anybody with the slightest interest in sim-racing to have an S2 license, no matter what else they want to play.

rfactor 2: either 35 euro's + 10 euro's (for online) year, or one time 65 euro's

That would be my PC Sinbad ROFL. My Mem is OK, solid state drive, and CPU is cool to go, but my GFX card is good enough for LFS with triple monitors at 40fps, but even single screen on AC Tech Demo, I go 12fps max, all turned down. This is why I was asking

My comment was taken straight off the RF2 website..

When purchasing rFactor2, you will be given two options. Both are the same product, they simply have different pricing structures and one has limitations on online services. Online services include all multiplayer racing, and some features which make updating easier.

read it again: 44 is + 1 year subscription. the subscription is as said in that pic: 12 a year. dollars that is

But that's still $43 that take off you at first, then $12 per year after that?

Whether is includes a year subscription, it neither here or there, $43 -12 = $31 for what...an online service and upgrades, that general people do anyway as most Mods in Rfactor are free anyway, so what are you "really" paying for?

AC I see the potential, I really do, but for us low spec PC's users we need to upgrade to see this potential, thus include's most cost to us...the users, the players, the gamers.

I have heard from good friends of mine, AC is great, but £29.99 for a sim that is purley hotlapping ( at the moment I know ) surely is not justified, when you need to spend ( and quote me if I am wrong ) £60-100 to have a gfx card to run it?

This is where I am going, please somebody, come here and say, you need this GFX card to run this, this and this, and this is how much it will cost you, as I bet a top dollar, loads of people are asking the same questions.

Me personally, I love online sim racing, and racing with friends, but when the £ or $ signs start to appear, I need to or want to know, how much will it cost me.

LFS for example, I know will run on my current PC with three monitors and S3 will cost me £12 ( actually it will cost me nothing as I added £12 to my account all those years ago ) for S3. I have tried I-racing ( got a free 3 month trial, and gfx failed ) I tried AC Tech Demo, again failed, and RF2, due to my gfx setup, so cost effective, is LFS really that bad a buy?

if you take that subscription yes. if you take the other payment, no subscription.

you are mistaking rF1 for rF2 now. rF2 does have a lot more content (ISI official) than rF1 (19 cars and 11 tracks AT THIS MOMENT).

summary from the features that everyone also wants in lfs, but doesn't get them, because development.

-rain (dry/wet conversion as well)
-day/night cycle
-dynamic track (grip etc)
-real tracks

There is nothing wrong with it, i can run the game on a rubbish old laptop with only on board pc graphics and crap ram so don't use that excuse.

you need at least gtx780 if you want to run AC with triples
its just a matter of time, you will be in obligation to change your GFX one day, in this world you can't have the butter and the money from (selling) the butter like we said in french, and 3 screen with old pc is just rediculous for gaming you should have to buy first a decent GFX then invested on multi screen .

atm if you can't spend too much money, a used GFX are the best option for you with single screen ofc, or stay with LFS and waiting.

and about sim AC is the best you can find for their price, absolutely stunning game .

sorry for my english!
You really lightened it out that it is not a fanboy topic yet you are still doing the fanboy thing. You are talking about GFX card as an expense chained to the simulator. You need a GFX card to run any games on your PC. You buy it and you'll be able to run more than just Assetto Corsa for example... There are far better points to rant on than LFS running on 10 year old PCs and well, AC ran almost fine on my 7 year old PC, but I needed an upgrade anyway.

As others said rF2 has official content, official servers and actual developer support for that money. It's constantly developing at a slow rate, but not as slow as LFS though...

rF1 is still blasted with mods, ISI dropped it dead years ago so I'm not sure if it should be part of this topic when discussing sims cause I could talk about GPL and whatsoever here aswell.

iRacing is expensive indeed, but it gives, it really does... The computer requirements are pretty low so there should be no complaint about that, and the online service. Well, you really can't get better racing elsewhere at any point of the day. It's worth every penny for me currently, because it pushes my adrenaline to the point that I didn't feel in years.

Assetto Corsa, probably my favourite although I hate hotlapping. I can't wait for the multiplayer to pop up, it will be a blast for years on, especially with modding allowed.

There is GSC2013 to discuss aswell, can't really comment on that though.
Useless topic really, just sack up and buy a graphics card. You won't regret it.
Don't see the point of this topic. A guy who has an ancient pc complains about new-technology simulators that can't handle his pc, so it makes him to make this thread.
Ok, RSRBR, older game, no real requirements so works well on lower spec PC's, HUGE community support. Excluding RWD, some of the best pysics. IMHO, a pointer to what LFS could be if community input was welcomed..........

Power and Glory, Physics are hmmmm, but lot's of fun with great older cars, again, community work, interesting, could this be a trend ????..... But you can run several versions of Rockwell, lot's of different Bathurst varients, it's a modders dream for tracks.

AC, the current pick, if you run a gaming box then this will run, maybe not on highest settings but if you can run Crysis, you can run this. My pick, and you can add tracks ( IS ANYONE LISTENING ??? )

LFS, need I say more ?, If the community could mod tracks, then it would be right up with RSRBR, graphic's are so-so but physics, even without an update, would be good/very good.

In my opinion, AC really is worth upgrading your PC for, a 3 year old PC with a midrange graphic's card runs it well. ( Mine is older, and still run's it well )

These.

LFS sure has generated some funny people who presume they can run anything on a museum piece computer just because LFS runs on it. You can get INSANE performance even from cheap graphics cards these days, a used GTX 660 is like 100€ and it's more than enough for AC, atleast on a single screen.

It's not like modern cars are still using a hand crank to start because someone didn't want to pay a bit more for an ignition key.
Some people like to stick in 2006 forever, which is fine.

It's 2014 now, if you cannot keep up, too bad... Train travels on.

What cpu, power supply and mobo do u have? If you have some littlebit older cpu it will bottleneck good graphic card quite much. Especially when MP comes good cpu is very important, I think even more important than GPU. Also you might need to change your power supply if its very small and old.
Thank you Racer X and Kristi as you answered my question, as in "what else is out there"?

So RBR sounds interesting, will have to find that one.

The ones I listed, was the ones that I have tried and tested on my "ancient" PC as some people put it.

I am not using any excuse's, or being a fanboy as you put it, if you read the entire post properly, I was asking others / your opinions of what else is out there apart from the ones I listed and could potentially run on an older PC, PC isn't that old tbf, its just underpowerd GFX Card and not bothered about running triple monitors, just a novelty for LFS.

@lfsrm - I know I need to, but regarding the three monitors, I was given them. Yep all these, same make and model as they was going to be recycled. Its part of my job

@Kars19 - Thanks for that, will look around for a gtx780 or equivalent.

Thanks for the links Wenom, I have all them already including and the P&G Mod. Great fun for offline, but I personally prefer Online.

Thanks again

Fordie
AC definately, it's the first proper sim that can be considered as the next step from LFS imo.. it has everything a sim racer would need, well, until we see the multiplayer that is..
Racer
I only have driven it once, but it felt pretty good (in a 170K euro's simulator). I will try it out soon again.

also, it's free

Power & Glory (GTR2 mod) is currently my fav sim. I think the physics are good actually, it's just a bit like rF too, you need to know how to setup it to get all the potential out of it.
I'm currently driving on the Gamers Crib (http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/index.php) PnGv3.1 league and it's probably the most fun of online racing I've yet had.

AC will probably take this place at some point, but it's just beta still.

RBR is the best and only rally sim out there. I myself don't like the RSRBR mod tho, the interface is just weird and it has a lot of content that doesn't seem like it's ready for publishing. The physics are a little funky too.

You can have very good mods for RBR, but I think all the good ones are standalone really. My favorite thing in RBR is to take the mk2 BDA Escort to Ouninpohja stage (yes you can have good RWD physics in RBR). And the RBR Real Physics Team's physic hack has revolutionized the way RBR does 4wd physics. The problem with RBR seems to be that the modding community is very scattered and you have to pretty much know what you are searching for. I myself only use a one Finnish forum (http://www.virtualmotorsports.org) that is pretty much the only one that can offer what I want for this sim (huge selection of Finnish gravel stages).
Maybe you should try Game Stock Car 2013 (GSC 2013).

Despite it's misleading name you'll not drive around in ovals there! In this simulation the term "stock car" refers to a brazilian touring car cup comparable to the Aussies' V8 Supercars. And these are. A. Blast!

There are Formula cars as well: a 70s F1 series called "Formula Retro", a late 80s/early 90s F1 series called "Formula Classic", a contemporary F1 car ("Formula Reiza", called after the producing company) and a F3 car.

Not to forget: There are karts and several circuits specially designed for these as well. And a stock Chevrolet Camaro. And a classic Chevrolet stock car. And the MINI challenge. And there will be free content to be added in the future!

What I really like - no, love!!! - about this title is the sound! Roaring along in said stock cars will give you the chills! Tyre sounds seem to be spot on, too, which makes it quite dramatic if you have understeer.

And because in principle it's rF1 with physics and AI maxed out, it will probably run on your system as well. Give it a try! You can download and try it 60 minutes for free!
Cheers guys will give them a look.

@BigPeBe - P&G - Is there online practice server's that I could join in and try?

Regards
