Quote from Breizh :Yeah, I meant the real RAC is turboed.

250 bhp/l isn't possible unless you're in Formula 1. Of course it is "possible" but you'd have a huge difference in BHP and torque, which would be unrealistic.
Besides, the RA doens't weigh that much, so in theory it could qualify as some kind of a Lotus Elise GTR, with less power than the big guns.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I'm thinking it's Saturday, day of rest and all that. No update today.

It's not exactly a huge job to update a website with some pictures and some text (that's probably already written).

I really don't think the guys are gonna keep updating like this for more than 7-10 days. I know it's a big patch, but it's quite limited how many new features they can keep revealing.

Quote from JJ72 :I know it's hard to show tire physics improvement by screenshots, however showing these extremely low pressure tire might just be distracting.

would like to hear more specificly what changes are actually made as well, though most of us won't understand but reading this just leave us wondering.

I just want to feel the difference and ride the winds of change (:P)

Quote from Matrixi :I think it reads "Turbo" and "Falcon RZ".

With the eyes of an eagle! or whatever..

I wonder if the company "GRIPTRAXX" will be involved in some tyre-making thingie-dingie?

Quote from danowat :I hope its just the way I am reading it, I hope the tyre model isnt being "dumbed down" to make handling easier and "more fun"

Dan,

It's just being updated to be far more realistic. The tyres in the current version of S2 don't have quite the grip that real tyres would have. So yes, the handling will be easier and the power/grip ratio way better, but it's all in the name of realism, not arcadeism.

Quote from Hyperactive :Probably they have just put little less air into them to make the tire flex more visible...?

Yeah, that's a good possibility. I was getting worried when I saw the rear tyre of the GTI almost going off the rim.

Quote from Killernap :wow notice the pic where the FXR is! what track is it? must be aston but those tires there are new!

I think they have updated some parts of the different tracks to give you more run-off areas than sandboxes or grass - which is a good think

The big question now is, do they tyres "deform" too much?

If you compare the cars in LFS to the ones they are supposed to be in real life, only some of the GT cars will have ABS (and maybe TC), but none of the heavy artillery will have any of the above.
Also, tyre punctures are possible, it's just not common in race because the only way it can happen is if the tyre gets worn enough. Right now we don't have stuff like dust, rocks and other particles affecting the tyre behaviour, although I would like to see it in the future.
I completely agree about the black flag.
GTR engine cut during pit-stop

After looking in Hyperactives "Suggested improvements log", I was surprised to see that no one had suggested a forced engine cut for the GTR cars during refueling, since that how it is in real life.
Of course, the ignition button should be bindable, so you wouldn't have to stretch to the keyboard and hit I every time. And of course, if you're just changing tyres, repairing damage or whatever, you wouldn't need to cut the engine. Only during refueling, and only in the GTR cars.
Another thing I'd like to see in the GTR cars (and the Formula cars too) is a little mini-screen, like the MoTeC screens you see in SimBin's GTR.
For the more normal GT cars, you could have smaller timers, like the ones in GT Legends. It should show you lap-times, splits etc., but you should also be able to configure your next pit-stop on the screen, and maybe brake bias too.

Anyway, my ideas on how to add more realism to the sim Oh and yes, center those window wipers, instead of letting them disrupt airflow on one side of the car.

Quote from neRu :Well, you cant since its tweaked. But try to tweak yourself with only the specs i have given you.

Then you exit pits, wait, and the car settles. Then drive around alot, and make some wheelspin. Remember to monitor tiretemps. Suddenly it drops. There is a hole shitbucket of grip in those tires.

It's true mate. Just tried it out. Gave the car 18000+ BHP, and it didn't make any wheelspin when I floored the throttle... to 11 kph.
Think about the fun you could have with this if the limit wasn't there Nice find though

Quote from sgt.flippy :Are you using the Logitech profiler? It helps alot, and see if your wheel is actually set to 900°, cause both lights should be on. And on the computer the lights have nothing to do with force feedback, not even on playstation, it just tells you if it's in 200° or 900°.

When you got your DFP set to 900°, don't forget to let the game know it! Every time I mess up my controls, I need to turn my wheel in both direction completely, otherwise LFS thinks it only has 200°.

As far as I know it's 100% compatible with computers, Logitech just doesn't puts it under their garantee.

Thought it'd be a good idea to link to the WingMan Logitech Profiler, since it's not exactly easy to find

That LFS pic is pretty unbelievable. :hyper:

Yeah, saw it a couple of days ago in the BHM forums. It's really the best rain-edit I have EVER come across!
I was thinking about posting it here, but since it's not mine and I have no way of contacting this "FolkWaltz!" guy, figured it'd be a bad idea. Anyways, f00king amazing picture that one :lovies3d:

I think you're right. It should give a bit better balance (and that's something the FZR could use ).

Quote from Daedelus :RA= Raceabout, the convertible that likes to spazz out and kill small children. I've managed one lap with it before it's decided that it doesn't like me. As far as I can tell, it's the worst mannered car in LFS. The LX6 comes a close second but it's ok if you're a bit careful on the throttle.

Peter

At least it's easy to correct the oversteer in the LX6.. I find that very hard in the RA! But yeah, do as Tweak said, post your spr

Quote from Forbin :Try lower tire pressures. At least in S1, tires with high pressure produced very little smoke, while tires with low pressure produced a lot.

Also, you may want to try driving properly. I personally find it much more rewarding and it's what the sim is designed for. There's nothing quite like sticking that line perfectly, right on the edge of traction, with maximum lateral acceleration, and doing that repeatedly.

He's right, y'know..

Quote from Shotglass :maybe your setting for dust lod (under options => graphics) is too low

If that was the case, he wouldn't be seeing more smoke in the replays than when he's driving

Quote from Shotglass :i guess recording 24 frames at .5 speed should be smooth enough for everyday viewing purposes

guess so ... got is from some guy on the finalgear forum so its most likely captain slow

Hehe, okay
Anywho, when I record at normal speed with fraps, the video gets all laggy and jumps a lot of frames and I know a lot of people that have the same problem. That's why it's better to record at half speed and then double the framerate afterwards
