What about IS_SCH?

struct IS_SCH // Single CHaracter - send to simulate single character
{
byte Size; // 8
byte Type; // ISP_SCH
byte ReqI; // 0
byte Zero;

byte CharB; // key to press
byte Flags; // bit 0 : SHIFT / bit 1 : CTRL
byte Spare2;
byte Spare3;
};

Should simulate a gear change in LFS, if you know the button it's mapped to. Unless I'm reading IS_SCH wrong

Look, can both sides ever stop shit stirring, and just leave each other alone? Racers, you cannot "convert" a cruiser into a racer, stop trying to do so. You might have strong opinions about the lack of racers, but shutting down cruise servers would cause an influx of angry cruisers on the forums, wondering why they can't enjoy the game as much as anyone else. They paid for the game, they can do whatever the hell they want with it as far as I'm concerned, so long as it doesn't impact on the experience of anyone else. Which it doesn't, they're out of anyone's way on their own servers. It's not like they're setting up recruitment campaigns to entice racers onto their servers, from my experience they keep much to themselves.

I see nothing wrong with this thread's original intentions, there are plenty of ads for new race servers in this forum (and not even new ones, some are just to declare that there's been a track change, or a car class change) and there's no hassle. What's the problem here? Somebody has decided they want to setup a new cruise server, and needs somewhere to tell cruisers about it. What better place than the LFS forums? The mods and the devs don't seem to have a problem with it (60 posts, and counting, no lock), why should you? If you want new racers, setup something as innovative and fun as cruisers think new cruise servers are.

I will agree though that cruisers often play the sympathy card far too often, and request ridiculous things. They need to learn that at the end of the day, this is a racing sim. While the developers have no problem with what you do, they are not here to cater for your needs. They are here to develop their dream of a racing sim, not to cater for any group or individual. While they sometimes listen to improvement suggestions here, usually it needs to be pretty close to what they want if it makes it into the sim. If the devs are allowing cruise servers, obviously they have no issues with them. That's their choice, and nobody can decide they "should" be doing otherwise. Same goes for demo users, the devs have no issues with providing a free, restricted content demo service, and as such, nobody should try and take matters into their own hands.

Basically what I'm saying is, both sides need to cop on. At the end of the day, you're fighting over a computer game. In the words of Sir Alan Partridge, that's "saaaaaaad".

It's easy enough to keep them going. Just pretend to be about to send whatever they're looking for. As long as they can see your money around the corner, they'll do anything for you (I've got some potential epic baits at the moment, I started back into it last week. I'll post it here if it goes as well as planned)

Hopefully the FFB won't start to act weird, else your baby will be airborne
"Houston, we have a liftoff"

1. Attach baby to wheel.
2. Join a cruise server.
3. Aim for red'n'white barrier.
4. ???
5. Profit?

Tell them how you adopted 17 Malawians, and run a day-care for refugee children. Or you could say "Is it, coz I is white?"

Quote from trebor901 :get some of them stupid rubber things old cars have hanging off the rear bumper to help ground it lol

Don't do it! They are owned exclusively by knobs, sunday drivers, and the elderly. Either be a man and take it, or close your door by the handle

There's no shortage of XFG/XRG BL1 around TBH, considering that's pretty much all demo servers can run, except FBM.

Am I missing something, or can REOs not be sent? REO is available to send as a TINY, but then you can't send the new grid PLID array. Should there be InSim.Send_REO_RaceStartOrder or similar, or am I doing it wrong?

There's an option in the LFS shop to buy a license for someone else. When she buys the voucher, it'll give her a code. Then just add that code into your own account, and welcome to S2

Also, I've heard that certain rootkits can stay on your HDD even after a format. I've no idea how true that is or not, but that could also be it

It isn't the internet infecting you that quick, even with SP1. A connection must be initiated by you, spyware and malware doesn't just "find" you within 3 minutes. It must be an infection on your HDD or memory card doing it. It only takes one to open up a security hole (which there must be hundreds of on SP1 by now) to let the rest in.

There isn't much you can do without having another, clean PC to hand to download all your necessary updates and security, if you're getting infected that quick. Even SP3 won't help if the infection is still there on a disk.

Out of curiosity, I'm going to throw SP1 into a VM and see how quick I can get it infected. I tried that when Windows 7 came out first and it was near-indestructible

Hit it with a blunt object. That got mine working long enough to get what I needed off of it after it died I recommend using a hurley, worked for me

There isn't much else you can do, unless you're an electronic engineer that can dismantle it, assess what's fryed, and replace it. I presume you've tried on more than one PC (and by using GParted, you've used more than one OS), and if it still doesn't show, it's not a driver/software problem, meaning it's properly borked. Hammer time

The console versions have separate patches (because they work perfect for 100% of owners and don't need to have 60% of objects removed to be playable). I know that the PS3 one was to fix a bug with saving online stats. Sometimes you'd logon and it'd be reset There was for the PS3 not so long ago also, I'm not sure what it did though. I do know that I still have just as many objects though

Quote from count.bazley :Technically the game is free and we pay for the cars and tracks (and a few features such as skin storage). If and when S3 comes along we don't have to pay to get it (unless they decide to change the way they do business), we just have to pay to get the new content it brings.

That's a good point, especially when you consider the demo is the full "game", just with reduced content

I'd like to see LFS wrapped up before it goes final (the few remaining bugs sorted, the things Scawen said he would work on for the Beta), but after that I wouldn't mind if no more work was done. Even now, considering I've gotten 3 years out of LFS, I feel my £24 has been more than justified. Contrast that against spending €50-70 on new PC games, that you'll get maybe a few weeks out of at best, and LFS is pretty damn good value

Quote from pb32000 :No but can't they just request the host to remove it. The hosting company will listen to cencorship laws over you. If indeed that's what the problem is.

Hmm...In that case, I'll have to fund my own dedicated box over in Oz, hidden deep underground. That'll show 'em

Anybody know where this blacklist is? I want to create a page with a link to ALL of those sites, just to show that some people really couldn't give a toss about stupid poxy fake rules (Even if I host it on an Australian server, they can't come after me. International (lack-of) relations FTW)

The gearbox of any car/tractor/bicycle will pull anything for you. The clutch will give out long before the gearbox does

Nobody's being personal here (at least, I'm not. I can't speak for others...), you're just being a pillock by claiming that a BMW-engined range rover is necessary to pull another car, which is complete nonsense

Also, that's not a law. It's a guideline. It's also more around the 85% mark. What is the law though, is that the trailer's weight cannot exceed the car's manufacturer's towing limit. (And btw, the Audi doesn't need to weigh 2T in your example. It needs to weigh 1200kg )
