Quote from Slartibartfast :Dadnabbit. I missed the beta. I looked at the ms site but can't figure out when it releases. Anyone know?

Word on the street is a late September, early October release.

Quote from Dorikat :Drift is a motor sport, deal with it, its here and its now.

Motorsport - debatable. (I don't know of any super-uber-international motorsport catalogue, so each to their own opinion...) Here and now - nope. It was, say 5 years ago. Back then (in LFS at least) it was cool to drift. Now it isn't (one look at this thread will confirm that).

Quote from Dorikat :Great suggestion, theres cruise (not raceing) so why not drift?

There is racing. It's called a racing sim

I had that a few times on my old old old PC (~200MB free HDD space) and disabled auto-replay storage. That fixed it for me (Although I see HDD space isn't your problem). It's not test patch specific though

Quote from Racer325 :Then click the url and the picture loads up?

instead of people quoteing large images, turn that off and they would be quoting links to the picture, if you wanna see the picture you would click on the links?

and i missing somthingg :P

Exactly what I do. If I want to view something, I'll know what it is, and I can just click on it to open. Must have saved me gigs of bandwidth over the years

I have view images disabled by default. Makes it much handier to navigate, especially when BMPs and 90000x90000 pictures are involved.

Otherwise, I think quoted pictures should be allowed, but they should be automatically resized to, say, 500x500. That way they actually fit in the quote box

We have these PCs in our IT lab in school, that was built at least 6 years ago (I've been here 6 years and they were there when I joined). They are terrible at even normal everyday tasks, I wouldn't expect much from them in any game TBH (Now the CAD lab is another story, 30x XPS 640's )

All you can do is turn everything down to the lowest (don't worry about AA/AF, I don't think the onboards chip in them supports it), and play in 800x600. It won't be pretty, and you won't have massive frame rates. But it should be playable then There isn't really anything else you can do apart from add more RAM, which should help a bit (onboards GFX + low RAM = fail). Changing the CPU might be an option if you found a cheap replacement. P4s are good for 3.0Ghz-ish on those sockets I think, so it's an option at least

I remember a thread on boards.ie ages ago about some girl with "twincamxxxs14xxx16v" or something ridiculous as a username trying to challenge the entire forum to a street race. Needless to say, some lads with serious cars eventually shut her up Was quite funny while it lasted though, claiming that the entire forum was scared of a girl.

OP, I wouldn't worry about it. If it was actually serious, do you think they would send PMs to random profiles on facebook? You could be anyone, a cop or whatever. Even a street racer wouldn't be that thick

Quote from 5haz :Found out lately that holding SHIFT down and typing gives you capitals, now I know why Caps Lock is called Caps Lock.

So you mean that since you started using a PC you used Caps Lock to capitalise words?

I see...So it would actually fit into the "useless" category of rice parts? Fire away then, apologies (For the record, everything in my car except the hubcaps are standard. And they were nicked off a higher-spec version )

But it isn't rice as such. Ricing isn't supposed to make sense or enhance performance (purposefully at least). Besides, you could buy a nice shiny hole saw for half the price of an air filter, drill a few holes through the exhaust system, and "feel" like you're going faster

Quote from senn :Get some performance tyres (i have toyo Proxes PX4, cost me about $145 a corner for 205/50/R15)

A K&N filter, one that fits in the stock position is good, if u have CAI, it retains it, less noticable to police etc, plus u can re use it with the cleaning kit.

Thats pretty much the cheapest stuff i can think of..run better fuel in it always helps..

Maybe some shockproof gear oil *shrug*

Sway bars are also a reasonably cheap option, at about $150 an end, if you fit them yourself..

Is there a performance model that has a strut brace? or other parts you can pilfer cheaply?

Also, maybe some better brake and clutch fluid, dot4 or higher, better pads help with pedal feel, and a bit with fade...

The thread title is "Let's Rice Ma Car", not "Let's Race-Prep Ma Car". If you're looking for cheap rice, stick a bigger spoiler, plastic window tints and 18" alloys on it. Also drill a few holes into the backbox for extra effect. Job done, insurance intact, for the sum of about £500 /thread

You could also use the TimeSpan method to convert MS into Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Milliseconds. No examples to hand unfortunately, but it's well documented on t'internets

Tudor Rose is excellent fun in XFG or MRT (IIRC that's the figure-8 one. Either that or Champagne, both are excellent).

I don't mean there's anything wrong with having an old card (Hell, my last card was the 9800 PRO :shrug, but a card that old can't be blamed for giving up the ghost. (Having said that, my 9800 is still going strong after 6 and a half years As in, Crysis strong )

It's a 6 year old card, what do you expect TBH LFS didn't cause it, it's just an old card.

OH GOD YES

Also the one (name escapes me right now...) that's on BL3, it has 2 jumps, it's a right hairpin from the start, a left hairpin into a jump, over another jump, right turn, chicane, and a long right to finish. CTRA had it on TBO, RB4 and XRG

I take it you've never seen my in-game rFactor username then? (LFS_FTW, or something similar, can't actually remember the last time I went online in rF)

TM is a bit cartoony to be attracting serious sim racers I think. rFactor or iRacing would be a "lesser waste of time", but then I'm sure 90% of those racers have heard of LFS already (Google "online racing simulator" and a little sim called LFS is hit no. 1 ) .
