That is definately NOT normal and you should call them and tell them what happened, if they don't refund your money then you could convice them that it was dangerous and could have seriously burnt you or hurt the computer. There is no way a ?USB stick? should get that hot, must have been messed up inside and was programmed to recieve all the power available by accident?

Nevermind, the fill rate is almost double aswell, 7600GS is better aswell because it has 12 pipelines, as opposed to 8 for the 6800XT and the memory is DDR2 so that shouldn't be used as a comparison point.

Can you get Dell in England? (I know everyone is going to flame me for this) I have 2 Dells and am getting my third, I have not had any problems with them that were not of my fault (viruses etc.). Just ordered a prebuilt Athlon x2 4600+ with keyboard, mouse, everything but monitor, and integrated graphics [PCIe] (soon to be replaced by maybe a mid 8xxx series when they come out) and 1GB of ram for $550 (that's £275?). With a good graphics card (7600GT for $130?), you could play most modern games maxed out easily with good fps.

Obviously you would be better off building your own but this is great for anyone who doesn't know how or is afraid of messing it up. I am only 15 as well so convincing my parents to let me build one was/is out of the question :P.

I have crappy dell speakers but I wouldn't recommend buying directly from the manufacturer, I have found prices for Logitech products for less than half their store price illepall and they were brand new, and I have bought some and they work fine (2 DFP's)

[Important] Have you tried looking at how much cpu is being used while playing lfs? Like opening task manager and then go play for a couple minutes.

It shouldn't be hitting 100% or you might have a problem, maybe you have alot of processes running in the background.

Quote :Minimum sleep: You select time value. This setting forces LFS to sleep/wait the set amount of time between each frame, to allow Windows to update controller inputs, etc. Increase this value if you're having problems with controller stuttering/lag or similar. Don't put it too high, though, as it will limit your maximum framerate.

That would be why I recommended running HijackThis as we could shut down any unneeded processes to use his processor more efficiently, as the card seems more than able to handle anything thrown at it.

I sometimes go on demo when I am looking for an XFG race, and the only way to find out if someone is licensed is to ask them

In response to the above post, download and install LFS into a seperate folder, apply the same settings, and test that. After cleaning the drivers, and applying the new ones, and that still shows no improvement download HijackThis, run a scan and log, and upload the log here. I will review it and see if anything unneeded is running in the background.

Here is mine, anyone can use it as long as you give me credit for it and don't claim it as your own work .

It is already uploaded to lfsworld under that name if you are wondering. Also, Lfsnoob, I would love to see your skin when it is done as well, PM me when you finish it, I love using stock (or almost stock) looking car skins

It's a Subaru Impreza. I read the webpage the guy originally posted it on. He told the insurance company the truth and they covered the costs. It was at Limerock Raceway in Connecticut, 45 minutes from whereI live.
I have been there a few times where they race many different car classes. That corner is very tricky and had to have a chicane put up right past the top of that hill where he crashed for faster cars as a few people died driving over that hill and catching air back in the day, doing a few backflips before hitting the ground. There are some pictures of the crashes if you can find them.

The driver said he made a mistake by taking the corner in the wrong gear and then did not properly countersteer to keep the car under control.

Put Mirror LOD all the way up
Turn track LOD reduction off (though leaving it on gives better performance and not much quality loss as this renders objects not in view)
I prefer my mip bias at -4.00, look at some trees and adjust it to your liking.
Put shadow type to high res
Turn off use compressed skins

I would reccommend using driver cleaner to remove all of the ATI and Nvidia drivers and checking to make sure that your card is plugged into your power supply if needed. Then installing the latest drivers from nvidia.

Just a note for anyone experiencing crackling. Go into your audio options (in LFS) and change the car volume to 8, and everything else to 1.3. Don't know why this works but when you set car volume to 20 I get crackling aswell...

Ok that clears it up, didn't realize that Pentium D's were dual core :\

Is it running the newest patch? I am pretty sure Scawen will restart it soon once he sees it.

Anyone who IS having problems with framerates, post as much truthful information you know about your system (drivers, manufacturers, etc.) so we can get to the bottom of this. It seems this is only happening with old systems that seem to be gpu and/or cpu limited.

While going through the U Test patches I didn't see much change in FPS but that was with switching different modified graphics card drivers. Either way I didn't have any big jump either way in FPS.

6600GT (AGP)
1.8Ghz P4
512MB of Ram
Soundblaster Live!

Also, the people that are having problems could run EVEREST Home Edition (freeware), then they can create a report (a list of their computer specs) by clicking Report -> Quick Report -> All pages. Or they could run the report wizard as well, selecting certain items to report on. Then you can see if it's hardware or software related or neither.

I attached mine using the Report Wizard to include everything but Network and Benchmark as an example.

EDIT: Here is a link to the .htm, alot cleaner and easier to read. http://dennisjr13.byethost32.com/report.htm

If you are only using one proccessor core and getting better fps than 2, shouldn't that mean that lfs is only taking advantage of one? illepall

And I didn't realize Pentium D's are dual core (according to the new system he posted as opposed to the old one). Correct me on this If I'm wrong as you guys are trying to help him utilize both of his cores.

Yes it's not possible at the moment as I have tried it too when i wanted to use the gas and clutch but only had 2 pedals. I couldn't set the brake to a button which kinda sucked, though this would be a good option. Who +1's this?
