Good to see you're both alright with only minor injuries. Car didn't look bad fromt he first shot, but even before seeing the second photo I had an idea of what had happened. Nice title
The only thing that can jump out here are roos which are also deadly, mostly in country areas at night. When travellign interstate you see a lot of them on the side of the road hit by trucks with their huge bull bars.
Forget the inferno set, it's way too oversteery for a beginner on the XRT especially a mouser. It doesn;t help your using the mouse because its hard to get on the throttle smoothly, you sorta have to tap it a few times before you can mash it down.
I've attached a replay of me driving using the mouse and the set I used when I was a demo racer using the mouse. I don't remember my PB but I just did a few laps and got a low 1.27 easily, so 1.25 shouldn't be a problem. It's a very stable and easy to drive set, and also doesn't lock up when you brake with the mouse.
Check the replay and you'll see what I mean by the throttle control required, you should shave a couple of seconds off in no time.
What's your budget? Most 19" are much of a muchness since they nearly all use ther same panels anyway. I'd recommend Samsung as they have great quality and are fairly priced. You won't find any moitors runnign 1024x768 anymore, they run 1280x1024 but u can always stretch your wallpaper to fit. Everything looks much better run at native res of the screen, running non native makes it look blurry and smudged except for games which can still look ok.
If you watch a lot of movies or TV on your pc then I'd recommend going for a 22" widescreen which are pretty cheap nowadays, otherwise somethihg like the Samsung 940N or B is nice.
Nice tool. Add this one to the collection of setup making help tools. You can zoom on the driving line pane by using the scroll wheel on your mouse. Is there any more info you can get from the setup such as tyre, camber and diff settings?
Sounds like you were driving a hotlap set and fried your tyres. You need a proper race set to use over long distances. Those inferno sets are lucky to last a 5 lap pickup race.
With low milage the best thing is to concentrate on one car you enjoy driving, so join a league that only uses that car for all races. This makes it easier to learn new tracks because you already know the car well enough and also easier when it comes to building your own sets.
You're going to have to like hotlapping because practice is the only way you're going to get quick at a track. Online races are fun but they don't really build speed quick enough. You'll also need to do a lot of laps to get a setup built that lasts more than 5 laps as most league races are longer than online races. The best way to hotlap is to create your own server, make it private and just drive. You'll be clocking up more miles on your licence which will make it easier when looking for a team to join or leagues are selective to who they let in.
You'll be limited by your availabilty so look for leagues that race on weekends and use a car you like. Remember most leagues use GMT and UTC time so you'll have to convert it to your local time zone to get local times. Good luck with your search.
Not enough laps on this track and no qual set put me 3rd in GT2. Start was pretty good and manged to keep up with the guys infront but met soem tyres on the track on lap 5 or so and had a big off damaging my suspension and had to pit. Race over from there, just hotlapping and trying to catch them but being over 30seconds behind wasn't helping. .
Locovich discoed, lfsn00b went to play in the sandpit and then there were only 2 of us left in GT2. Around an hour in, my pc decided it had enough and win32 processes crashed my sound card and lfs at the same time. I returned to lfs with no sound just to spectate because I can't drive without sound. Dismal race from me. I'm just happy I'm scoring some points atleast.
Not sure what happened with Scoop but I saw you in my mirror then you span. Sorry if I was in the way but I had nowhere to go and stuck to the outside of the track in that tight corner. The the second incident I tried to stick to the outside but got a bump and sent off the track. Apart from that the lapping wasn't as bad as I thought, although there weren't many GT3s on the track which made it easier
Love that track from Donnie Darko. Drifting is ok but the camera angles could be a bit better capturing more of the action and perhaps not being static. 5/10
On some cars cutting the chicane causes damage to the suspension or a very unstable car so you're better off not cutting. I don't see the problem with cutting because sometimes it can go wrong so it's a risk you can take.
Currently using a D-Link DI-624 wireless router. Ethernet is brilliant and uptime great but now after about 2 years it's getting a bit flaky at times and needs to be reset. Wireless has the extreme 108mbps speed but it's a bit limited in distance and you need proper hardware.
If I were to get somethign new I'd go for the Linksys WRT54GL you can load custom firmware on to add extra functions but then you'd need a dsl modem. You could get the WAG54G which has a modem built in.
Nice background picture used for the environment + HDRI map for the reflections and lighting and I suspect a directional brazil light for the hard shadow of the sun = realistic render.
