Most of the time I play LFS on my laptop computer. However, I have recently bought a 26" LCD monitor, which is now plugged into my laptop. I am using the DualView option my nVidia Go7300 (which means two independent screens/dekstops). I can watch movies on one screen (fullscreen) and do stuff on the other.

The problem is, that I don't know how to achieve this with LFS. I can have it windowed on the secondary screen, but I want it:
1) Fullscreen on the secondary monitor
2) Not in the native 1920x1200 resolution, because the GPU cannot handle that much (preferably 1280x800, which runs just fine on maxxed out details)

So, if any of you "triple-head" guys could give me some advice on this please, as I am a multi-sceen newbie, I will be very grateful.

I was wondering...are there any (even if unofficial) statistics about the number of crashers online? Or at least crasher incidents? I would like to see if the trend is increasing or not.

What you've proven is that hot tyres in LFS have less grip than cold tyres in LFS, but not that it's not realistic.
Next time, do a comparision with real-life cars in real-life conditions so that we can see what is realistic and what isn't.

I believe that the delay is rather a question of licensing and contract(s) between Scavier and Volkswagen. Maybe the car is finished, but cannot be released before something (iRacing release? fRactor official mod? no idea). In my opinion, that is also why the test patch has been released without the car, so that we can at least play with the rest.

I don't think that Scawen would be that "reckless" to announce a car without being sure that he can actually make it until his own deadline. More like it had something to do with some unexpected "outside interference" (VW possibly changing their mind about something?).

Maybe the devs are already working on S3 content, judging by their business model. Either they have some other primary source of income or they will need to milk the LFS franchise a little more...by releasing another "S" for which many (including me) will gladly pay.

Who knows, I am looking forward to seeing the conclusion to this. Oh and I'd like to remind you that these are all just opinions, so take them as such (I'm writing this at 3:40am so don't take them seriously at all )

Wow I really didn't expect this thread to go the way it does. After reading the title I thought that it would be full of Veyrons, Reventons and other hypercars. You guys are actually very modest, which I find positive

Now to my dream car. If I had the money, I'd buy a Bentley Brooklands Coupé. I like big luxury cars with huge, easy going, low revving, high torque engines. It also has some boot space, 4 seats and all the stuff to make your long trips comfortable.

I've never noticed that there is no doppler effect for the horn...maybe because I don't use it much and I don't watch replays much. It's a good suggestion anyway and I'm for it.

I guess I'll go for the one with XP. I'll chose a configuration that would be "upgradeable" in some ways (free RAM slot for example).

I think XP is still good enough for todays standards and for my friend's needs (Office, movies, internet) and he is familiar with it already. Windows 7 will be here soon, but I guess it would be better to still wait a few moths to shake things down a bit. Then, I'd tell him to upgrade it from that XP to 7, skpping Vista all the way. That's what I would do with my purchase.

I really can't put 7-beta on it because only God (as in Bill Gates) knows how long it will work before the real 7 comes out. Another thing is that my friend doesn't speak English. Where I'm buying, the XP notebooks are a bit cheaper then Vista notebooks...OR...at the same price, you get a better equipped notebook with XP than with Vista. So I'd go for the XP pre-installed one.

But will my friend be later able to buy 7 when it comes out and upgrade from XP without spending unnecessarily much money?

...and I still have to see which is cheaper: the no-OS notebooks with OS bought separately or the OS-equipped notebooks.

My friend has asked me to buy a notebook for him. That's no problem for me, but I am currently somewhat uncertain about the choice of an OS. Should I go for:

• a cheaper/faster/still popular/familiar Windows XP?
  
• Or should I go for the pretty/modern/bloated/slow Windows Vista?
  
• Should I wait for 7?
  

The notebook will be cheap, so I'm not sure about it's performance with Vista and the friend has never seen Vista (bummer).

Another thing: Should I buy a notebook without an OS and buy one separately or should I buy a notebook with a pre-installed OS (which is cheaper but probably won't be able to change later).

Last but not least - Linux is not an option, so please don't bother.

There are several options on that Czech site. You can just have the CD + fancy package mailed to you plus, if you choose the more expensive option, you will also get the license voucher code (e-)mailed to you too.

It's not illegal, it's just that why should I pay for a CD and then wait for it a couple of days, when I can just click the download button and have it for free in a few seconds.

On the other hand, this is quite useful for people who cannot or don't want to pay over the internet and prefer COD or bank transfer to an account in Czech Republic (which they might find less suspicious).

...and if I don't like playing somewhere, I go to another server. If many people would do that, then the more reasonable server-owners (or admins) would take action to eliminate such offensive behaviour. The only problem here is that people have absolutely nothing from running a server. If it was paid in some form (server exclusive track-side ads, for example), the owners would be much more motivated to maintain a certain level of gameplay there.
