My server still runs choppy/laggy with a lag every 5-15 seconds.

Cant really say that i miss someone in particilair...

I kinda miss the "atmosphere" and "lack of idiots on public servers" thing that was going on back then...

At that time you actually could go online on a drift server and find some really experienced and good drifters to do some twindrifting with. Now its a crashfest to say the least. When was the last time you saw a serious drifter in the RB4???

When was the last time you had a qeue that worked on a VS server??

And on race servers... when was the last time you actually started in the back and didnt get crashed out???

Quote from amp88 :There are a number of reasons I think this is a bad idea:
 • The current AI in LFS is very bad, so relying on it to drive the car until the player stops lagging is a recipe for disaster.
 • How would the speed of the ghost driver be chosen? Would the previous split times and/or laptimes be used? What about LFSW history with the given car/track? You can't have a "one speed fits all" solution because everyone's different.
 • How many mistakes should the ghost driver make? If the human guest driver it's replacing has spun on all of the previous laps should the ghost driver also spin?
 • Devoting time to improve the AI in order to implement this 'solution' is time wasted, IMO. It could be much better spent in improving other areas of the simulation and introducing new features.
Of course, I'm not saying the current situation is perfect (far from it), it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me to burn a lot of time attempting to cover up a user problem.

I think he meant that the car gets "ghost" so that you wont crash/fly when he lags... the player still controls the car, but it just makes it unable to destroy the race for everyone else...

I dont se how this is gonna be done to make it work in a good way..

Quote from Breizh :But could you keep up with a properly wheel-driven LX?

As i didnt crack my LFS i would know, i got the wheel a while before i decided to buy the game. And stuck with ever since.. i have tried the BF1 with mouse once and it was "do-able" thanks to antispin.

It really is for me. Keyboard is physically impossible, and my MOMO wheel (I don't know if it wasn't set up correctly with the game or what) the slightest throttle movement would send the car spinning even if you're trying to go in a straight line or driving conservatively. Of course, that was only a test patch.

I drove the LX cars, hell, even the FO8 with keyboard back in time, it was a challenge from hell but fun too. The key to kontroll that beast with keyboard is a propper setups, both car setup and keyboard setup.

But ultimatelig it's tapping frenzy on the trottle and turn buttons
Yeah i remember being quite sucessfull back in my demo-days when i didnt have a wheel. That was when XRT was a demo car still, and me and my friend would kick ass against people using wheel.

So its possible yes... using a higher gear ratio helped me.

Wouldnt listen to any input from anyone living outside of the european timezones, cause its in europe most of the players are.

With that being so i can clearly understand why any, lets say canadians/americans/australians etc. etc. thinks LFS is dead. From around 1800(ish) to 22-2300(ish) its the most active during european time. And thats during week, the weekends have a pretty spread out userbase since alot of people tend to actually do other things(i know its hard to believe).

The fact that people are trolling the forum about LFS being dead, dying, sucks etc. Doesnt prove a damn thing, log on, check the servers, and play, its nowhere near dead! its just that people arent active on this specific forum(for obvious reasons, flaming, spamming, idiots etc.) they are either just playing, or active in other LFS communities.

If anything all the spamming/flaming/naming/idiots here prove that LFS is alive.

Quote from Venomizer2010 :I've used that if I recall, any suggestions for a setup or use default?

1. Lock the diff
2. lower the gear ration so that the car will have more power to "break loose"
3. Maximum air pressure in rear tires.
4. adjust camber to max negative in front, and also max toe out in front. For me it feels like i can go wider with that front end setup.
5. then save the stup, and make a new one of this one, and experiment till you find settings that suits you.

How about just NOT bother with a drifting name, and just select a name?

and not "xXlamedriftnamePLXx[g25]"

To be honest that´s what i think too, when there is no consequence for your actions people will do just about anything that comes to their mind. It can be a good thing and a bad thing, and sometimes it can be a good thing that becomes a bad thing.

The thing we do actually see alot of on the web, is the bad attitude, swearing and just acting like an ass, trying to be a smartass att every opportunity. Thats more common amongst younger users and in community´s where the average age is lower. But its not only in that group it occurs.

The other thing is that people are ore helpfull and friendly than they would be in normal life, and tbh its a good thing if the person doesnt start to promise things they cant keep. Wich is very easy on the web, since you dont have to face the other party.

Quote from bbman :Yes, that's exactly how the notion of "LfS is two years overdue" started... Do you want another wave of nerd rage if we pass this next ETA date as well?

Thats what i thought also, was there actually any word from Scavier saying that it "will" be released during december 08? Cause all i can see is the following line

"We are pleased to announce that we plan to release the new VW Scirocco in Live for Speed during the week ending Friday 19th December."

And in there i cant see anywhere it saying the car "will" be released on a specific date, only that it was planned to.

Thats a way to look at things, but IMHO i think we need something, no matter how small being released, even if its just for the sake of fabricating a sensation of progress for the players.

Quote from el pibe :dude, it has white lips/skirts... it must add at least a 1000hp !

/sarcasm

Its silver, but since youre canadian i cant expect more from you...

And it actually adds about 500rwhp due to its being a factory bodykit

Also the volvo R-replica rims and Volvo 850 t5r rear wing adds about 350hp...

EDIT: it doesnt have the volvo rims on the pic.

Does LFS really need another cruise server that just like the rest will end up badly managed???

Atm. there is 18 cruise servers online, that are actual cruise servers and not just drift/drag/DD servers in cruise mode.

Quote from Ramses :Agreed.

There are two reasons for administration. One is to teach ppl some respect and the other is to clean up a server so ppl can race/play properly. These bans are not for teaching but for cleaning up!

This is some true words, and its clear that you have done your share of admining thats for sure...

People just take servers for granted, and they also consider it a right, rather than a privelige to drive on the servers they want. Luckily we didnt set out to be a populair servers, we just had it as "our own" and left it public when we didnt do "private practice" and stuff.

All the players want an well admined and clean server to race on, but when your looking for someone to help out no one wants to do it... why??? because the only "fun" part about being an admin is that you can restart, choose cars/classes and tracks/layouts... the rest wich is clean up the mess(banning/kicking/babysitting) is boring as hell and sometimes you really dont seem to get around to play yourself..

This is how admining is done!

I remember back in 08 and early 09 when i used to admin our driftserver, i gave people 999 bans all the time... not for no apparent reason ofcourse...

but driving the rb4 and constantly slamming into people because they drift slower is something that can easy be prevented. Also bumping and cutting the line when we are drifting 1vs1 on a special layout, and then claim you "didnt know" or when you drive the wrong way becase you "didnt know"... sorry if you are that retarded you deserve a 999 ban. Thats why we had quite a hardcore group of drifters that stayed on the server...

Anyways to get back on topic. A 999 ban for deliberate crashing and just beeing an **** actually isnt enough, they should loose their LFS license IMO...

Perhaps you should try to make somekind of "network" for server owners where you have a "shared" banlist so that the rammers and idiots will loose out on all the good servers.

Dont really ever seems to remember any dreams, exept nightmares....

The "falling" thing i really hates and it happens every 2nd or 3rd night so its quite stubborn.
Another one i seems to have quite randomly is the sensation of being hunted by "something" and i always wake up and cant sleep so i end up listening to music or reading a magazine untill morning...

Then there are the typical "random" nighmares that shows up every now and then...

But apart from the falling and "hunted" sensations nothing really seems to be reoccuring..

I think it could be a good idea to implement this to LFS.

Adding yet another element to LFS racing, either you choose grip or top speed. It wouldnt need to be that many configs really, maybe 3 sets for racing and 3 for rallycross.

Like 3 sets of different rims.

16" 17" 18" for racing.

14"(14" for lower class cars [GTi class or less]) 15" 16" for rallycross.

And maybe 3 different withs for the rims.

This way you could choose both the amount of drag you want due to the with, and also how stiff tirewalls you want, like 18" would have stiffer sidewalls, and 14" would have softer ones.

There should also be the option of choosing different configs for front and rear.

I agree with the idiot infestation problem! rush and conquest really sucks when you get a team where, like 70-80% of the people is sitting back in base, whining about no one capturing the flag/destroying the targets...

I actually had a nice chopper team set up at one moment and we literally had almost cleared the target area, and then there was still like only 1 person trying to capture while the rest where sitting on the middle island(isle innocentes) and didnt even hit any targets since the enemy team where smart enough to avoid the open spaces.

I think the only solution is to create a little "community" with serious players and then trying to get ahold of a server with password.

What i like to do is creating a squad with my friends only, then go out and kick some serious ass.

I found a new "thang" that really does it for me! making a "choppersquad" and that is a blackhawk with 2 gunnerz and ofcourse the pilot.

if you find a serious gang to hang with it can be really fun! you just fly into battle, and if hit you fly back and repair! then back on it again... i almost managed to keep an squad of 3 alive for a whole round with that tactic... now if it wherent for all those lazy ass snipers, that WONT actually move in and capture the target, it would be the most effective round so far.

It was a relatively low populated server but if we where like 10-15 in my team, and 3 where choppas, and another 2 or 3 tops as serious players, with the rest kicking it back as snipers at the edge of the map.

Too bad actually! but my friends are gettin the game aswell and if the four of us combine forces to an actual squad. I feel we would be pretty effective.
