I do agree with "Devildare" if your playing conquest or something like that, but in a squad deathmatch? sit tight and let the kills flow...
Like said, a sniper is supposed to take out enemies from distance, but in BC2 you are effective in close combat aswell(with the right setup/players skillz.) c4 on vehicles seems to have become a favourite thing for me.
This is MY STYLE when playing Recon...
Sit in bushes and hide, take out distant targets if possible. Sneak around and dont get noticed.... rather let one enemy slip by than get noticed, then BAM! take them with knife/pistol, fall back and hide(repeat sequence).
I do the same with vehicles, just wait and then BAM! out fast with C4 and haul ass into the bushes then BOOM!
The key thing is to not stay in the safest and most "obvious" locations, but in places where people dont look and/or wont expect you to be... Your more effective while sitting in that line of trees or in that stupid bush no one cares for than being a "sitting duck" on the top of a hill where everyone expects a sniper to be...
I couldnt have said that better myself "jibber" its the exact same thing in MW2, and any other FPS game for that matter(exept CS series).
And it really pisses me off!
Maybe its just that people are retarded to a level never before seen in human history.
"hmm!?! there is a sniper there, and he killed me!"
"camper n00b!!!"
"but hey im to stupid to throw a grenade at him, so ill just keep going the same path again, and again and again... and keep calling him n00b and camper untill he stops"
Gah! its frustrates me to death, there IS a sniper/recon class in most games. And that class is supposed to be sneaky or take out enemies from a distance. By the looks of things some people seems to be under the assumption that you should just run in the open guns blazing with a sniper rifle VS a machinegun.
MW2 is an exellent example! the map called wasteland. Just sitt tight in the bushes or in the grass and DONT move or you will be spotted, its very simple and i tend get lots of points by just watching and taking out idiots running in the open with close combat weapons.
Its even easier to spot and take out the recon class in BC2 since they cant prone, and why some people gets pissed off really is beyond me.
Could it be that 99.99% of the gamers used to play CS series???
Like "mrodgers" are saying, this deal is so overly "hyped". I really think its an unfair blow by the media against Toyota. To be honest i cant think of 1 manufacturer that havent had to recall cars, but suddenly its a big deal?
Volvo had to recall cars more than once for various reasons, where 1 actually had something to do with the steering(if i remember correctly).
Saab had some issues aswell.
And then we are not counting all other construction failures that doestn require the cars to be recalled.
Like the high quality manufacturer BMW that had a poorly constructed cooling system wich couldnt be correctly refilled if you didnt park you car in a slope or rised the front, this becase the filling area(name?) wasnt the top part so that there was still air on the system.
And another big manufacturer called Mercedes Benz, that failed very EPIC with a bunch of models in the 90´s. Im always suprised when i see how rusty those cars can get... and no its in that they arent cleaned, i know of people who took good care of their cars and still had the cars rust like hell.
IF i where to buy a NEW car today, i would defenetly go Aisan.
This is the biggest problem IMO, just look at these 2 pictures and really think about it for a second.
By applying some common sense in into your racing you would hardly have to read the rules, i barely do actually.. unless its a legue, but as long as you rely on traditional common sense you will be 80-90% on the way really... perhaps even more.
MW2 that is a pretty awesome game, looses a bit online experience due to this system. And its more the fact that its pretty buggy that bothers me... also the fact that they use steam makes it fall a bit further on my list aswell.
Ofcourse there is clans, and an ability to host your own "private match" but that means you have to invite the players manually, so for a clan battle to happen you need to find each other on a third party like IRC or a forum. Then manually invite the clan to your match.
There is no ability to just choose a server from a list to find a match on a specific team server. A match with only 4 people is kinda lame anyways so you dont wanna go private with less than 4-5 people per team. That means you are stuck with the ridicilous system where it just puts you in a random server.
Also it´s using a system where the player with the best connection gets to host the game, so if the hosting player leaves the game pauses and chooses a new host(the best of the remaining players). This is quite annoying when it happens several times during a match, and sometimes it cant find a host fast enough so the match closes instead.
Well i guess i didnt take into fact that there are some amazing people in the community... to me programming seems redicilously hard, especially after trying it out back in school.
Aaah i misunderstood a bit there! i thought you wanted this system for LFS just like it was in CODMW2... but i do hope it doesnt get to popular since it would just be almost the same thing just in a smaller scale. Like instead of one button for all servers you get like 50 buttons where every button is for like 5 servers. Could be useful if you could filter it out though
Yeah i do agree that the concept is good, i mean sometimes it´s fun to just click a button... end up on a random map and then adopt to the situation... IMO the system is exellent when you play alone. But still there are bugs that gets you thrown around sometimes 5-10 lobbies before you actually get to start a game. This tends to be happening when there are parties joining and to balance the people out the server throws out a dude or 2.
Also splitting up parties is a pain in the ass, its bad enough with 2-3 people... but when you are as many as 4-5 its really annoying and sometimes you tend to give up before actually joining a game.
These are as you say indeed bugs, but if they where simple to fix im sure it would be done already. And for something a couple of hobbie programmers use as a tool i dont see how it can be used better.
Why would you want to make things even more complicated by destroying the best type of server system available? the traditional "click the server you want to join" system!
The things you are sugesting makes me think of "call of duty modern warfare 2" (shivers)... that is a prime example of how a extremely good game looses alot due to 2 issues where one doenst affect gameplay.
Explanation.
Their system is that you cant select server, you just click a button and (steam?) selects a server for you, and if you want to play with you buds you just add them to your party and you all join a server together!!! sounds fun doesnt it....
.... and on paper this system seems very easy to use and just awesome, however in reality it doesnt work that good at all... sometimes you just get thrown between servers and the party with your friends do tend to split up aswell, even though its not supposed to. And as if thats not enough you cant know what map your gonna play either, as its just randomly generated... if such a system would come to LFS im sure it would be the end of the game.
I would stop playing LFS altogether if it went to monthly subscription. LFS is fine as it is and frankly if it wherent for the cheap price i wouldnt even thought about upgrading to full s2. I would however pay an extra 1 time fee for additional content, like high quality tracks and Real life cars.
Probably as a tool for the almighty layout building feature we have in LFS. I do agree its a thing that should be on the "to do" list, but im not really that bothered by it since you dont fly off if you just touch them. If you go hard into them you will fly, but you probably would have a wrecked car anyways after such a hit so it wouldnt matter that much.
"One important thing we must mention is that to access Rockingham in LFS, users will need an S3 license. We have added the BMW Sauber F1.06 to the S2 license and will be releasing the VW Scirocco for the S1 license as free updates. We realised that at some point we need to move onto the S3 license and it would be better for the community to be able to start using S3 content sooner rather than later. The current plan is to also include another car in the initial content of the S3 license"
Yeah its a Free beta, a beta where the keys are not handled out to everyone. Thus the one ledning his key out may have to wait till the game goes live again. But im not going to discuss this topic more.
On-topic.
I do like the game more the more i play it, kinda like i did with MW2. Feels pretty wierd at first, and BFBC2 really felt awkward and confusing(still does) but im beginning to like it.
And Maybe he hacks that account and someone ends up with a stolen account?
I know people who had accounts stolen from IRL buddies so i dont really trust people on the internet giving a "crying story" about they cant afford it... either you buy it, or you dont... if you want a free try, then go play a game with a free trail.
Maybe there is a friend he can go to and test the game... if not, then he just have to pay for it, its simple....
Would you please give out your LFS S2 account details? i would like to try S2 with a different account and i cant afford so plz plz plz...
Just buy the game, its great fun even though it has some faults... after playing the game yesterday i agree that HP isnt the problem really... its that regulair weapons dont do enough damage.
Still even though i consider it worth buying i can honestly say its very "hyped" right now and it isn´t that good that it´s got me impressed. I just hope the actual game do blow me away when its released. But if the game is anything like the beta i would say it´s not gonna become GOTY 2010, and if it does! 2010 is gonna be a bad year for computer games.
From what ive encountered so far with only a few rounds of online gaming im not impressed. I mean it is a good game and all but nothing special besides very nice sound wich really gives you a feeling your really there.
Now the videos of the game are really making it coming out way better than it really is... and as always the entire "shooting a weapon" experience is typical BF style(shooting a mag into a person and he still wont die).
It´s a good game and with some tweaks, like less HP it could be exellent. Now MW2 is a really good game that besides the spawnsystem and server selection(or lack of it) system.
I really do hope the beta is misleading and the "real" experience is better
Demo racing where only fun when thats the only choise you had. And it really destroyed alot for me when they merged the demo/s1/s2 filter so that the demoplayers can join s2 servers running for example: bl gl track with GTi class.
It´s an awesome combo now rendered totally useless, and the same thing with BL rallycross and GTi class.
Maybe you could pretend that you buught an "aftermarket" fully adjustable diff...
people these days... i always pretend the roadcars are highly modified machines... exept for engines due to regulations... why do you people have no imagination...
My taste tend to stick into this very thread, i only listen to this kind of music... anything else is kinda pisses me off.
The list is in no particilar(spelling?) order its just as i come up with them...
Power/melodic
Blind Guardian(1996/1998 albums and forward)
Nightwish
Bal sagoth
Falconer(awesome swedish band, a must hear!)
Epica
Magica
Sirenia
Avantasia
Gamma Ray
Edguy
Kamelot(awesome live)
Freedom Call
Rhapsody of fire
Finntroll
Korpiklaani
WASP
Arch Enemy
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Motörhead
Hammerfall
Then there is alot of single songs i think its to much job of typing... But it´s mainly all the classic songs like "stairway to heaven" and some 80´s songs by Motley/def leppard/poison... yeah you get it... the list gets very LONG
You are taking for granted that s3 hasnt been started yet, im pretty sure s3 has been started on already since well over a year back, maybe even back in 08...
They already mentioned the word s3 in the same line as a "new car" and "rockingham" for them to even say that means they probably started working on it.
And yes we all know your a whining bitch but we love you anyway! :lovies3d:
