Quote from Pasci :However, it does not need a new thread about the desire for new content / cars. There are enough of that requests...

Quote from nikopdr :Of course new content is always welcome, but replying to personal content requests by doing them can open a pandora's box [...]

Why do you guys worry about that stuff? If you don't like the thread, just let it die down. Or just point him towards the car suggestion thread. Or at the very least cynically hint at the search bar.

He's making a valid request and the frequency with which these pop up only prove it.

Quote from Pasci :Interesting that you accuse me of denouncing...

...and not arguing better in one of the next sentence of you. :-)

My post didn't adress anyone personally, but that particular bit was aimed at someone else - obviously showing that the judging of stats is absurd.

Quote from nikopdr :Maybe the first post in the thread from me was a bit belittling, i admit that, my bad.

Thank you!

Quote from bishtop :I'm only stating a genuine fact.Yes people offline race/hotlaps but does not have any hotlaps uploaded and if you check every account that makes such post they generally have the same thing in common(check it out)

Also you confirm what i say and that is the majority of people have not driven most combo's so still plenty of fun to be had

Its better having done"millions of laps" than very few laps overall, it shows i play lfs,and as i am enjoying what i am doing i have had my moneys worth

Obviously it shows that no matter what is released they wont be happy if they have not given the current content a chance once they are bored of one combo

Offline players don't necessarily upload hotlaps. Maybe they just race against the AI. Also LFSW
stats don't say much about online drifting or cruising. From what I see OP has driven 13k miles and burned 11k litres of virtual fuel. Who are you to judge whether or not he's had his money's worth of fun in LFS? Based on statistics? Big Eye

All this shows or confirms is merely what an undifferentiated and self-centered view of things you have.

This community is so lame...

You're just trying to denounce his request. Maybe he's an offline player, LFSW only shows online stats. Not that there was a lot of content to choose from when joining multiplayer servers. And even when LFS was busier, people on public servers always voted for the same couple of tracks.

Besides, what do his stats matter? If you don't get bored driving a million laps of FBM on Blackwood, good for you. But don't expect every other person to be that easily entertained. And you don't need to have tried every possible combo in order to get bored of the same content for a decade. Plus OP doesn't seem to be interested in open-wheelers - nothing wrong with that or asking for more touring cars for example.

Quote from pärtan :I also love [...] how trough voting a group of friends can control an empty server to an extent.

There are a lot of things to love about LFS, but the voting system is definitely not one of them. I feel like 70% of the time it's being abused for lols.

I think they don't want to add cars before the new tyre physics are released. I didn't know they also turned down racetrack deals though. Frown

Quote from bishtop :So many moan about the state of licensed online racing yet no-one understands that if everyone tried to do something about like going online it would not be an issue

I think plenty of people consider this, but it seems naive to think it could make online racing crowded again. There just aren't even enough people looking for servers for individual initiative to take effect. And the ones that do, seem to dislike anything that isn't GTi or GT2 racing. I know where you're coming from, I've done this many times (hotlapping an interesting combo and waiting for other people to join) and it rarely works for any length of time. It's frustrating to me as well, but in this kind of thread we should look at how it is, not at what we want it to be.

Quote from bishtop :If nothing gets said when you join a server with people on it then start a conversation Big grin

When I join a server I say hello and if there's nobody I recognise then that's usually it. It wasn't a complaint, but more to illustrate how often even multiple (independent) people do not spark a growth of server population and it just leads to nothing.

Quote from bishtop :You're taking one bad experience(LFSW shows it as once it has happened within past 6 months) and saying that defines s2-s3 servers.
I am giving facts based on our servers and personal experience on them

I don't know how LFSW could even give you stats to such an oddly specific scenario, but I too am giving facts from personal experience. I meant it exactly the way I said and I don't just race four times a year. Wink

Quote from bishtop :Also if you would of read my previous post you would see that i said "Remember some are content with doing hotlaps or racing against the computer", which would then make it worth buying for a track that has been "laser scanned" and not a made up non existent track

I read your previous post initially, did you? Because yes, *some* are fine with sticking to single player stuff, but then again "some", and I'd even argue the majority, want to play together with other people. The same could be said about your conclusion; to some people it doesn't matter whether a track is real or fictional - as long as they are of good quality. And you could argue that the making of Rockingham has influenced and will influence the design of LFS's fantasy tracks (like ripples in braking zones and curbs on Westhill and Blackwood). So since we don't know OP's preferences, it's only fair to try and give a universal opinion.

So you can have yours, I can have mine. Just don't try to discredit experiences that other people made.

Quote from TFalke55 :These are great, but I get an uncanny feeling from them.

That's because the render as such is amazing, but the model is a low-polygon mess, the wheels don't have nuts or bolts and the third one has weird suspension and camber settings, plus it's missing a driver.

Quote from bishtop :Also it takes someone simply to get one or two people on a server and it soon gets racers joining. Happens anytime i use our s2/s3 server. No-one seems to want to be the first on a server or they have it set to hide empty servers

For everytime that happens, there's another time where I join a server with 1-2 other people on it, nothing gets said and within ten minutes everyone else is gone.

OP already has an S2 licence, so there's no harm in getting started again and seeing for their own. Buying S3 won't offer a different experience, there's no magical wonderland opening where everyone is racing and drifting and building layouts on Rockingham. The release was over 3 years ago at this point, the hype died down again and it is fair to say it's not worth it at this point.

If you have to ask: No, not worth it.

I'd have to dig up the Rockingham/S3 release announcement (late 2015 I think) but from what I remember the devs made it clear that it is not the same value for money as you get out of buying an S1 or S2 licence. More like an indefinite pre-order, or a donation gift.

Casual online racing is basically dead anyways, and although I'm not too involved with the scene, I heard that some leagues and events don't even include races on Rockingham because it'd exclude so many people who are sticking with S2 for now.

Quote from nikolai_01 :So after the updated tracks and the day-night cycle, the game will be more GPU or CPU dependent?

It's a graphics update, the racing as such won't be affected by it (apart from the cars interacting with a more detailed track surface, maybe). But for the most part it'll be more demanding of GPU power and memory, than it is now.

Quote from =EL 34= :At the moment, the LFS has everything except a powerful road car with a V8 engine and Rotary Car.

Uh, okay. LFS has everything except a roadster, mid- and front-engined sports cars, super cars, touring cars, GT3 like cars, LMP type cars, rally cars, trophy trucks, gocarts, Formula E kinda cars, classic cars...

Quote from Scawen :You seem to think Eric already has all the tracks finished and we are just waiting for me now.

No, I'm saying the ones he's finished with will have to be revisited (by the both of you I guess) and the ones he is or will be working on will take even longer when night time settings are to be included.

Okay this looks awesome and all but *for now* can you please limit it to static daytime? Give us the updated tracks to play with first. Dynamic lighting and nighttime opens a whole other can of worms that would push this patch many months further away.

It's a pretty good show overall. However what I have an issue with is that in between scenes, genuine, archival (news) footage is being shown to advance the plot with off-camera narration.

On a simple level that can be confusing because of the sheer volume of names being thrown around and because many of the actors and actresses only vaguely resemble their real life counterparts.

In a broader sense I also find it problematic because it can give off the feeling of watching a documentary, when it is of course a drama (with lots of dramatisation and other historical inaccuracies).

But being taken for what it is, I guess it does a good job of creating that whole atmosphere of impoverished background, glamour, violence, DEA work, politics, vendettas, power trips and so on.

Looked at old edits of mine and wondered what this one would look like in 16:9. So here's a quickie! Turns out it looks vastly different if you also change the skin, direction and time of day...

I know the lack of antialising and the lumpy shadows kind of ruin it.

Unfortunately a lot of people can't be trusted with the power to vote. Too often have I witnessed ****s being in or forming groups to vote-kick other players just for lols.

I think a big part of the problem is that currently each tyre only interacts with the surface at one single point. That is especially noticable when driving across curbs or layout objects.

In the video however that can be done in LFS mostly. It's just slicks, a very well tuned setup, a superb and ballsy driver and of course tons of aerodynamic grip.

Eventually, yes. So why not start with the oldest?

Unless you mean the next patch will update all environments.

What I don't understand is their list of priorities in terms of content. Why do Blackwood and South City get multiple updates, even S2 tracks, while Fern Bay still looks the same after 15 years? Fifteen!

Imagine a Demo player (spoiled by the beautiful Blackwood) buying S1 and loading up Fern Bay...

Some consistency is needed IMO. After new graphics and tyre physics are done, Scawen should think about releasing a tool so users can create tracks and car models. And I don't mean mods. Just in terms of content, development should be outsourced to the community (via competitions, sort of like inviting tenders), because as is evident devs have enough to do already. Then Eric can focus on updating older content and act as quality control for the community-made content, while Scawen could develop the game further at its core.

Didn't even realise this was posted until now. FFS I hope ScaViEr took notes. Obviously the polygon count is through the roof compared to the already existing GTRs (and other cars in LFS), but this is an awesome effort and pretty close to what a GTR conversion should look like with somewhat state-of-the-art graphics. There's even a stock-alike skin!
