Yeah. So poker is illegal now..

Check it out yourself, I'm pissed off.. Had quite a decent amount of money on some of these sites, I'm not even in the ****ing US.

http://fulltiltpoker.com/
http://pokerstars.com/
and many others...

And yeah, currently I can't get on full tilt.
Quote :charged with bank fraud, illegal gambling offenses and money laundering

Doesn't surprise me.
How the hell does the FBI suddenly have jurisdiction to just seize domains though? The US government think they own the world.
at least, no more stupid internet poker ads!
Anyone llike to explain how the US gov't can seize and shut down non-US sites? What's next, FBI raiding casinos in foreign countries and shutting them down?
Fulltilt and pokerstars work fine for me.

But yeah, thats some bullship. Who do they think they are?

But then again, apparently some of the banks in question are from the US, so...
Not working here, getting FBI banner

I wonder if poker apps on FB will get the same treatment though, I know some of those use real cash

Both of those sites work fine for me.

£5 says they got hijacked by some script kiddies pretending to be the FBI.

Nah, probably your DNS hasn't updated yet.
At least they don't have control of the IP addresses, I finally got on Full Tilt. So it seems to only be the website.

This is official though. No script kiddies.
Nice censorship in the so called "Land of the free".
Why wouldn't I be suprised when the FBI eventully shuts down the Internet...

if those server where physically located in USA they have full right to close them...that applies to every country in the world. for example many illegal sites in europe have servers in US so they cannot do anything because servers are running outside europe and they have to ask US to cooperate...
Loved the quote from the Attorney - does setting up a website accessible from anywhere in the world count as operating in the US? And if something is illegal in the US and not in the rest of the world, that means they can close it? :|

Or requiring the US company in charge of collecting the UK census data to hand it over?
PS .net works, but .com has the FBI banner.

both clients should still work though, mine did.
Working fine for me.
FBI page here on all of them.

If you guys read the article, the issue is money laundering and tax evasion, not "illegal" gambling.

Read up. I'll help alittle bit.

Quote :Eleven executives at PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker were charged with bank fraud and money laundering in an indictment unsealed in a Manhattan court. Two of the executives were arrested on Friday morning in Utah and Nevada. Federal agents are searching for the others.

Prosecutors are seeking to immediately shut down the sites and to eventually send the executives to jail and to recover $3 billion from the companies. Prosecutors seized five Internet domain names used by the poker companies. By Friday afternoon Full Tilt Poker's site displayed a message explaining that "this domain name has been seized by the F.B.I. pursuant to an Arrest Warrant."

Quote :....prohibiting banks and credit-card issuers from processing gambling payments by disguising billions of dollars from U.S. gamblers as payments to nonexistent online merchants for golf balls, jewelry, flowers and other merchandise.

Fun part is going to see whether people will be getting the money left in their accounts back. This should be fun to watch.

Quote :Full Tilt Poker is saddened by today’s charges against its CEO Raymond Bitar and offers its full support to Mr. Bitar and Nelson Burtnick.

Online poker is a game of skill enjoyed by tens of millions of people in the United States and across the world. And, Full Tilt Poker remains as committed as ever to preserving the rights of those players to play the game they love online.

Mr. Bitar and Full Tilt Poker believe online poker is legal – a position also taken by some of the best legal minds in the United States.

(snip)

Unfortunately, as a result of this action, Full Tilt Poker has decided that it must suspend “real money” play in the United States until this case is resolved. However, Full Tilt Poker will continue to provide peer-to-peer online poker services outside of the United States.

yeah, it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
Would kinda suck if you had a couple of hundred k's and you're not getting it back
If I remember correctly, this is not the first time when real money poker servers are closed for USA citizens.
All this bullshit about money laundering. It's about the same as G.W. Bush said when they invaded Iraq.

The real reason is probably that USA is eliminating their competition.

They legalize gambling (where the state earns the money) just days before closing all major poker sites.
It's so corrupt, they always claim that someone did something illegal when it's for their own interest. Julian Assange is another great example; oh no he leaked secret documents, let's arrest him for rape!
I couldn't reach it yesterday, now I can.
