Oh my.. I can instantly recognize every name on that list Richard - including the hosts. Those were the days the racing felt more simple and "pure" I think.

God I miss those days
What about holding the return key and clicking "Join" until you finally got into "Hoffmann's GTi" server?
if you can remember the [ZT]Westfalenring
When you can remember the days that you would run into most of the top league runners on public pick up racing servers and you would go to join a server and you'd know 80-90% of the people in it. Oh and yeah clicking like mad on the connect button sometimes for as long as ten minutes to ensure you got into your server of choice
When you were presing refresh and stuff all the time and you got banned for 1 minute, cause of too much clicks , LoL
Quote from tikshow :that last update was when they released the fbm 2 year ago...

No, it wasn't.

Patch Z28 is an update, if you like it or not.
I remember Tim Wheatley comming on the #liveforspeed chat and using a fake name so only a few people knew who he was.

The first time I entered #liveforspeed, someone was getting his pc hacked and the people were all laughing because they were changing his coursework... Such behaviour isn't really tollerated now

I remember the weird online mode where everyone worked as a sort of network of servers

Finding a new game had been posted on racesimcentral one day, while I was doing my usual checking up on the GPL world.

Below's the thread where I first found out about LFS
18.08.2002: A user of the West Racing forum finds the demo test 0.04k on the internet and spreads the word about LFS:

Man forget racer, this is the future!

You know you're a long time LFS player if u can remember...

...our long gone battle grounds server everytime full of people and tiny watching over us.

...ian and me driving the closest races ever in xrt just before s1 release, the same with krani in s2, the nice tbo races we had with countless of ppl i cant even name, for example the gm bunch, sonic, testi and others.

...trying to beat ppl with wheel while youve still been using stabelized keyboard.

...and last but not least, if you can UNDERSTAND fordies every year again threads wishing the old times back.

yes, i know im late joining the party, i remember quite some of what have been said too, not that ive been there with the reaaaally old times though.
If you can remeber the LFS stunt track and that city track that never got finished.
haha people talking about version P or Q, and I started playing LFS on S1 0.5E but my account is from 2006 because I didn't bother registering lol

was so much fun, no fuel, no tyres temp (not sure about this one, it was a long ago), no damage! damn, i miss those times
I remember the very funny bug in S1 in the first chicane.
You sometimes could get stuck in there. (there was a barrier arround some grass)
Was always lots of fun, 1 time I got stuck with 3 others and we started hitting each other in order to get someone out of there.

(by then there was no damage yet)

Edit:

I also remember that you had to unlock the XRT
At that time I put my game on the easiest level (for the AI)
What I didn't knew, that if I put it on Pro I would also get more points online.
So it took me ages before I could finally try that beautiful 2 exhausted XRT

This can happen now, for some of them. I've seen a fair number of MoE guys on Fox Junkies and/or IHR Racing.

correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't that track become south city?
In the early days i remember it was possible to reset the car while driving so the following racers hits you at full speed. Was disabled very quickley :-)
I Remember playing lfs over 6 years ago. but i could not remember a single thing...

You know you're a long time LFS player if u can remember...
