tl;dr:
All these people (and their workers) earn their salary and their pension and benefits from the taxes that I pay. These are the same people who claim to collect donations and help the poor/in need.
This is just an example from my country but you can imagine it's pretty much the same where you're at.

My 'cockpit' is really horrible. It's an L-shaped table where the corner of the L is rounded (forming a quarter-circle) - Can't mount the G27 on it because the angle forces half of the locking mechanism to be off. I'm thinking of drilling holes in it to hard-mount the wheel but I don't know. Moving to the left or the right (away from the circle-corner) is not an option because of the table's legs on the short side and a bunch of drawers on the long side.

Are you guys serious? I use a $300 system (2x2gb 1333mhz RAM, some 3-core AMD cpu and a GeForce GTS450 1GB) and run any racing game on top settings with AAx8 AFx16 @ 1920x1080 resolution.

Good luck man, don't die. I've finished my IDF service almost a year ago. That's why American soldiers get killed so often, short training and big guns.

Training in the Israeli elite combat units lasts anywhere from 10 months (5 months boot camp + 5 months combat training) to 2 years (+1 year of specialized combat training), only then said soldiers are deployed into real operations.

If you're coming from real-life racing, you might want to read this thread. Other than tips on how to correctly setup your FFB settings, there's also explanation why FFB will never feel like it does in a real race car.

I've had DFP for a while. I've done over 5000km with XFG in LFS with it and it's still as good as it was when it was new. The brake pedal's spring sort of lost it's resistance and is somewhat easier to push now.

Regarding FFB - go for 101-105% General, 0% damper/spring/center and ingame - change to taste. Some cars are heavier, some are less. My ingame setting for FFB used to range from 15 to 40 depending on the car.

That's not what bothers me at the moment.

Currently my biggest problems are:

a) My chair has wheels, pressing brake or clutch sends me riding away from the table because of the high-resistance springs in the pedals.

b) I have no ideas on how to hard-mount the pedals, I have ceramic floor.

Clutch feels unrealistic ingame. When I drive my real car, the amount of throttle I apply is the same no matter how much the clutch is in. In LFS once you release the clutch a bit, the engine's revs go down waaay too much. What am I doing wrong O_o

Well, I got a G27!

It's good but I'm having some ergonomics problems...

My chair is a computer-chair, not very comfortable for racing especially when I ride back when pushing the brake hard (chair has wheels, doh).

The angle at which I sit also forces me to raise my foot really high to press the clutch or brake.

Actually driving is awesome though, still need to learn how to use the shifter and clutch properly, it's much easier with the paddle-shifters.

I must admit, at some points the LFS stats were like levels in a RPG for me. It's good I get bored of RPGs fast. :P

Nope, those wheels are not popular enough to have a market on eBay.

Anyway, who would sell such a great piece of hardware? Let me know, I'll buy it if shipping is under $200US for both the wheel and pedals. :P

The only way to get it without tremendously over-paying shipping is either going to like Germany myself or getting a relative who's coming to visit Israel bring one to me.

Both methods are not an option right now.
