Any Fanatec reverts from G25/G27?
I'm going to buy a new wheel this week, my old DFP is just not cutting it anymore. Lots of info about both wheels but unfortunately I can't try both wheels before deciding which one to buy. What I managed to gather so far:

G27:

Popular, supported by all games, is generally sturdy, medium-quality pedals, poorly made shifter

Fanatec:

Not supported in all games, high-quality pedals, somewhat pricier.

What else should I know before deciding? Thanks guys.

check youtube for reviews. youtube is great for this kind of thing. I own a G27 but never tried a Fanatec. I love the G27 and use it on a wide range of games.
I think if I could have the G27 with the Fanatec pedals by default I would've been the happiest in the world. But I can't afford the G27+Fanatec pedals seperately so it's a pickle.

I really hate my DFP's brake pedal, is the G27 an improvement in comparisson?
#4 - dadge
yes. very much so. I also had a DFP. the pedals in the G27 are much better.
I'm Momo to G25 to G27

Been great so far; recommended for Logitech's support (Although the service might wary from region to region...)

Do check out reviews from users and not just websites with agendas.
Bose in 3... 2... 1...

Oh really? Like which games? I've been using a Fanatec wheel for a while and didn't find a game that didn't support my GT3RS.

Grow up.

If you can afford it, go for the Fanatec. They are well worth it IMO. Their support is quick, personal and good. They have people at the support desk that actually know the products, and know how to answer your questions. If you're not happy with something you can simply get a refund, or new parts or whatever.

If you want nice quality pedals and an just as awesome fast, quiet and smooth wheel, go for Fanatec. Nothing beats load cell brakes (no more cheap pot meters that tend to make you angry) and belt-driven wheels.

I thought GT3 RS is 180 EUR and G27 is 300 EUR?

Oh yeah, that's right. Another point busted then.

Oh, what I meant is if you use the G27 wheel with the Fanatec pedals seperately, they won't work in RBR for example. If you use the Fanatec pedals with a Fanatec wheel, it should work properly.

I live in a country that isn't even listed on the Fanatec website so I'll just email them and see how much shipping might cost. It'll be at least $120US but possibly more.

GT3RS is 180 but comes without pedals... It's an extra 200 for those.

Also, Bose, did you own a G25/G27 or used one for a while? Because if your opinion is one-sided then it isn't worth alot.

Owned both (still got a G25 laying around).
what it really comes down to is; "will i be able to win races with x wheel?" that answer is: as long as your fast enough, you can win using a mouse as a controller. the point being, every wheel mentioned in this thread will do the job you're looking for. the DFP; Great entry level wheel. G25/27; Great wheel. Fanatec; Great wheel. with either option you will still have great fun so it's just a matter of which product will give you the same fun at a lower cost?
I don't care much about winning because I usually fail, I'm good at it. I want to have as much fun as I can. I think the Fanatec's pedals will prove to be alot more fun thanks to the brake pedal. I emailed them and if shipping to my country is under $150US, I'll go with the Fanatec.

Btw, how can the Fanatec be mouted to my computer table? The DFP mounts perfectly...
Quote from BullHorn :Btw, how can the Fanatec be mouted to my computer table? The DFP mounts perfectly...

The Fanatec has a big clamp which works really good and is fast to (un)mount.

How many space needs it under the table to fit?

I have my G25 in the desk table, and it has 7-8 cm free till the keyboard table. I'm guessing if a Fanatec will fit here.
It's been two days since I emailed Fanatec about shipment methods/prices to Israel but still no reply. Is there any other way to contact them?
wait until Business hours. Not many companies will respond to emails during the weekend.
Oh, nevermind me. I didn't notice it's Sunday. My work schedule is really weird, I'm actually at a night-shift at work right now.

I'll let you guys know what's up tomorrow when they hopefully reply. If shipping is under $150US, I'll probably buy the Fanatec. :X

-EDIT: I think I might be dyslexic. :|

It needs around 4 cm. I actually had to mod my table. I got a metal bar on the underside which was not that far from the edge of my table. Did you mean this?
Quote from BullHorn :It's been two days since I emailed Fanatec about shipment methods/prices to Israel but still no reply. Is there any other way to contact them?

Did you contact via the site, or via a direct address you got somewhere?
I mean in vertical. My wheel is in the "main" table, and under this table there is the keyboard/mouse table, which is almost 8cm lower than the "main" table.
Oh right I see, so you mean the depth of that lower part of the table? If so; the Fanatec is smaller, so it should fit.

If not, I really need pictures to clarify.
My G27 was only 3-4cm vertical, I removed part of the clamp due to tight space.

Anyway, who said the G27 shifter is poorly made? A lot of people I know who have fanatecs prefer the G27 shifter by a bit over the standard fanatec shifter.

The G27 pedals are good actually, the clubsports are one of the very few sets that are better.

The G27 wheel I had before it was sent back due to abnormal heat issues had a pretty rough ffb to it, my friend with the gt3 rs v1 said that the wheel is very smooth, and quietish.

He also said that he felt like the gt3 was easy to break, like that worry in your mind that it's not sturdy like the G27.

I haven't owned any fanatec wheels, so I can only take his word.

I've also heard that the Fanatec has a nice feel, smooth and is compatible with many games.

Keep in mind that the CSR wheels are being released within a couple of weeks, and those are the reeeaaaaallllly good ones.

I didn't care for my G27, the leather felt fake and cheap, it peeled off too. Apparently that was unusual for the wheel but whatever.

The closest competitor of the G27 is the GT3 RS V2.

Stats:
Fanatec GT3 RS V2:
$179.95USD
Just the wheel, nothing else
Smooth
Feels good to use
On the go settings
Wheel vibrators
Porsche badge
14 buttons

Doesn't feel nearly as sturdy, fragile.
Some compatibility issues.
Some quality control issues (rare-ish)

Clubsport Edition:
$329.95USD
Includes:
-GT3 RS V2 wheel
-Standard shifter set
-Clubsport Pedals
Shifter is loud, clacky, strong, not that good
Shifter mounted to wheel via metal bars
Pedals: Load cell brake
-Feels incredible
-sturdy
-realistic
-ABS function

Logitech G27:
$299USD
Includes wheel, shifter, pedals
Wheel:
-Good mounting, hard or clamp
-Silent ish FFB, only noticed if you use quiet audio like me
-^-I actually noticed the noise of this wheel when I use my noise canceling Bose headphones with the volume rather high.
-Proven performer
-Excellent customer service
-Shifter is pretty good, putting Velcro around the internal shiftgate improves it a lot
-Pedals are very good, carpet grip is a joke.

Anything else?

Also, I wouldn't go by Bose321's opinion alone, he has a habit of being a bit biased with minimal proof. (Oh that Intel vs AMD chat was hilarious...)
He does have good facts about the Fanatec though.
Nothing against you, Bose.

I would reccomend ether wheel depending on what you want, it's a matter of personal preference.
Quote from pfpdoodlez2009 :The G27 pedals are good actually, the clubsports are one of the very few sets that are better. How about the new Fanatec pedals, the stock Fanatec pedals and those Thrustmaster pedals?

He also said that he felt like the gt3 was easy to break, like that worry in your mind that it's not sturdy like the G27. It may FEEL easy to break, but it isn't. I have put it through it's paces and it's just as good as when I got it.

Some compatibility issues. Examples?
Some quality control issues (rare-ish) Old ones did rarely have issues, but the newest batches (since 2009 and later have zero problems)

$329.95USD
Includes:

-Clubsport Pedals
Shifter is loud, clacky, strong, not that good It's not 'loud' it just makes some noise compared to the Logitech shifter. The clacky and strong feeling is good IMO, I got no feedback at all from the Logitech shifter. Apart from the noise, the Fanatec shifter feels better. (Check out their new aluminium shifter!)

Wheel:

-Silent ish FFB, only noticed if you use quiet audio like me The Belt-driven FFB from the Fanatec is quite alot more quiet compared to cogged wheels.
-^-I actually noticed the noise of this wheel when I use my noise canceling Bose headphones with the volume rather high.
-Proven performer
-Excellent customer service Fanatec service is great too.
-Shifter is pretty good, putting Velcro around the internal shiftgate improves it a lot
-Pedals are very good, carpet grip is a joke. Can't judge on that anymore to be honest, they feel horrible after using the clubsport pedals...

Nothing against you, Bose. You should never go alone one just one opinion ofcourse. And what chat?

Because I'm too lazy to multi-quote.
The chat was on your server quite a while ago, I was asking your opinion on CPU's.

Anyway, I was talking about the standard shifter, I've been stalking Thomas's blog since August. :P I've been waiting for the CSR stuff to come out. :P
My comments on your comments aren't in order...just a warning.
I couldn't judge the customer support because I haven't experienced it.

I'm pretty sure I said that, oh nevermind, I actually forgot that. Everybody has a different opinion. I found Logitech's quality rather cheap, my opinion of course.

I was actually selling my replacement g27, chose to keep it and plan to mod it.

Like I said, some people prefer one wheel, someone else would prefer the other.

The pedals, I was referencing the pedals currently released, the new Fanatec pedals aren't included because they technically aren't released yet, only pre-orders. Either way, there aren't many good pedals out there, clubsports, TSWs, act-labs and Logitech G-series pedals are among the best, of course you couldn't return to the Logitech pedals, the clubsports are amazing!
(after I buy my laptop and fix the desktop that's next on my list!)

I'm not comparing the GT2 to the Logitech because it's $200 more if you want clubsport edition. The CSR wheel is the same price as the GT2.
The GT3 is more of an equal comparison anyway.
The Carrera is really the closest to the G27, and much cheaper too.

Going back to the pedals, I totally forgot about Thrustmaster. :S The names just screams pornstar.

About the sound, the GT3 RS V1 vs the G27 in audio comparison seem about equal, not sure about the V2.
It's surely smoother though. :3

Something that I liked about the Fanatecs is drift mode. The downside of the G27 is that I find myself turning the wheel for it, which sucks because I rely on response when I drift.
Right now I decided to go with the Fanatec. The pros outweigh the cons, imo. Just hoping for a sane shipping price.
What model did you choose?
