Clean Fun Casual Racing

Hey all, I purchased lfs awhile ago but never played it all that much as online racing was so bad due to people crashing and not racing clean. Any recommendations of a league or group that has a decent population with clean racers for the casual person. I am not any good but would still like clean racing and joining random online servers is not where thats at it appears, I am located in the US.

Quote from Drifting101 :Found this really good thread:
http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=30474

This convinced me to use multisampling instead of supersampling which looks just a little bit more jagged than supersampling but gives a good performance boost.

I am looking for visual appeal as I already get 200-400 fps, this game is not a graphically demanding game whatsoever.

I will check out that thread, thanks

there a sticky or howto somewhere on which settings give you the absolute best graphic settings in this game. I have a nice system and want to be sure everything is maxed out.

I had a clean install of Vista, installed for maybe 3 weeks at the time I first tried the G25, had almost nothing installed on my system, no antivirus, just office 2003, some games, photoshop, dreamweaver and that is about it. Installed the drivers, rebooted and windows would no longer boot. was frustrating. At the time I went to logitech's forums and read other posts about similiar problems and that logitech was aware and was working on a new driver.
anyone using G25 and Vista 64 bit?

Anyone else running Vista 64bit os and using a G25 wheel? If so are the logitech drivers now completely compatible with vista 64? Last time in september when I purchased a G25 and installed the latest drivers from logitech's site it hosed my windows install, so have not used the G25 or played racing games since.

I notice the same version of driver is on logitechs site but has a date of nov 07, so I am assuming a new build, I do not want to install and risk hosing my windows install again and needing to format/reinstall if these drivers are not 100 percent yet. Anyone have any problems who are running Vista 64?

thanks

But I bet your graphics look as rough as a badgers arse.

Everything is maxed, running an 8800. This game is FAR from demanding.

not sure s2 needs dual core support, probably runs fine on a pentium 3 and geforce 3, I get 250fps at 1920x1200 res in this game

actually I find the same thing during us evening times.. only a dozen or so servers open. I would guess 80 percent of the lfs population are europeans.

one of my first races since I was s2 licensed was on one of those ctra servers, I was racing clean.. I am just not very good, about 5-10 seconds behind the top guys per lap. At the end of the race one of the better people was saying I drive 'almost' like a wrecker.. not sure what they were talking about, I drove clean the whole race, held my line and slowed down a bit to let the leaders pass once I was lapped. Only time I was in an involved in a wreck is on the 3rd or 4th turn of the race someone rear ended me and caused us to wipe, possibly taking another vehicle or two out.

Other than that I did noticed a couple poeple just screwing off, but majority of the server were people legitimately racing. The top end guys though need to chill out, they were really bashing other people because they could not drive as well as them.

Quote from danowat :There is an AI skin pack here > http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 119&highlight=ai+skin
You could use those.

I guess if you did extract the viewer to the LFS folder it would share them, in hindsight it would have probably been a better way to do it, however, I know some people keep the viewer seperate, for whatever reason.

fantastic, thank you.

yep, I figured it out now.. thanks all.

by the way, anyone have a skin pack or something to replace the default skins in the game.. so the cars are not just plain?
doox00

ohh, what format do I save the skin in to view it with the viewer?

Quote from geeman1 :Doesn't work like that. You are infact forced to run mods even if you don't want, because other people use them online. Offline you can do whatever you want, but online you have to do what other people are doing.

well then if most people are running mods then that is probably what most people want.. not to mention this is from lfs's webpage from the faq

Can I make my own cars/tracks for LFS?: No - Live for Speed is still in development therefore there are no car or track editors available at this time. Also it's not yet possible to import other 3d formats into the game. However we will probably release the editors at some point in the future when most of the LFS development is finished.

so I purchased s2 yesterday and just finished all the training sections in the game.

Now I would like to paint my own cars, where can I get templates and so on for photoshop for each model? Also is there some out of game viewer?

thanks

seems silly to not allow/want it, if you don't want to run any mods.. then don't and stick with the core game. let the people that want to download and install 10 versions of the same track.. just because you don't like to do that why stop everyone else from doing it. noone is forced to run a mod or addon.

Quote from zeugnimod :But WHY do you want an end of development?

I think its great that we experience the development "live" and can make improvement suggestions that are sometimes even implemented into the game.

I dont want LFS to be finished anytime soon.

good point

I might break down and buy it, its obviously a good product as there are many people playing the game. I have a g25 on the way, once it arrives maybe then I will take the plunge and purchase the game.

thanks all

Quote from obsolum :To be honest - and don't take this the wrong way - you don't seem the kind of guy to buy LFS. If you want a finished product then LFS is definitely not for you. S3 may be years away. I love LFS and like many people have said it's way better than most other "finished" games out there, but you seem to be staring yourself blind on the "alpha" Your loss ;-)

Nothing to do with alpha, more to do with is there ever an end to 'development' and a final product released with such and such features, this many tracks/cars etc. I don't know much about the history of lfs, I just know its been out for a number of years in development status.

When will it be complete? Is s3 a new game then and have to purchase that? hasn't s2 been in alpha for years now? I rarely ever spend 50 on a game btw, I purchase all my 360 games used, I did purchase bioshock the day it was released.. beat it and I just resold it last night for 38 dollars, so it cost me 12 bucks overal.

I am not trying to be cheap or critical, I am just trying to understand the direction of this game. I read another thread that said it would be a year probably before it would get more tracks... Is there going to be a final released version? will it offer many more tracks? clean up the interface? Perhaps a graphics overhaul as it is pretty dated as of now.

I do enjoy the demo (not all the people who intentionally crash though, but you get that in all games), just seems to have alot less to offer than rfactor to me. this game that much better?
