like it really matters, i agree on longer posts its worth takin the time to make it easier to read but i just cba and tristan hows bout **** off, you're your or ur dosnt make much difference on a forum, since ur such a grammar hotshot u can work out what it says so there shouldnt be a problem. i love how the grammar police always rear "their" ego filled heads on every given chance.(happy bob?)
racing line?
p5srono

im not sure if this is possibly but its worth a shot, i would like a racing line that progresses with me, a sort of trail that lasts per lap, but that also records throttle and brake points, kinda like the license thing on gt4 but a progressive one, so say on blackwood, on the straight after the chicane i brake at around 160 so the trail would leave a red line at 160 meters and turns back to w/e colour when i come off the brakes but the next lap i brake at 150 so the red line starts later, then if the lap time dosnt improve the same racing line stays untill its beaten...
it does seem a bit to much to me but it would help me (and possibly) a lot of others if it could work, might be something the devs could possibly implement into the game if it worked right..i have absoloutly zero programming knowledge so i havnt got a clue what work it would take or if its even possible but i thought id ask anyways

your moaning about a game that you paid a lot less than you should of when its already amazing and isnt even finished yet, how many race series aside from rally do you see cars roll over a few times or slide into barriers and finish the race, regardless of whos fault it is, once ur out your out, its a shitty thing to happen but what can you do, personally i think resetting is pretty stupid, an option to run back to the pits and get a spare car would be better least that way you can realisticly get a few points out of the race, resetting and only loosing a few places is pretty ridiculous, althought i do think a different reset option should be implemented somehow for the less serious servers, time delayed maybe, or if u reset a pit drive through or something, im new to this and ruin my car a lot but i still dont think a reset option should even be available

there is a really good offroad sim but i cant think for the life of me what its called, but i remember it havin a big area for free roam with a lot of different types of terrain, a pretty good selection of cars aswell, the cars were all road goin based wich made it a little bit more intresting, but u had options to lock it to 4wheel drive or just rear, u could lock the diffs etc, i always remember playin on this one map where u start off outside these wooden houses and they were surrounded by mountains wich providin entertainment for hours on end, not sure if u could use a wheel on it tho as its pretty old, the missions were really good aswell, had to do rock crawls through gates at night and rainin etc, ill try and find a link so u can check it out

*edit, try screamer 4x4 it looks pretty close to what i was playin all those years ago

im deff not suggesting open modding, im tryin to suggest that the community fires out a lot of ideas of what they want, then maybe the devs select a few who will draw up plans based on these ideas and work out the rough edges and make it more presentable and then work with the devs to come to some sort of agreement.
lets use a track as example, we fire out suggestions, like how long, what direction, fast, slow, loads of elevation, narrow sections, hard to pass sections, off camber etc, the majority of the suggestions gets put into a base model.
if the community say they want a long wide fast circuit then you kno how to roughly base it, then would it be a high speed circuit or would it be more midrange fast corners using 3rd 4th 5th gear, should it be clockwise/anticlockwise based, would the pits be based in a section where you wouldnt loose much time or maybe to handicap you in a place where you would loose a lot of time.
if the community fired out a lot of suggestions then the selected few drawn out plans then put them back out to the community we could highlight good/bad parts, where to improve certain points, it would be a long painfull process but it would mean we would have a track that would be liked and influenced by the majority, then the devs could have a look over it work out what they want what they like/dislike and maybe put it into the game, it is a lot of work but most of the work would come from us the community, the devs would just need to build the track, the blueprints are there waiting its just having the time to sort it out.
we all have our ideas of what we want, if we could come to some sort of arrangement with the devs where we get to design a track or car the community could design something that would talor for pretty much all our needs, puttin neons, nos bodykits etc aside and really focus on a really impressive "racing" based track or car we could produce some real cool stuff.
community based cars/tracks

i done a search on this and found one topic wich was related but it was started in 06 so i thought id start afresh...
what about if the community could help design and possibly build cars and/or tracks, so for tracks ppl would offer their opinions of what would work what wouldnt cambers elevation etc.
the final build would obviously come down to the devs decision but if the community done a lot of the work with design and tech specs then it shouldnt be to hard thereafter(i think), plus this would give the community what they want and at the same time more tracks would be released to build on the already impressive track list.
same with cars, the community lists of what they would like, engine sizes, type of power delivery, drive train, road goin or gtr etc, all the tech specs would be catered for from the community then the devs just need to put their own personal touch to it.
i kno its not as simple as this but it would provide the devs with some clues on what we want and maybe the direction of future cars and tracks, ofcourse the final decision is theirs but we are the ppl who buy this game and we are the ppl who play everyday, so we should have some say in what cars/tracks are implemented.
this community is huge and full of a lot of very knowledgable(sp) and very talented ppl who are more than capable of creating very good tracks and cars, ive read loads that the devs like to play their cards close to their chest and keep this games development to themselves but im merely suggesting that we give them the building blocks to base new cars and tracks on...maybe

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :You can change gears 3 ways on the G25. Shifter (h-gate), Sequential (paddles) and another sequential mode (like you find in a rally car, a push up or down action). If i went onto LFS, and turned the knob on the shifter to sequential, it would'nt work, i would have to go through the trouble of re-assigning buttons so i could get the shifter-sequential to work, and then, the paddles would un-assign themselfs. And then, when i would want to go back to h-gate, i would have to re-assign my buttons again. After time, this can prove pretty annoying. This is why these scripts have been made. When you use them, they change the buttons for that specific shifting mode, and then you put in another script to either change the mode, or put them back to default.

i got rid of my g25 ages ago so ive not used it on lfs, i never liked usin the paddle shift either so i always had it set as either H or sequential, the more i play lfs tho the more i want another g25, i dont think they are worth buyin new, mine cost 200 and i was severly dissapointed with it but ive seen them goin for around 130 lately so i might get another and see how it is, when i had mine i went to the trouble of settin up a recaro out of my civic and makin the frame work to house the g25, i didnt stop playin rfactor for like 2 weeks straight when i set it all up, i miss those 2 weeks

the xrt is to sloppy and it takes a fair amount of control to get it to drift nice, its easy enough to get it to slide but the lx6 u can get it to slide and correct as much as u need to mid corner whereas the xrt runs out of puff, setups play a big part but if its someone new to this they wont kno how to set cars up, i dont yet and i find the lx6 a lot easier to control

cant u just turn that little nob and then set it to sequential, then if u want the normal gears just turn it back, thats how it worked on other sims, when u set it to sequential its set as buttons anyways then the H shift mode is set seperate, cant say it will work on lfs but its worth a try

just take the lx6 out on any track, 2nd gear turn in pin the throttle and get the slag to slide, ull get the hang of it eventually, readin guides and watchin vids dont really do much, readin up on setups i would recommend but other than that, lx6, race_s make 2nd gear a little longer and go slide round corners at high speed, once ur any good go find some drift servers and copy their lines, ull learn entry speed angle etc untill then just pin the throttle and light those rear tyres up, sayin that aswell ive been havin great fun in the fxo lately, its a bit unrealistic but sure is good fun tryin to get decent drifts out of it

ive got a 1985 civic gt sat on my drive, been stood for 11 years in a barn so requires a fair bit of weldin but its got less than 30k on the clock, around 27 i believe cant remember exactly, its gunna be a rice killer when its done, those things are deff underated, 1.5i and it kicked the shit out of my e30 316i, cant wait to get it back on the road

then race real ppl? i prefer to play single player unless its drift or a cruise server but thats just cos i dont want to spend the time perfectin the racin lines and gettin to involved, after all its just a game and i only play to have fun(ur ideas will vary to mine obviously) it does just sound like u need to race some real ppl who wont let u pass on t1 cos they all have the same idea and wont crawl past, they will cut u up, defend the line, brake late etc, ai is fun but it never changes so its never challengin, my view on online racin is limited since i just dont do it often but my small amount of time doin it was a lot more fun than racin ai

I kno its time for breakfast and the only direction im goin is to aim to my door and shout at my mom till she cooks for me...

back on topic tho, if money isnt an issue and its just the devs need more time to work on it then could there be a possibility of draftin in more devs to tie up the smaller pieces for them?

obviously the game is the heart and soul of the original devs but smaller stuff could be designated to other ppl, i havnt got a clue about programming so i dont want to suggest things incase they are to much but u see me point
for instance, if implementing weather and lighting ie morning noon dusk night etc isnt to much of a handfull for someone then why not pass it onto someone who has more time, say this person does it well and the devs are happy then they could release a small patch along with w/e else they had to offer at the time and leave the bigger things for s3

the smaller things could then just be testers for s3, guess this way they can see what works and if it dosnt work then they have a better idea of how to sort it for s3, again im no programmer and clueless on game making but draftin in more devs to help out cant be to bad of an idea

if it came to it i would donate, i cant offer much but i can offer some wich is some help, however im not to keen on real tracks or cars, i love the fact that its all fantasy, sure it would be cool to race a skyline on the ring or a touring car on silverstone etc but i really like the fact that the car im driving and the track im on has no real meaning to it so i just race, i dont get caught up in the whole, if its based on a porche it should have so and so, or the track resembles so and so track and t3 should be tighter etc, i just drive wich is amazin cos the only thing that comes into play is can i get a better split or is it possibly to outbrake here etc, not knowing the tracks or cars makes it more playable for me cos theres nothin to take my mind of the real reason i play, to just drive

broken suspension?

anyone remember the video of the guy who made his car flip over on the car setup screen, well i was tryin that and broke my suspension, tried it a few more times and it kept happenin, i was quite upset that i couldnt drive with broken suspension tho, but this leads me onto this, if it breaks in the setup screen why dosnt it break whilst drivin...b4 the grammar police try to burn my noob fringe no i dont kno the difference between break and brake and nor do i care

the speed limiter can be turned on at any point of the track, ive got it set as a button on my wheel, right next to the handbrake so sometimes in a fluster i hit the limiter, when it happens next check the dashboard for an orange light, blue is the traction control, yellow is signals and orange is the limiter...i could be wrong on the colour actually but u get the idea, im sure someone on the forum could tell u what colour to actually look for tho

i got beeped at loads today on a cruise server, came in handy sometimes cos i just didnt kno they were there, bein a cruise server i wernt checkin my mirrors that often so when a faster racer approaches and dosnt give the blue flag its quite nice to hear a wee toot so i can give him room

i dunno much bout big bikes so im probably wrong but im sure they had single point, single point works off the carb, basically a little jet that squirts more fuel in, a lot of older small cars use the same thing, my 1.2 nova had single point, my mates 205gt had single point, im sure there are some bikers on here that could confirm or make me look like a tit tho, search for ghost rider on youtube or google video, there is a turbo busa on there runnin 500bhp, i saw a vid of a twin engined turbo busa kit car wich just took the piss, there is a vid floatin around of a quad with a impreza sti engine aswell, not sure what that has to do with anythin but its worth a look

there are loads of variations now, bike powered austin mini's, bike powered vw polo's etc, have a scoot for the radical, its a light weight onroad racin car powered by the r1 engine, 1000cc race bike engine, now thats a car id like to see in lfs, even if its only loosely based

i havnt bothered readin the replies but from my experience of online racin(s2 tho) its all been good, i went on a ctra server to enter some races for the first time and had no problems, i made sure they knew i was new to this from the start and on all 6(i think) races i entered i had no problems, some ppl seemed a little hot headed but u gotta remember they are drivin hard to win the race, i was mearly racin myself so u have to understand their situation aswell, i got blue flagged a few times and everytime i moved over like i should, only had one situation where i was on the racin line and he was clearly faster but there was nothin i could do, i was already on my limit so to avoid me crashin or slowin him down further i stuck to my line and then moved over, im sure the guy understood, after the corner he passed with ease and carried on, good racers will kno how to handle situations like these so just do what u do, i race with the map so i can see exactly where the cars are if one is close then i keep checkin my mirrors and adjust my line accordingly, if i lose 3 seconds on a lap thats fine but if the guy whos winnin loses 3 seconds because i didnt have enough respect then i deserve the slander i get, u have to see it from the winners point of view, to be in first hes goin to be close to his limit so he needs that space and he needs it more than u do regardless of if he seems like hes bein an ass, hes in a state of mind where he needs full concentration if he gets angry and gives u shit its just cos he was drivin hard and unfortunatly a slower racer got in his way, sorry for lack of grammar and punctuation but i really cba today

yea well just proves what i said, the lx6 does sound and feel like a bike based kit car so its not unrealistic
