Welcome, bandaid.

Thought about the game today and stopped by to check up on progress. None. Same S3 threads. Same people defending Scawen. Eric still MIA.

Figured I'd just post here to show up my sig (circa 2010) for the lulz.

There's a porsche a bit further in that gives a better example but it slews off road.

Quote from Costas Athan :... And something about damage model. After the roll over occurred, the roll bar that should protect drivers head appears to be completely damaged and the driver's head out of the cockpit! Graphics should be improved at that point. Structures that are intended to protect drivers should not get smashed easily.

While I agree with what you are saying, the object is to keep all four wheels on the road. This is not an issue when you are not driving like a banana. (I have not watched your replays.)

Quote from amp88 :...I'd eat my hat if there wasn't a user database somewhere with a unique numerical ID number for each member. We might not be able to see the unique ID but it'll be somewhere. At the very least we each have a unique user ID on the forum. Mine is 69846, yours is 59787.

This.

Also, I am failing to see the significance of a user name change? Your racer name shows up above your car on the server, so we only see the undesired username when you log on or post something silly on the forum...

I don't understand the pressing desire you all have!

(P.S. Stefani24 is an exception to the rule. Poor bloke.)

Quote from pigmeu :I too rarely see this kind of texture corruption on my LFS.

I think it is the dreaded nv4_disp.dll error. It never happened to me when using my 6600gt (although it was artifacting in some other games due to some weird heat/ram/heatsink problem), but when i changed to a 9800gt i started to get the nv4_disp.dll blue screens/freezes in some games including LFS (strangely when in other games i generally got blue screens in LFS it freezes).

The only fix i found to this was running Windows 7 RC.

Just as a side note.. I have been running LFS on Windows 7 since the first beta and subsequent updates since, using a 9800gtx, and have had no such issues. This is all whilst testing the various Z-based patches.

LFS has too much grip when the tyres are cold and not enough when they're hot. In the middle range it's not too bad. I'm looking forward to seeing this fixed soon enough.

Kissing ass was tried shortly after the initial delay and it didn't work then either.

Aware.

Working as intended.

Gain is marginal at best.

Edit: Hold down your shift button and bash some of the cars over South City's bumps.. Hey presto gear change without using the clutch at all! HAX!

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Well mate, sorry but I think that the community voice at the moment is that of disappointment. It's been a very long time since an update and people tend to get impatient... and yes people will be like "Well this is the devs project and they do what they want", blah blah, it's the same old crap that's been posted before.

If people have an opinion to voice, it will be voiced. Unforunatly you have to take the good with the bad. Negative feedback is needed. Nothing is perfect and unfortunately never will be. Only way to get part-way there is to take the negative comments.

I figure the Devs should see this negativity and learn from it. It is a fair indication of the viewpoint of many LFS users, and even then, only the portion who can be arsed to post on the forum about it.

People are pissed off with lack of updates, both of content and information regarding progress, YET they are still hanging around the forums, waiting and waiting to play they game they clearly love, but in some form on new light.

Devs, release new content but CHARGE for it! People will be overjoyed, and happy to pay, and perhaps the potential cash injection will re-ignite the passion to create.

Or is Eric really dead? *runs*

Scawen posted his moving house saga just recently explaining the delay and letting us know he is now, or very soon will be, back on the job.

BE PATIENT AND READ BEFORE POSTING.

Quote from 5tag :You kiddies... he was not asking which opinion you have on it. So cut the discussion about it being dangerous or stupid.

Like others stated right, "arab drifting" is mostly done in FWD cars. The Thread starter is limited to Demo content, so his only choice can be the XF GTi.

Summerising: This thread is useless.

I think the idea is that with the ignition off, the cars no longer have their 'physics' computed by the server and therefore save on server load and lag for users?

Pretty sure I read that somewhere.

@Kaynd: I wouldn't worry too much mate. I don't think what we are discussing here actually will come into effect, but it has made for some interesting reading/viewpoints.

Quote from ShannonN :Hear a lot of talk about realism here, forget all the talk of adjustments for realism, the needed restriction for realism for ALL cars is when racing, that is hotlapping, online or in a single player mode, the only view you can drive from must be in cockpit view, otherwise there is No realism.

edit: For Online Play

/fcv on

Or something along those lines.. its based server side and forces cockpit view. Problem (already) solved.

I have not read the thread but thought I would just chip in my 2c as I was quite vocal in another 'whinging' thread.

I would just like to thank Scawen for..

A) Letting us know the progress of the Scirocco.
B) Taking the time to _really_ polish the new VW as it shows how much you really do care about LFS and us, the users.
C) Some of the other updates in this patch series, loving it.

So people would be keen on a server based setup 'locking' similar to the single player option where the AI uses your set?

This would be able to be turned on/off at the server side so as we could have 'open' and 'locked' setup servers.

I agree with Rusty though that the quick (himself included) would remain quick, but the mid pack would benefit greatly. Limited setups and the new ABS would make for some much tighter packs, whether or not that is a good thing....
