If we remove the rear spoilers (find another way to create rear grip), would it help eliminate the blowovers that occur from spinning in a reverse direction at speed?
Quote from Mustangman759 :yes, but if they make it fast enough or enough decreased downforce then we can have what I would consider could racing in a pack.

Clearly you didn't watch the race or listen to the drivers or even use your ****ing brain

And tell me. How can you give more rear grip at 200mph mechanically?

blown diffuser
ground effects
The implementation of negative gravitational devices
More mechanical grip at 200 mph? Use weight.
Yes, the momentum increases, but so does the grip.

Static, rolling, and sliding friction are all directly proportional to the normal force, which is equal and opposite to weight.

So, in theory you can increase grip by adding weight. Of course this advantage is negated in racing by the adverse effects of weight, including momentum (Although, does this really matter on tracks which require no braking or hard cornering?). In terms of blowovers, added weight would require a greater lift force in order to make the car airborne.

I just wanted to give a cheeky answer to what was suppose to be a difficult question.

Use a modern version of the 'fan' system from the Brabham BT46B. That way not only would they generate more downforce, but they'd be able to remove moisture from the track, allowing them to race in the rain, even on ovals!

Note, the above is not a serious post...

Well theoretically the more weight you have, the more downforce you'd need as a minor shift in weight transfer would cause you to lose control.
Or, let's leave the cars as they are and add road tyres for the supers. That way you have to lift in the corners. And while we're at it. Let's add two more wheels to the front and allow Tyrell to be a manufacturer.
NASCAR is looking to scrap the single car qualifying everywhere starting next season in favor of group qualifying like this year at road courses. At Daytona & Talladega they are likely to be given an open track 60 min. session.

What?

Also, why don't the Sprint Cup cars look like this? http://www.motorzone.com.br/wp ... 2013/ford-fusion-2013.jpg

Or this? http://www.diariomotor.com/ima ... et-ss-2013-9-1024x736.jpg

Or this? http://img.autobytel.com/2014/ ... emexteriorfront-72443.jpg

Just widen the dimensions to allow for a safety cage and the foam on the sides. Not hard . Is it a step backwards as far as technology and speed? Yes. Would it bring manufactures into the sport? Probably. Would it increase fan interest? You bet. Would it make aerodynamic problems disappear? Most likely.

What's wrong with it? Honestly.

Wouldnt mind seeing a real stock series back with heavy manufacturer support. But it would be better as a highly commercialized division independent of nascar

Also that qualifying sounds awesomely cluster ****able
But wouldn't that look more like an American touring car championship?
Quote from Flame CZE :But wouldn't that look more like an American touring car championship?

With 800hp and custom fabbed chassis? Not a chance.

The basis of touring cars is off the unibody from the manufacturer that is stiffened and re-inforced. Cars usually run around 400hp and mostly use the driveline config that the factory uses. It stops there though, there isn't much left of the stock car once you get past that point.

Stock cars used to use the stock frame, but they evolved from there. The last 10 years or so many people have been calling to go back to a bodystyle like the manufacturer intended. Even the body style though HAS to be modified so it will fit onto the chassis. Each NASCAR chassis is the same, more or less. Sure you see 'ford' 'Chevy' ect. on the start grid. But that's just for fun, there isn't anything that is transferred from the car people can buy.

The engine blocks are supposedly different, but they are so heavily modified that there isn't much point calling the engine a 'Ford' or 'Chevy' engine. Other than for namesake.
Jimmie Johnson will take the green flag from the outside of the front row (assuming Denny takes the inside, and why wouldn't he at Martinsville?) tomorrow with Matt Kenseth right behind him
If you missed the end of the truck race, find it.
