I couldn't give a crap about such rubbish, but I live for Sunday evening's torrent of abuse on Facebook

where, where??? I want to bash too!

I don't know why people are willing to go there, make fools out of themselves on TV and then get bashed by Simon Cowell *cough*TWAT!*cough* or whoever is with him (I don't really know the rules, objectives or anything in X Factor, only watched it for a couple of minutes and felt very relieved after changing the channel). It's just stupid, in the annoying sense of the word.
Quote from tristancliffe :That same old lame argument Alan? You're so drearily predictable.

Tristan Cliffe taking another jab at Intrepid - you dare call me drearily predictable? How long before your back up arrives lol
<--- Convinced he couldn't care less about XFactor.
<---- Convinced Lucie is awesome. <3

Quote from Intrepid :Don't like it? Don't watch it! Think you can do better ? Go start your own show!

Oh by the way... you don't pay for ITV... so errmm... who gives a shit?

Don't like it? Think you can do better? Then get your own "we don't like Alan very much" gang. You don't pay for us, so errrm, who gives a shit?

The BBC are awful. You can't argue because you haven't tried to set up a rival venture. Karting is the best because 8 year olds do it.

Give it a rest Alan. Nobody agrees with you. Nobody respects your point of view. Just shut up and get a life (which is ironic in an X-Factor thread, but the point somehow still remains valid with you).
I've never watched X-Factor.

I saw Fame Academy once, but got disillusioned when I got an error message back in response to my texting of "**** OFF" to their voting number.

The nation just wants to see what will happen if they win, me included.

And every time we have a remotely TV related thread it always descends into the same argument, I wonder why... :mischievo

Quote from Intrepid :How long before your back up arrives lol

I think everyone else has just learnt to ignore you.
The problem with shows like the X Factor is that you have to remember that nowhere does it state you need to actually have talent - you only need to be entertaining. And while I wouldn't want to be mocked and laughed at for a living, you can't deny that they've been really successful to get this far with no actual ability.

It's like a car crash. People know it's awful and they cringe when they see it happening, but they just can't look away.

I can't watch reality TV though, it actually makes me physically twitch. But I have seen a couple of YouTube clips of these jokers. This is from the same nation that spawned Lennon and McCartney, Queen, Zeppelin, Floyd and dozens more. The voters should feel deeply ashamed.
Cowell has slated the twins pretty much every single week of the live shows, yet for the first time he has the chance to get rid of them and he bottles it. He did the exact same last week, he could of got rid of Lloyd (the second worst contestant in the competition, after the twits) but once again he chickened out.

That man's all mouth no trousers. I think last night he was just being clever, he knew that the twins brought a lot of viewers to the show and without them the ratings would go down. He's still an idiot though. I think now I actually hate Lloyd more than 'those two', he's not entertaining, he can't sing and I just don't like him.

Wow some users of the LFS forum don't respect my views? Oh shit, really? How heartbreaking!

The simple fact to this whole episode is Simon Cowell is a freakin' genius. He has no musical talent yet has raked in millions of pounds because he knows how to play the system. How can anyone not admire how good Cowellis? He has stupid hair and an inability to dress like a normal human but he gets millions of people giving him their money every weekend!

Would you say Hitler was a good leader because he raked in the millions?

I can see what your saying that he's made millions and that must mean he's good, but I don't admire him.
Its not even worth arguing with him.

I am starting to believe he will do anything to rip on BBC. Probably because he failed to pay his TV license and they came into his house and turned it off or something

Where do I rip the BBC in this thread? Please point me to the exact post in this thread where I specifically mention the BBC?

Sometimes I wonder if people actually read my posts and instead just wait to read Master Cliffe's response and respond from that.
how the f' did those two idiots get through?! they can't sing, they can't dance and they aren't funny. I hated them when I first saw them, and i still bloody hate them.
Quote from Intrepid :Sometimes I wonder if people actually read my posts

For the record, I don't. You're so predictable I find I don't need to read your posts any more, I can just jump straight to calling you names.

Knob.
I hate X Factor and I always have.

that is all.

This one?

If you want to tell me that has nothing to do with your views on the BBC, then you are seriously in need of help.

Quote from Intrepid :Please point me to the exact post in this thread where I specifically mention the BBC?

You don't. You don't need to. Implication is, I suppose, a tricky concept.

I could imply any number of subscription based media channels and services from websites to TV.

People are acting as if this is life or death. All that happened is some twins attracted more votes than some pub singer in a TV competition.
X-Factor, Strictly come dancing etc are all the proof that's needed of the inherent flaw of democracy.
i.e.

Just because a majority of people think something doesn't make it true.

In fact the opposite is very often the case, the vast majority of humans are extremely ignorant. True even when talking about so called "general knowledge" facts let alone more specialised knowledge such as whether someone can sing or dance.

In fact, this thread has reminded me of a signature I used to use on a forum I used to frequent. Which I shall now resurrect.

These shows are designed to attract viewers. In ITV's case to attract advertisement/phone vote revenue. That's their primary job. The ignorant ones are those that believe the shows are anything more than that.

I don't see the flaw in 'democracy' here. If large numbers of people are invited to vote for their favourite acts then where is the flaw? People are merely voting for their favourite act for which they are asked to do!

What's the problem? The truth is more people prefer the twins than any other act. That's a truth!

And is it not a victory for democracy? Whilst large waves of media outlets ask the masses to not vote for this act they still stay true to their belief? Surely this is a good thing and in fact expose the show for what it really is about. How is the a bad thing???

I for one think it's ****ing hilarious!

...I could not believe the crappy shit prizes that the show was offering to the voters and the breaks, crappy digital cameras and toasters and such...pfff, cheap pricks

I'm afraid that's not the truth. The twins were in the bottom two, meaning there were at least 7 acts that more people preffered than them.
Quote from Minimaxman :I'm afraid that's not the truth. The twins were in the bottom two, meaning there were at least 7 acts that more people preffered than them.

OK, more than Lucie. my mistake

Lucie got the least amount of votes. She was the least favourite act with the public, and at this stage probably demonstrates she isn't going to win the show. With this in mind Cowell let the people decide. I don't see the problem with this.

i recall the American Pop Idol show which is all by public vote in the later stages had a contraversy when for one show only the judges could over ride the public decisions.... and there was outrage. In america the PEOPLE decide!

Here though it's "Public Outrage as Public Vote Off Lucie in Public Vote!" The public is outraged by itself!

I believe if it was ALL public vote people would be more inclined to vote for good singers. The fact you have a deciding judge vote means people don't always vote because they assume the comedy acts will get ousted regardless. If anything this demonstrates why you need to have a true democracy in these shows.

ffs this is silly. X Factor... I have only watch 1 episode and now debating the validity of democracy in phone vote competitions!
