Quote from S14 DRIFT :but who the **** buys a car to leave it in a garage and not use it? That's worse than letting cars let this get to this state anyway imo.

My dad

Although he mainly doesn't use it because he has no time, and because after the summer it gets buried in the build up of crap (car mats, MG parts, honda monkey bike parts, cardboard boxes for eBay, antique furniture and cans of WD-40, until next summer
Cars come and go, so does money, the question is who you share your time with: With a vintage car you share your time under the bonnet and with crusty old men at classic car meetings. With money you share your time with leeches and people who think you are worthy because you have money.

I'd rather spend my time with bohemian vagabonds, the spirit of my life doesnt need a vintage car or money. So keep the car, stuff the money, and get a life worth living.

Oh, nice car btw, it's quirky and stylish I like it. Sod owning one though, cars like that need too much work to keep on the road.
Quote from wheel4hummer :But who would want to buy a Veyron over a rare, classic Bugatti?

Let me just recap the situation : You're POOR, and you get a car worth 3 mil. Would you
A. Die an even poorer man knowing that you could have sold that classic Bugatti you never dared to drive
B. Die in a fireball going backwards on the supercars' roof while thinking "At least Im not destroying a classic Bugatti
Why is that crap can of a car so expensive? I mean, there also classic ford/VW's but they arent 3mil worth.

I would sell the car, buy a mansion filled with whores and live life

crap can?

beacuse it's a bugatti, not a ford ¬¬ and there are only 17 in the world, and 4 are in a museum

As much as i love classic fords, your just an idiot for saying that. The bugatti has a hell of alot more heritage, and its susposedly only ONE of 7 made.
I'd put the money in my bank account and sit on it for 1 month before I think about how to spend it, that way I am only spending interest. As a result I'll only make money, never loose it (unless the bank goes under).

But I'd probably buy a house in the middle of nowhere, buy a DB5 and get it modernised, then call it a day.
Quote from [plidex] mateo :

A classic Bugatti car, which gathered dust in a Tyneside garage for almost 50 years, may fetch up to £3m ($4.35m) when it goes under the hammer.

Relatives of reclusive Newcastle doctor Harold Carr found the 1937 Type 57S Atalante in a garage after he died.

Now the classic car, thought to be one of just 17 built, is to be sold by Bonhams in Paris next month.

It was originally owned by Earl Howe - first president of the British Racing Drivers' Club.

Dr Carr, a former army surgeon, left the contents of a lock-up garage to his family when he died in 2007.

As well as the Bugatti, his nephew also discovered a classic Aston Martin, and a Jaguar E-type in the lock-up.

The nephew, an engineer from Newcastle, said: "We just can't believe it.

"Of course we're delighted and we're going to make sure the money is shared out among the family. It's a wonderful thing to leave."
Only 17 Bugatti Type 57S Atalantes were built.

Earl Howe took delivery of the sporty two-seat Atalante after it was completed in 1937 and kept the car for eight years.

After Earl Howe sold it, it changed hands a couple of times before Dr Carr bought the car in 1955 from Lord Ridley, a member of the Northumberland gentry.

He drove the car for the first few years, but in 1960 it was parked in his garage where it remained until his death.

James Knight, international head of Bonhams' motoring department, said: "I have known of this Bugatti for a number of years and, like a select group of others, hadn't dared divulge its whereabouts to anyone.

"It is absolutely one of the last great barn discoveries.

"The Atalante is incredibly original and, although she requires restoration, it is 'restoration' in the true sense of the word.

"It offers a truly rewarding project to the new owner - who will join a select list of distinguished owners - to play such an integral part in bringing this wonderful motor car back to life."

The car has a remarkably low mileage with an odometer reading of just 26,284.

The Bugatti 57S is a highly coveted car by collectors, with at least four thought to belong to the Musee Nationale de L'Automobile in Mulhouse, France.

Others remain in the hands of private collectors.

Hmm.. 3M Euro.. let's call it £3m

I'd buy a nice house.. nothing fancy, mind. Probably around where I live anyway. I'd do my driving test and buy something like a Porsche Cayman S or a Lotus Elise 111r (Nothing stupid like a 911 Turbo or a Ferrari, I'm not for posh cars). I'd buy a Ducati 1198s for sunny days and keep my Z750 (but put all the bits on it I can't afford) for commuting.

Probably £500k out of pocket now, I'd put £2m in a high interest savings account and put the other £500k in my normal bank... I'd continue to work because otherwise I'll end up a lazy git, and let's be honest, £3m won't last a lifetime!

But you see it would. I worked out one year that 1MGBP would last ~80 years if you spend 20,000GBP a year and that didn't include interest (because I couldn't be arsed to do it). So if you had 3MGBP and assume you spend in proportion 60,000GBP a year, that is ~80 years worth of cash, again sans interest. So if you can manage to sit on the cash for a month you'll get a few grand for a spending spree for one month then next month, more interest.

The cash would last you a life time if you can sit on it. The only time huge figures like that don't last a life time is if you get silly with it.

[edit: correction, 1.6M will last 80 years, so 3M will last 80 years at 37,500 a year. God knows where I got those figures from, my memory sucks balls. For 60K a year you'd need 4.8M]
Wow... I'm gunna start doing the lottery then.
